"Multiple attempts to reach them but no resolution at all.
I placed two orders on the 16th and 18th of June 2020. The first order was $59 and the second was $98, but only part of those orders arrived, the trackings showed delivered but most items never arrived. (Thredup send a request to the FedEx but FedEx did not locate my shipments,)
On my ThredUp account, they showed issued the refunds but actually I have not received the refunds since June.
I am very disappointed.
I wrote to them 6 times, the help never came!!!"
"Terrible for resale. If I could give 0 stars I would. Can't stress enough how awful they are. Processing clean out bags is taking months to do and they are blaming it on COVID19. I have yet to run into any other reseller online who is taking so long to list items. Some are a few DAYS behind but 5-6 months?! That is outrageous and an obvious lie about why. There must be something else going on there. By the time my stuff is listed it will be past season and who will buy?
I asked for my items back and they said I had to wait for it to be processed anyway.
In one of my previous bags they did process they listed items incorrectly.
As a buyer beware - I know they have listed my items incorrectly in the past. Wrong brand, wrong size...etc. they don't give enough information or pictures either so you never know what you're getting.
DO NOT USE THREDUP!!!"
“Hello Cleo, we're sorry you were disappointed with our current processing times.
We are indeed experiencing longer than usual processing times due to high volume and reduced staff in our distribution centers due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Our Kits are usually processed in 3 to 4 weeks upon arrival, however, at this point, the kits are taking several weeks to be processed.
We understand that this can be a frustrating situation and we would love to give you more details regarding when your kit should be processed. Please reach us out on reviews@thredup.com with your email address or bag number so we can better assist you!”
"It takes forever to get a refund, also it takes several emails and a lot of patience. "
“Hi Kathy, thanks for reaching out to us here too. We are really sorry to hear that you received your order in this condition, please be assured that the refund was issued on our end. When there's an open dispute with PayPal, unfortunately, the money doesn't go through. We have reached out to you today with more information about the refund request that has already been issued, and we'll glad to assess any other inquiries you may have. Feel free to reply to our email sent recently and we'll keep taking care of this for you.

"Oh, where to begin. I bought a pair of jeans from these guys, and before I received them, I also decided to send them a whole bunch of clothes for consignment. I’ll start with my buying experience. I bought a pair of white jeans, but when I received them, it was obvious that someone had previously washed them with dark colored clothing, because they were tinged with blue. They were just not anything like what I saw in the picture, nor what was described. So I started the return process, only to find out that not only am I responsible for the return shipping, I’m also going to be responsible for a 1.99 restocking fee. To me this is horrible customer service. First they send me some cheap nasty discolored jeans, and on top of that I am responsible for THEIR screw up? So, whatever. I ate the cost. For some strange reason it also took a month for them to even register my return and credit my account.
One thing I’d like to add before I explain what happened with my two boxes of stuff that I sent: these people have no idea what they are doing with regard to sizing. When an item shows up in the listing page, it will tell you the size below it before you click on it. However, when you click on the item, the actual size is off. For example, for a pair of jeans it will say “24 waist”, but when you click on it to see the details, suddenly the size changes to “27 waist”. So which is it, guys?!
Their search function is also less than basic. You can’t put in more than one word and get any relevant results.
About my experience trying to do consignment with these people is a huge joke. First of all, it took them THREE MONTHS to “process” my stuff and actually get it listed on the site. Three months!! Then, once an item sells, you’re required to wait until the return period has lapsed before you get your piddly chump change, and that’s an ADDITIONAL 45 days. The reason I sent them my stuff is because I needed the extra cash now, not in 6 months!
These guys will burn out and fade away because their policies are not made to keep anyone happy but themselves. Horrible business models like this won’t last long. "
“Hello there,
We're so sorry to hear you had such a disappointing experience as a buyer and a seller and we appreciate you bringing this feedback to us.
When it comes to the jeans you've received, please know that our team strives to only accept items that meet our strict quality standards. If we ever deliver a piece that doesn't match our description, please reach us out on www.thredup.com/contact and we will assist you with a free return without any restocking fees.
Our usual processing timeline is 3 to 4 weeks after the kit being marked as received, however, we are currently experiencing longer than usual processing times due to high volume and reduced staff in our distribution centers due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
We've also extended our return window to 45 days for a couple of months, but the return window is back to our regular 14 days, so the majority of the payouts will be issued once the 14 days return window has closed.
We'd be happy to check your return order and also your payout timeline for sold items. Please reach us out on reviews@thredup.com so we can keep assisting you!

"What a joke. I ordered a pair of sandals. Received a pair 2 sizes too small and with a massive sticky stain on them when they were listed as like new. Was charged about $10 for return shipping and restocking when it was entirely their error. What a joke, will never shop here again. "

