"I finally received my Zager 900CE after long delays due to Covid, beyond Zagers control. And I love it. I own two Martins, a J65 and a D16, and I have to say, this Zager plays easier and sounds crisper than the Martins. I never thought I would ever say that, but it is what it is. "
"Finest quality workmanship and playability…
I wish I had a Zager guitar when I was first learning to play. I just bought my first Zager, and it’s a top-notch guitar. The quality and playability are just as advertised, and with the awesome case and accessories (included!), at these prices?…. phenomenal!! I’m delighted to own mine. Really… If you’re considering a more well-known brand, I urge you to try a Zager guitar first. There’s no reason not to. You can send it back at no cost if you wish, but I’ll bet you’ll keep it. Visit the Zager website for the whole story"
"Worth the wait. Beautiful and quality craftsmanship.
Lots of extras. It is easier for my arthritic fingers. Zager very prompt in responding to questions and lots of support on their website. Had my first guitar at 13, self taught so not a great player but always was my go to. I shopped around and even returned another guitar before deciding on a Zager guitar. So glad I did! 85539I am retired now so have the time to get those fingers back in shape. This guitar is like finding an old friend.
I hope to pass it on to a grandchild someday."
"The guitar I purchased from Zager is awesome.. I started learning on a lesser guitar and everything they say is true. The Zager guitar is easier, much easier, sounds better and the strings allow me to practice much longer… It took a while to get it after ordering, you have to be patient, but well worth the wait, and the folks at Zager communicate with you and give updates throughout the process. They were very responsive. I am very proud of my purchase and look forward to improving my skills with it"
"On Wednesday July 14 2021 I received my Zager Guitar, and when I unpacked it
and opened the case the most beautiful looking guitar I have ever seen looked back at me. I tuned it and played it. I must say that I am very pleased with the playability and the sound quality, this was the first guitar I purchased with out playing it first, and I am very impressed. It is more than I expected and it exceeded all of my expectations. the finish of the guitar is the best quality I have seen, and the neck is silky smooth and lets your hand slide up and down the neck with ease. I would recommend the Zager Guitar Co. to anyone who wants the very best in a guitar. And I also noticed that the back top left of the guitar was hand signed by Denny Zager.
Thanks for the best guitar I have ever owned

"Excellent from the outset, but let's address my concerns first. Not necessarily negative, but there's a couple of issues you may want to consider. First, I placed my order in February and it arrived today, July 15th. If I had it to do over again, I would have called the company and spoken with a salesman and maybe would have selected a less popular model or at least explored options to shorten the process. That being said, the customer service was outstanding. I often emailed the company to ask for updates on the status of my order and they always replied the same day.
Second, Zager's are spendy instruments. But if you look at value, then this possible negative turns into a big plus. I believe the Zager is every bit the guitar as a Martin or Taylor or even better. This is a high end guitar at a fairly moderate price. The popularity and demand of Zager's can be a bit of a drawback, because as well as a long wait to get one, it's virtually impossible to put your hands on one until you buy it and it arrives at your doorstep. This is at least a little offset by the excellent customer service and money back guarantee.
Lastly, I'm not convinced of the "easy play" aspect that's advertised. To be fair, they tell you upfront the factory set-up is not the easy play configuration, so maybe I need to spend some time tweeking the settings before I pass judgement. I hope it's something I can figure out myself. The local guru downtown already quoted me $100 to alter the set-up.
On to the positive. It was really fun to open the box. Everything was shipped in a very secure manner and I found all kinds of swag as I dug deeper. There was a leather Zager strap, a glossy picture of Zager and Evans, a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Mr. Zager and even a thank-you note hand written by Mr. Zager. The attention to detail was impressive. They included a 9 volt battery and even the onboard tuner seems to function adequately.
As you would expect, the guitar is absolutely beautiful and the workmanship is outstanding. No buzzing that's not operator error and the tone is excellent. My biggest challenge may be wrestling it away from my kids. Less than an hour after it arrived, my son asked if he could borrow it for a recording. To be fair that's one of the reasons I picked that particular model. Also, it came with a high quality hard case that gives me some confidence as it's packed out the door by a teenage boy."
