"I recently purchased Zager strings for my Taylor GS mini. I am a beginner and have only used the Elixer strings Taylor suggests for their guitars. I decided to give these a try out of curiosity and because I like to support smaller companies. Had I known about them when I purchased my GS I would have probably given a Zager guitar a try. The strings are everything and much more than they state on their site. It made my guitar much easier to play and really brightened the sound of the mahogany body. I am so impressed that strings could make that large a difference. A friend purchased a mini the same time I did as a travel guitar and he was over last night and could not believe how much better my guitar played than his with these strings. The guitars are identical except for the strings. They include a pick and fret board conditioner in each pack and both are really nice as well. I will only be using the Zager strings in the future and look forward to eventually getting one of their beautiful guitars.Finally, the customer service is top notch. Great job!!"

"I seldom if ever write reviews, but my recent purchase of a Zager 20-E demands that I let someone or everybody know what a beautiful instrument Zager is turning out. I'm only a "home player" but found the quality and workmanship of this instrument exceeding or comparable to much more expensive guitars I've tried in local music shops. Plugged or unplugged, the tone and consistent response (up the neck) makes this a pleasure to play and has already alleviated a lot of frustration for this amateur player :-). While I was concerned previously that the neck width might be a hindrance (I have small hands) I've found the additional space between the strings a definite advantage (I like to finger pick) and the consistent width not a problem. It really is easy to play! The set up was perfect right out of the box. I'm also impressed with the strings. "I was looking for a solid body acoustic travel guitar to replace the travel guitar which I gave to my daughter-in-law which has laminate sides and back which I don't like the sound of. I found very few and they were expensive. The Zager was priced fairly and not only had a solid body but it has the option of no electronics and I did not want electronics. So, it was what I wanted and it has a HSC with a humidifier which was beyond what I wanted, very nice. Got the guitar in less than a week, it was solidly packed, no problems. I like the sound and the action is outstanding. I have no complaints and only wish I could have found this guitar sooner, my daughter-in-law was also impressed. Again, solid woods sound good and the story you get from very large companies that it really does not matter bothers me, because it is not true."

I deal with a lot of companies, both personally and through my profession, and I must tell you that you folks have the best communication and information response to emails of any company I have dealt with and the ZAD80CE that I have currently is the nicest acoustic guitar I have ever owned...and I have owned more than a few.

Due to a severe burn injury that I experienced 20yrs ago, I was left with chronic pain, weakness in my arms/hands, and impaired dexterity in the fingers of both my hands. The Easy-Play set-up that you built into my ZAD80CE produced the only acoustic guitar that I have been able to play since my accident. I went for several years after the accident without the ability to have music in my life and I honestly thought that I would never be able to play music again, until I found you folks and your great guitars. The ZAD80CE allowed me to start playing again. The neck design, string spacing, fret finishing, and string height set-up are the key characteristics to its superior intonation and playability. I had tried many “brand name” and custom/hand-made acoustic guitars without being able to comfortably or effectively play any of them (Martin, several upper models of Taylor, Gibson, Epiphone and Lowden acoustic guitars...to name a few). My ZAD80CE allows me to play for much longer and with better tone, even though I still have diminished strength and dexterity in my hands and fingers.

It is for these reasons that I am purchasing another Zager guitar and now moving up to the flagship ZAD900E-series guitar. Additionally, your ability and willingness to customize and to add the new Fishman Aura Pro Imaging pickup system to the standard full-body ZAD900 seems to me to be the perfect blend of quality materials and workmanship, traditional design/styling, and new imaging pickup technology. I believe that this will make for a really nice combination of tone/sound/volume and playability along with the finest acoustic guitar pick-up system available. I look forward to playing it.

