"First of all, this is the third Velocity computer I've bought. I've always been impressed with their no-bloatware approach. This computer arrived already Windows already authenticated and the system knowing my name. I set it up the first day but I never heard a sound from the computer. So I called The tech support number on my computer and gave the tech the number on the sticker. Apparently that number is the name of this specific piece of hardware. Anyway, after a few questions, the tech initiated a remote session and twenty minutes later he had reinstalled the audio drivers and the machine was chiming away to its hearts content :) I also like the fact that whenever I call Velocity support, the person answering speaks American English - makes communication much easier, at least for this old geezer!
Velocity is not the cheapest out there, but the small amount of additional dollars is worth the EXCELLENT service for a machine I expect to be using for at least five years."
"From the outset, Paul was very helpful with my questions and requests! The computer shipped just a week after the expected date (as previously communicated by Paul). Packing was OUTSTANDING and in spite of UPS damaging the exterior box, everything inside was fine. Class operation! Packing, care, accessories, and "bling" were all more than expected. "I normally build my own systems, however with gpus being hard to come by, I went the prebuilt route, and I'm glad that I did. I've never worked with a more courteous and knowledgeable group than velocity micro. The PC I customized with them is top notch and top of the line, I've never been more pleased with a purchase."
"I wanted this to be great...and it might have been, but customer service and an aversion to eating it on a build they screwed up killed this experience. Ultimately, they would not eat the price of shipping for a clear mistake on their part to fix what turned out to be a fairly simple, inexpensive problem. I don't build computers, so I couldn't tell, and I spent a year completely frustrated.
I reported problems within two weeks. They stretched out support to over 90 days, and when I said I needed them to take the tower back and fix the problem, they refused, saying I had passed the 90 day mark for free shipping. Initially, they wanted to charge me full price for shipping to Hawai'i despite both the site and the cost calculator mentioning nothing about continental free shipping only at the time (it may now, I don't know or care). They offered a compromise instead of following through and changing policy after my case, so I still paid about $100 after paying for the computer just to get the faulty machine sent to me in the first place.
The problem was idiotic and had nothing to do with the shipping. When I finally gave up on them and had a friend who builds computers look at it, I could see myself that the CPU fan and heat sink were quite literally installed incorrectly by 90 degrees, meaning it never sat properly and was the cause of the blue screens, something you would think they would check, except that would mean paying for shipping to fix their screw-up, which they were not about to do. My friend added new thermal paste, which was clearly just a greasy smudge originally that left open metal visible, and he reseated the fan/sink which required turning everything by 90 degrees to the position it was meant to be screwed in. My cores immediately starting running at far lower temps (like 40 degrees C cooler) on startup and so far, I may finally have a computer that works...with no help from Velocity.
If you get lucky and it's built properly, it's probably going to be great...hence all the high ratings that caused me to seek them out. Just hope nothing goes wrong. Maybe you'll get lucky."
"this is my 3rd vm computer i have purchased. one desk top and 2 laptops. i just received my second laptop. i am a disabled veteran with a tbi and i have dizziness and balance issues. i dropped my first velocity laptop too many times. i like that there is no bloatware, you can option them up exactly what you need. they run flawlessly. the dropped laptop still works but i will have to do some repairs myself. trust me, i tried to save some money and purchased an asus laptop from a dealer on ebay...you get what you pay for. i didnt get my hdd in the computer. and this asus is so cheap. yes i saved money and got something that is nothing. velocity micro are the best computers i have ever purchased , hands down. I actually first ordered a computer from another company, but the expected ship date was five months away! I cancelled that and ordered a Velocity Micro laptop. It had it in my hands in two and a half weeks!