"Needless to say, I am so happy with my new ZAD50CE Acoustic Electric Vintage Sunburst Zager guitar. Beside the beautiful quality and construction, I am amazed with the clean and crisp tone it gives. I just put away my HD28 Martin Knowing I will be playing this guitar for a very long time. If anyone is looking for a top quality, great sounding guitar, check out Zager Guitars online.
Mahalo Denny for including the extras.
Best regards, John Awa"
"Beautiful craftsmanship and outstanding customer service!"
"Prompt, personalized, efficient customer service is rare these days but the folks at Zager have got it down! More importantly, their hand crafted guitars are extremely high quality and hands down the best value for the buck anywhere. I have an early 60's Martin D-28 and the sound of my ZAD900CE goes neck to neck with any and every day of the week!"
"Monday of this week, July 12th, just color me happy. I received my new ZAD80CE Cedar/Rosewood Acoustic Electric w/the “AURA” Pro Series electronics and am truly in love; in essence the quality of the workmanship is undeniable.
Straight out of the box it already blends well-defined and clear higher notes with warm and even tones that I believe will only improve with age.
The guitar arrived set up very well. Happy with string height, the neck feels comfortable, plays like a dream and the venetian cutaway allows good access to the upper frets. The Fishman AURA system is impressive with imaging, a transducer system, equalizer; kind of mind blowing. The built-in tuner is also a very handy feature. The guitar finish is perfect. The abalone trim is beautiful. The accompanying documentation is exactly what you want. In short, I just couldn’t be happier. I think I’ve purchased what will one day become a vintage classic.

"Although it took some months, my 50 series finally arrived. The guitar looks and sounds terrific. The electronics are easy to use. The craftsmanship and design are first rate. I have played guitar for 40 years and have owned many different instruments. This one is a keeper."
"I just received my new Zager ZAD900CE guitar and it's absolutely beautiful! The sound is incredible and I couldn't be more pleased with the quality abd service Zager has provided me! Thanks Dennis!"
"My case became damaged. Got a new one within days! "
"I have played Martin, Taylor, Gibson, and many others, and I’ve never had a guitar that sounds this beautiful. I couldn’t believe it at first, but it is easy to play. Love love love by ZAD80CE. I haven’t named it yet, but that’s coming too. "
"Qualifier:
I’ve been learning/playing for about 3 years. I started this journey late in life at 59. But, I’m a bit obsessive about playing. That is, I play every day for 3-5hrs. I split this up into two sessions a day (much to the chagrin of my wife).
How well do I play? I would guess that I’m a somewhat seasoned beginner. I have about 20 songs in my play book that I can play in what I call “phase 3”. For reference:
Phase 1 = Dude, I have no idea what you’re trying to play!
Phase 2 = Yeah, I think I hear a song in there somewhere.
Phase 3 = Oh, I know that song. Sounds good. Don’t quit your day job.
Phase 4 = WOW! That is awesome! (nothing I play is here).
What other acoustic guitars do I play?
Taylor 614ce Builders Edition
The ZAD20:
Ordering: Simple online process.
Delivery: Delayed due to pandemic.
Zager communication: Excellent. Kept me updated throughout the process.
Arrival: Arrived in Excellent condition.
Excellent hard case with the bonus of an onboard Hygrometer Thermometer built into case.
First impressions:
Super clean flawless finish.
Great looks.
Needed a quick tuning (expected).
Big bold sound similar to my Taylor.
Action is slightly higher than my Taylor as you move up the fretboard.
But, I expect as the guitar cures, action will improve with time.
And, in all fairness, I had a custom setup done on the Taylor.
Conclusion:
Would I recommend a Zager? Yup.
At this early stage, I’m very pleased with Zager and this product.
Looking forward to playing it much more in the coming weeks.
Bang for the buck? I don’t think you can beat this. Look, I’m an old dude with “capital” to work with.
Over the last several years I’ve purchased a number of higher end guitars (electric and acoustic).
The idea of the Zager was to have a lower cost guitar that I could take with me without having to handcuff it to my wrist.
What I feel like I got with the Zager is lower cost for sure but, also a much higher-end product than I expected. So, it looks like I’ll be buying handcuffs anyway!
I really don’t think you can go wrong with a Zager in your stable or, as a primary.