"I ordered a purse from Thredup that was just under $100. In the description it stated that it was a leather handbag. When I received the handbag it was clearly not leather. This place is a rip off! Stay away!"
"I can not say enough terrible things about this crooked company. I have been in business, both corporate and as an owner for 25 years and this company is a sham! I sent over 5 overstuffed bags for selling and they have flat-out stolen from me. I thought that I had done my due diligence when I investigated online consignment, they came up frequently as a decent company. I was aware that their payouts were less than other companies but, honestly, it was worth it to me to let the online company do all the work, take the photos, list the items, etc. My mistake was that I didn't read the reviews from actual sellers. ALL of the clothes that I sent were gorgeous, clean, designer and in great condition-some still with tags. The list of labels included Dolce & Gabbana, White House/Black Market, Max Azria, Speigel, Donna Karan, Prada, in other words, there was nothing that didn't have a major label on it. There were $1,000's of dollars worth of clothing. When they received my kit, they sent me an email that they accepted 54% of the items, which seemed low to me. I went on my online profile to see what was accepted and was surprised to see that a $1,400 D&G black wool overcoat (sent in February, by the way. Not July!) was not accepted. I live in Florida so it was worn only a handful of times and Carrie Bradshaw wore the EXACT same coat in an episode of **** and the City. It made me very suspicious, so I did some digging around. Wouldn't you know that I found my D&G overcoat for sale on the website, same coat, same size but in another seller's profile. Now I was really suspicious, so I continued to search for more items of mine that they claimed were unsellable and continued to find them for sale in other seller's profile-same clothes, all the same size as what I sent. You think this is COINCIDENCE!! NO WAY! This company is taking the nicest items from seller's and claiming that the clothing "didn't make their cut" and then selling them, probably on their own (dummy) profile for 100% profit!! So, they then claim that after ALL of the clothes I sent, I made $19.85. I couldn't believe it but decided to cash out and take what paltry money was there. When I tried to cash out (both with the Stripe and Paypal accounts) they claimed that they needed to verify my identity by emailing me a link to finish the cash out process. YEP!! YOU guessed it! They never sent the link, after repeated attempts of "cashing out". The email address that they have on file is correct, in fact I have received several emails from ThredUp in the past. I will do everything in my power to ensure that this fraud of a company goes out of business. I regret ever having anything to do with this company, I should have donated these gorgeous clothes to charity. At least I would feel good about it. There is nothing this company can do to convince me that they are not stealing from their clients and I have contacted the State's Attorney Office in California, which is where the headquarters are and I encourage EVERY seller with a similar experience to do the same. I have also contacted the Better Business Bureau."
"I wish I had read the seller reviews for thredUP instead of just the general buyer reviews. Just to give you an idea of the quality of clothing I sent them: Brooks Brothers blazer, Talbots non-iron button up shirts, NEVER warn Talbots sweaters, and Ann Taylor pants. Roughly $800 worth of clothing. You send them your items, but they don’t pay you for them, you have to wait until they sell. I have now waited 2 months, so some of the clothing is out of season now. They said they couldn’t accept 1/2 of the items I sent, even though brand new. Yet, I see them posting similar items for sale. The amount of $$ they want to give you for high end clothing is laughable ($30 total). I wish I could get my items back and sell to someone else. Never again. "
"I have been using ThredUp to clean my closets & have also purchased items for a few years & it's been going downhill for a while now. The last clean-out bag I sent had several items that were brand new with tags still on them that were never processed. When I wrote to customer service it took them 2 weeks to respond to tell me those items didn't meet their "quality standards". Of course there is no detailed list of what isn't accepted & why, just their arbitrary behind-a-screen anonymous excuses. This is a website who prides itself on gently used luxury brands for less. The items I sent included 3 pair of BRAND NEW NEVER WORN TAGS-STILL-ON (from Nordstrom) VINEYARD VINES SHORTS. Don't tell me these items didn't meet quality standards when you're offering used Target brand t-shirts for $2.99. They have yet to reply to my email disputing their "explanation" for my things not being accepted & given the reviews I've been reading I won't be receiving one. I will not be sending them anything else from my closets only to be ripped off again & unfortunately I have a credit with them that will most likely go unused as well as the last dress I ordered had a hole right there in the middle of the chest! Who is checking these clean-out bags & who is stealing the good stuff for themselves???!!"
"I ordered from this company. The total amount they charged my card was not the amount I had at checkout. It was double! Also, several items were nonrefundable and if I wanted to return the ones that are not, I’d only be refunded half of what I inadvertently paid. And how I know I’m not crazy is because I took a screenshot beforehand. "
"
Hi sent thredup a box with a coach handbag, a coach wristlet purse, a pair of sneakers with the tags( never been worn), and a pair of leather booties ( barely worn). They gave me $21. At the end of this deal I felt robbed and insulted. As a seller I would never use their site because they rip you off and turn around and make a profit at your expense. You are better off using poshmark, eBay, or just donating to goodwill. There is nothing they could say to justify the amount they gave me. I Have sold things second hand and purchased things second hand. What they paid me was just wrong."
"Not 1 single person to talk to about errors their site put up while trying to place an order. Most companies cease to provide customer service after they have your money but Thredup is ahead of the curve and they don't give s#@t before they get your $. Customer service Chat is a total joke...hasn't worked in days...probably never did! If email is the only option then someone should be replying to my emails don't ya' think? Nope, apparently not! I'd give no stars if I could!
Be aware that if you can place an order there is absolutely NO way to get a human to talk to if you have a problem with what the send you...I just spent 4 days trying to get someone from so-called 'Customer service' to help ---without luck---I give up!"
"The process of perusing, ordering and paying was easy. The shipping was fast. HOWEVER, the description is less than accurate. I purchased a dress that was described as, "...gently used with minor signs of wear (minor fading...)" Umm, no. It was MORE than "gently" used with major signs of wear ALL throughout. It looked like the person sat on concrete every time she wore it because the derierr part was all roughed up. No way the description matched the dress. Very disappointed."
"I purchase a pair of womens jeans. shipping was high and slow-over 2 weeks to receive product. When I opened the package, I saw it was a pair of childrens jeans instead of adult. There is a re stocking fee and you have to pay for shipping again. Bottom line is I could have purchased a new pair jeans for what I have paid for a pair I no longer have. Buyer beware"
"Really no standards in what they purchase and sell. Last order had a hole in the top that was listed as “like new” and a 3x was actually a small!! They refunded 1/4 of what I paid even though it was their mistake. They only take 40% of what I sent to them- understandable, but why is so much of it overpriced Walmart crap?? Take WAY TOO LONG to process items unless you pay their extra fee. Customer service **** all around. HORRIBLE COMPANY THAT SELLS OVERPRICED YARD SALE LEFTOVERS!"
