"After doing some online research, I purchased a Gamer's Edge 1500 desktop computer from Velocity Micro. I decided to go with Velocity Micro based on the reviews of some of it's products. The reviews have been nearly uniformly, very positive. A couple of my requirements were a computer that is not crammed with bloatware, use of high quality hardware, the ability to configure my purchase, and the ability to get the CDs for the operating system and related software and drivers in case a harddrive rebuild becomes necessary.

I am pleased to report that Velocity Micro has hit a home run with the bases loaded. The online purchase was easy and very informative. I was able to pick all the hardware I wanted, not just what "the package" provided. All of the hardware is first quality, up-to-date stuff; stuff that I would use if I was putting the machine together myself.

For less then the price of a major online computer retailer's desktop I have gotten a wonderful machine with only the software I requested and all necessary backup CDs and documents in a nice folder with labeled dividers.

I am so pleased with the computer that I called today to upgrade my warranty from one year to three years of onsite support since things do go wrong; we are talking about a computer after all. I was told they had never had such a request; the representative put me on hold for a bit, then came back on to say he'd spoken with the company president who'd said "yes that's a good idea! We can upgrade the warranty within 30 days of the purchase." Now that's customer service!

By the way, I have had a problem with the wireless access adapter, so after only one phone call, and a bit of diagnosis, I received a new adapter in the mail yesterday (a few days after my tech call) and a Velocity Micro represnentative is on the way to my house now, at 6 p.m., to install the new card.

Am I happy with my purchase? If I could afford it, I'd be buying my family and friends Velocity Micro computers! Needless to say, when someone mentions the need for a new computer, I have only two words: Velocity Micro.

"First off, I was on the verge of clicking "buy" at Cyberpower's web site, but I'm glad I didn't after reading some of the comments on here. Secondly, the components and parts and build quality would never have matched the excellent service I received from Velocity Micro, so I'm glad I chose them! The ordering process was simple, the prices were good, and the live help on the site was very friendly and informative. I was kept up to date with the whole building/testing/shipping process, and the customer service folks were happy to answer my technical questions with aplomb. The PC arrived well-packaged and in perfect working order. Velocity include all the bits and pieces you'll need if you choose to add to your hardware, and their wiring inside is very clean (though, unfortunately i had to untangle it all to add an extra hard drive and graphics card). Velocity also includes all your drivers that they installed on YOUR computer in case you need them, they don't fill up the machine with useless, worthless software, you got a CD of Windows, and best of all, the DVD rescue disc image is a revelation and extremely useful. I have not been back in touch with Velocity Micro since I made my purchase. In many ways, this is the purest sign of a very satisfied customer!"

"I chose Velocity Micro mainly due to this web site. Somebody at the VM company headquarters actually reads these reviews and posts responses. I didn't see any other company make that kind of effort to seek feedback from its customers. Anyone who takes that extra step gets my business.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my new DualX computer. I would recommend buying from this company to anyone looking for a mid to high end system.

Placing the order was simple. When I called to confirm the order, the sales person was pleasant. I received email updates on the progress of my purchase. I had no problems with shipping, the computer arrived on time.

Two months later I noticed the 8-in-1 floppy drive & media reader was not working. I called customer support and spoke with a friendly tech who quickly helped me fix the problem (disconnected wire).

Performance is great, all my applications and games run smoothly. I had always bought HP or Dell in the past due to their low cost and always hated the mass of bundled software and demo programs that came with the computer. Velocity ships their computers out with only what you order - a nice feature.

When it’s time to upgrade again, I’ll be a returning customer.

"DO NOT BUY FROM VELOCITY MICRO!!! THEY ARE COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT!!!