"I am a Disabled Marine Corps Veteran. I suffer from Neuropathy and Parkinson's. I quit playing the guitar two years ago because my fingers no longer could handle the pain pressing down on the strings. I thought I would never play again. It has a deeper bass sound and plays great. The Zager people give outstanding service to their customers. Dennis and his staff kept me abreast of delivery and production all the way till I received it. They have given me excellent advice and tips on playing. I have been playing guitar since I was 18 years old. I found out I have not been putting my strings on my guitar the correct way and that is why my strings kept going out of tune. Watching the video with Mr Zager on how to put strings on allowed me to do it on my guitar. It worked! Now I am studying his tape with all the instructions for picking and playing. "I’ve now had an opportunity to compare my ZAD900ce and my new ZAD900e (full box dreadnaught) that found its way to our home recently. They are, as far as my hearing is capable of determining, dead-on equal. Absolutely excellent tonal expression, resonance, and punch. Both of my Zager instruments are equal in build quality, finish, and sound as the Martin D-35 that was my pride and joy some years ago. I came to Zager pretty much a skeptic and was blown away with my “test drive” of my first purchase the ZAD900CE. I called it a test drive because I fully intended to really test the free return policy. To keep this short... it was not returned. That was a few months ago. Since then I also purchased the 900E full box dreadnaught; both with the Fishman Aura electronics. Bottom line? You just can’t go wrong. "Short version:
Upfront, I have to say that I have no experience with Gibson, Martin or Taylor acoustic guitars, so I can't comment on how well the Zager matches up to them. But what I can tell you is that this is the finest guitar I've ever held/played and the Zager customer service is second to none in any business dealings I've ever had in my life (54 years old). Their website and reviews brought me in, their customer service and gorgeous guitars have made me a customer for life.
Long version:
I had a decent Breedlove acoustic that had good, low action that I started learning on. After a year, I was still playing every day and I wanted to get a 'really nice' guitar. I came across the Zager website via ultimate-guitar.com and started doing research. It's nearly impossible to find a bad review, so I was very interested, but hadn't really considered spending over a $1000 on a guitar. I was looking at the ZAD20's and ZAD50's, but I made the mistake of looking at the ZAD80CE and it was love at first sight.
After a few days of talking myself into it, I talked to Dennis and put a down payment. How many companies just do layaway anymore? Zager does. After discussing it with him, he had a previous year's model that he said he could work with me on price and we agreed. (Again, could you do this with Gibson or Martin or Taylor?) After about 6 weeks, I'd put the funds together and Dennis said he'd process the order, even going as far as to bringing his Dad in on the weekend to do the inspection on it so he could ship it first thing Monday (!!!). I was bummed to hear back that the guitar had a crack in an internal brace and they just couldn't send me a guitar in that condition. Dennis said he'd get back to me about another one.
After 1 day, he said they'd scoured their vault and found a couple of guitars and he sent me some photos. He said that I could pick from one of them OR due to my troubles already, he'd have his Dad make me a new guitar. Being the impatient person that I am, I picked one that Dennis said had a small blemish on the front because they were backed up on new guitars. (He made sure that I knew that if I wasn't happy with it, they'd still make me a new one.) He shipped it out the next day. When I opened the case, my breath was, literally, taken away. This is a spectacularly beautiful guitar! Unfortunately, after a few minutes, I found the blemish and then that was all I could see. I emailed him back and let him know that other than the blemish, the guitar was spectacular, but I couldn't justify spending that much money on something that had a tiny ding on the front. (Back or side, I think I could've lived with it, but not the front.) He said, no problem. They'd put me in line for a new one, but hey, since you already have that one, go ahead and use it until the new one gets there. (SERIOUSLY! Since the new ones were delayed, I kept asking, can I/should I keep playing this guitar and he said, no problem.)
So, bottom line, I had a $1700 guitar that they let me play for about 9 weeks and then I got my new one and it is PERFECT in every way! It is beautiful! It sounds awesome! It's easy to play (as advertised)! I just can't say enough good things about it. I read a review that someone had purchased the OM size because they had shoulder problems after playing for more than an hour with their full size guitar and the OM size alleviated that issue. I can confirm that it does the same thing for me!
Zager has made a customer for life with me. Spectacular guitar! Spectacular customer service! (and believe me, I had to be a pain with ALL of my emails, but Dennis and Amanda were ALWAYS patient with me). I told Dennis the other day that I'm glad the Tobacco Sunburst they have on their site now wasn't there when I bought mine, because I would've talked myself into spending another $1000 : )"

I'd been lusting after a Zager for some time now, I just didn't have the money. But then last week, I located a woman not far from me who was selling hers. It's a sunburst 20 acoustic-electric, that came in not only the case but all the accessories and the carboard Zager boxing.
I paid $500 for it and I have to tell you it is one beautiful guitar in pristine condition and sounds terrific. I'm not real guitar player, rather I'm a novelist who has written dozens of Western and historical novels. And in my frequent breaks from the keyboard, I like to pluck and try and learn a little something new. And besides, guitars to me are works of art. I have an Epiphone Cutaway A/E that I'd been playing on. But the Zager simply blows the Epiphone away and my new favorite.
I'm hoping that by next year I'll be able to buy a Z50 cutaway. That's how much I love the Zager. You and your father build one hell of a musical instrument, and I will treasure mine. I plan on giving it to my youngest son when I pass away. I want it to remain in our family for a very long time.