I ordered a computer from Velocity Micro in early March and they delivered it in late March. The computer did not boot. On the advice of their tech support I tried using the "System Restore" cd they had provided. It didn't work. They told me to reinstall windows from scratch. It blue screened on install. They asked me to run the WD problem diagnosis program on the hard drives, both failed. They shipped me new hard drives and promised to send a guy to install them because trying to fix this computer had already consumed many hours of my time. The guy never showed up so I ended up doing it myself. The new hard drives still failed. At this point they asked me to ship the computer back to them for repairs which I did. They kept the computer for nearly a month and when I called to check on it they gave vague excuses like "we have got the games working but the video in the games still doesn't work" (?!) Eventually, I got notice that they had sent me a package (overnight, no less). Thinking that they might have finally fixed the computer, I eagerly awaited it. It turned out that it wasn't the computer though, it was a bunch of random cds and a note from Heather to Steve (not my name) saying that she enjoyed talking to Steve. I told the company about their mistake, they never responded.

Eventually, they shipped me back the computer (ground). It again did not boot. This time though I managed to get it into windows by using "VGA mode" which didn't work the previous time. But once in windows, I found more problems. 3d applications caused the screen to scatter into garbage. I tried to use the system restore cd which actually worked this time but was no help in fixing any of the problems. I tried reinstalling windows from scratch and got the same blue screen. I investigated the blue screen and found out it was a known problem with the motherboard they had chosen to use. Velocity Micro had no solution for me except that they were taking up the issue with ASUS (now? how about two months ago when they must have first realized this problem?). I managed to get windows to install by disabling some important parts of the bios but still 3d applications will not work and the computer blue screens or reboots itself at the slightest provocation (e.g. leave a bootable cd in the drive at boot up? reboots itself even if you tell it NOT to boot from cd).

The only solution Velocity Micro has offered me after they have twice shipped me a severly defective computer is to send it back to them so I can wait for god knows how long to ship me another probably defective computer. They refuse to return my money even after three months of being unable to ship me a working computer.

BEWARE OF VELOCITY MICRO!!! GO WITH SOMEONE THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!

"We ordered 7 high end Development Workstations. We had preferred in the past to build our own, but that's too time consuming. I found that Velocity Micro allowed us to "custom" build our machines without having to actually build it ourselves. I loved the fact that I wasn't stuck with whatever crap processors Dell sells and was actually able to order exactly what I wanted.

The price premium paid was in fact cheaper than Dell since I didn't have to take super expensive video cards in order to get the processor I wanted. It was also a modest premium over building these machines ourselves.

The order process was painless and they communicated very well along the way. They responded to all of my custom requests and did their best to meet my requests.

I was super-impressed by the build quality. They were better than the machines I build myself! I also love that I have the actual install disk for XP and Office unlike most other companies.

Overall I am very satisfied and intend to order more desktops and servers from VM!

"My experiance with Velocity Micro customer service was great! When my computer (Gamers Edge Dual X)arrived I was having major issues whenever I would launch any games. I would get screen flicker which would progress to the point that I could not see the screen at all. This was an issue whenever I had both cards installed for SLI. The computer ran great on one card.

I called tech support and they had me reinstall the drivers which worked for a day. I then called tech support on Easter Sunday and got a call back in 15 minutes (AMAZING!) It was thought to be a graphics card problem so they overnighted a new card. That did not fix the problem so they sent a new SLI bridge and jsut in case it was more than that they were sending a new motherboard and a tech to my house.

All of this within a week of the problem. The motherboard was replaced and did not fix the problem. It turns out that it is a new issue with the NVIDEA 7900GT cards being underclocked and poor drivers. Tech support helped me with this and I found more info on NVIDEAS forums. The Velocity staff went well out of their way on weekends, after hours, and holdiays to make sure my new computer worked. When I found out information that might help they were willing to hear me out and help me through it.

I will be buying my next computer from them as well.

"Ordering process and customer notifications of status of equipment is one of the best I have seen. Knowlegable sales staff. Received new system 1 day earlier than projected. Eqipment arrived in good condition. One minor complaint which I have seen before on this site is that the CPU cooling fan had come loose from the heat sink during shipping. No biggie as I opened the case as soon as I received it anyway. All in all and excellent experience and would deal with them again in the future.

"I purchased an upgraded DualX with FX-60 processor, A8N32 motherboard, 2048 MB memory, RAID 0 400 GB hard drives, and 512 mb 7900 GTX video card. For some reason it was $75 cheaper than a Raptor 64 with the same configuration.

The customer service has been nothing short of outstanding. From the purchase decisions before the sale to the internet connection problem after the sale. A real live Virginian is on the phone every time you call within 3-5 minutes. (Try that with Dell!) They know what they are talking about, and are quick to get to the bottom of things. There is no broken English out-of-country tech support number making you wait 30 minutes like at Dell only to begin by asking you if the computer is plugged in.

The case is beautiful and demonstated graphics awesome. Unfortunately the computer would not allow an internet connection from day one and it had to be returned for a complete rebuild. It is currently on its way back to VM for this action but it does not prevent me from giving them the highest praise. They care and it shows in their phone calls and emails about this problem. I know it will be corrected soon.

Our last computer was a D--L and it worked out of the box but eventually proved to be an aboslute lemon. You name a part, it quit working. Tech support was more than a chore to deal with. It was enough to say never again.

Velocity seems to know how to make a potential lemon into lemonade and even as I sit here writing this review on an old IBM laptop, I know they are going to make it right. This problem does make me wonder if one of their lab tests before shipping includes an ethernet connectivity test. If not, it should.

Update: The computer is back and was perfect the whole time. Comcast technicians came out and reset the modem. This unfortunately was after Comcast had told us the problem was with the computer. Only after VM ruled it out completely, did they come out and fix their problem.

Velocity Micro ended up getting the short end of the stick with all the time and shipping they had to do but they were unbelievably patient, quick, and professional the whole time. Velocity Micro absolutely deserves the highest praise for their customer service and the computer is awesome.

Many people can put together good components but few offer service like this. AND they use retail parts, not OEM crap like the mega-sellers use. Perfect!

"I purchased a Velocity Micro system recently and it was the best experience I’ve had purchasing a pc. The last two pc’s I bought had problems with graphics cards, disk drives, etc. and usually required a couple of weeks of tweaking to get them up to speed. With Velocity Micro I received emails informing me of the current status of my pc throughout the order and build process. The pc has been running solid right out of the box. Also, the case is quiet and attractive.

Highly recommended.

"My issues are with an older order. But overall, the experience was so continually frustrating that I feel compelled to add more here.....

I originally purchased a Velocity Raptor 64dual X system for a whopping $5,500. I had hoped to avoid the issues with a prior Dell (false branded parts and poor support), and expected the high price would assure both good service and product.

Sadly I had issues from the start. The water cooling they have was extremely loud (not 'quiet efficient cooling' as advertised). It was also poorly designed. My system shut off continually due to heat issues. I had the system returned several times, usually ending up with the same problem (one time even receiving the system back with fans installed backwards and missing screws, among other issues). I also had a major power issue, one that occurred the day before a major graphics project (a midterm) was due. Support wasn't able to help fast enough, and the only option I had was a temp replacement of the power unit before sending it back. Sadly this seems to be all the excuse they needed to void the warranty for any future electrical issues (which in a computer, can be pretty much everything!).

In the end most of my issues weren't eliminated. And while I still have the system today, it's still in the same miserable shape. Constant crashes and lockups, etc.

I made two last efforts to get my issues remedied. The last was a month before the extended warranty ran out. I was merely told by the tech that "we're not gonna do anything to help". Afterwards I wrote a letter to the company president, and was met with the same excuse/answer by his 'assistant'. In fact, the rep stated they never received the letter despite having a signed return receipt from their office!

I spent way too much money for the end product and have NOTHING but major regrets. Velocity Micro took every cent I sent, with nothing but a shoddy product and workmanship in return. And while it's been a long time since the original order, all I ever asked was a fair exchange for my money and patience.......major fail on both counts

"Ok! Here is my review of my Velocity Micro pc after 5 months of rough use, and do I mean rough! I work for an Oil and Gas Exploration company doing their legal title work and I have to travel around A LOT! I'd been looking at a lot of different companies before making my choice. From aliens in Miami to voodoo doctors in Canada, what made me choose Velocity Micro was that I saw one of their computers at my local Best Buy. The product was exquisite. The wiring was neat and out of the way, cooling was intelligent and the case was very high quality. So I bought one and had it delivered to the hotel where I was staying at the time. It arrived perfectly from Velocity Micro. I guess that Best Buy only shows the computers, the order goes to Velocity Micro where it was built and then shipped to me. Anyway, I set it up and installed my first game and I couldn't believe how incredible it performed. In the five months since it has never hung, blue screened, or frozen on me. I really can't tell you how great this computer is! I have transported it through New York State, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and it still hasn't failed me. Thanks Velocity Micro, I am a loyal customer for life. "

"I usually build my gaming PC myself. But due to shortage of time, I decided to go for an OEM. After extensive research I decided to buy a custom gaming PC from Velocity Micro. I am tech savvy, but I was impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of Velocity Micro's staff. The process from sales to delivery was smooth. They kept me informed through emails about the status of my PC and the PC arrived few days earlier than promised.

The packaging was solid. The PC is a joy to look at. Bery esthetically pleasing, simple and elegent. As promised, the PC makes very little noise (considering it is a dual core Athelon with 2x 7800GT SLI cards). The disk organization was very clean and only the software I asked was installed. No clutter. All the software and drivers were up-to-date. The build quality is great.

To sum up, I had the best experience buying a PC (so far my other PC/Laptops have been from Dell due to employee discounts). Velocity's technical support is based in US and is far superior to its competitiors I have dealt with. The price is a little higher than that of Dell, HP etc, but lower than its gaming PC manufacturers. I would highly recommend Velocity Micro.

After receiving the PC I started experiencing intermittent power trips when starting the PC. Initially I thought it might be due to the wiring in my house, but more tests indicated this may not be the case. So, i contacted Velocity Micro tech support. Scott D. was extremely helpful and he suspected the power supply to be defective. He sent me prepaid UPS label to ship it back to them. Upon arrival, Jason R. tested my PC but could not reproduce the problem. However, he trusted me and replaced the power supply at no charge. I received the PC today and I am glad to find that the problem has been resolved. Thank you Velocity Micro, you are the best.

"I blew up the motherboard on my B50 Ultra laptop as a result of static electric shock while intructing at a conference in Virginia. I was devistated. I called Velocity Micro, told them where I was and was told to drive over to see what they could do to help. Although the motherboard had met its final fate, the customer service department took the time to retreive my hard drive, place it in a USB Cool Max so I could retreive all of my critical data while I waited. They have been nothing short of fantastic in every aspect of this situation. My system has been repaired and is on the way back as I write.

I was a Dell customer for years. After dealing with overseas service calls and a level of frustration beyond comprehension, I found Velocity Micro. I now own 3 systems. From initial sales to tech savy service and support, Micro Velocity has my vote.

Of course, the best complement I could ever give is the fact that (other than stupid moves on my part) I have not needed warranty service or customer support on any of my three systems. I think that speaks volumes.

Thanks Velocity Micro for building a great system and for fostering a high level of technical knowhow and friendly, professional customer support.

"Stay away from Velocity Micro!!! I had researched this company & all the good reviews. It was a nightmare for me! I purchase the PC in late Nov. Returned it twice. It took weeks in between for them to return it. This is March 2006 & I became so fed up that cancelled everything with them. They walked away with $200 (restocking fee) for lousey service. I lost $$ & gained months of frustration. When I made a purchase in Nov. That meant I needed a working PC soon after. Not the following spring. They have punished me for their poor performance. BEWARE!"

"The quality of service from Velocity Micro is to be commended. After receiving my order, I noticed that the form supplied for a rebate had expired. After contacting VM, I was assured that the form would be honored by company affording the rebate. This quick response from VM Customer Care was welcomed.

I also encountered a discrepancy in products received in that a remote, IR receiver, and Entertainment Center software was not supplied with the sound card which I ordered. After a number of contacts made with VM, they shipped an overnight order with the items that were missing. This is another instance of customer care afforded by VM.

I am thoroughly satisfied with all areas of VM’s products, service, and the care they keep with customers. I would recommend VM to all who want the best in a reliable PC vendor.
