"This is the most horrible online store I have ever made a purchase from..aprt from the worst shipment the customer service is the WORST..nothing can be worse than this..I think they are bunch of cheaters..and nothing else..I am completely frustrated with this store.. Ofcourse I made a mistake of not checking their store rating before ordering the book. This I will ensure will be my last mistake..What facility internet and technology brings in for people, junk stores like alibris actually degrade by undermining the confidence people have in tecehnologies.."

"Excellent service.
I found them from google checkout and tried them once, after getting the service, I ordered from two more times, and now I think I am going to order from them again and again.

I ordered a book from them, their websites said, its a used book in good condition, I thought I should give a try as the price was too low, upon arrival, I saw the book was in brand new condition with no name written on that, for a moment I was wondering why they are calling this book as "used book" it looks equal to new book, the book had no mark anywhere.

The shipping was good, it took around 1 week to come and I got a tracking id also from them the next day of my order.

and then 2nd time, when I thought of buying a book, in google checkout they were among the bookstore with lowest price and good condition, so I again order from them and my experience was same as above :) , good

3rd time, I got a hard bound book in 8% of the original price of the book and the only thing it has written is some one else name on the 2nd page and no other marks inside. and I think for the 8% of a $100+ book with hard bound is a very good deal with no marks, the shipping was good as before, took around a week.

now a days , I have suggested this book store to many of my friends also.

I am happy, and I will order from them again also.

"Possibly the worst store I've bought from. Being ripped off on E-bay is a better experience than shopping at Alibris. At least paypal will refund you your money pretty quickly. Alibris has descriptions that don't match the books. And there is no user-review system in place so that you know which sellers to trust. The rating system they DO have is not a user-rated. It is Alibris-rated. Which is a joke because Alibris gets a percentage of the sellers' sales.

If you DO shop there after reading this, make sure you DO NOT choose expedited shipping. Because it doesn't matter if you do or not, you'll just get what you bought shipped to you from media mail.

Also, if a seller lists his location, do not expect the product to be shipped from there. The location might say Springfield, and if you live in Springfield, you might expect the product to arrive the next day regardless of the shipping method. But don't trust that. The book might be shipped from Canada, India, Mexico, or where ever the seller is from.

One last point. If you still want to shop there, do not expect to get the book in the edition that is described. If the description states: "Hardcover 15th Edition 2007, 653 pages" you might get "Softcover, 2nd Edition 1978, 215 pages" but for alibris, "basically almost exactly the same thing, both worth the same about the $100 you paid."

"I used Alibris to purchase a book from one of its resellers, A1books. I did not receive the book and when the reseller would not respond to my inquiries, I contacted Alibris. So far, Alibris customer service will only acknowledge receipt of my inquiry message (form letter) and has yet to actually acknowledge that the problem. I am disputing the charge to my credit card. "

"I ordered two sets of books from Alibris, each set being three books. I have received only one incomplete set containing only two books. I paid extra for "expedited" shipping, and it has now been more then two weeks since their estimated arrival date. These books were ordered for school, and the missing book is the one I need the most. There is no customer service number that allows you to talk to a person, only an automated service that is very general and does not help, or you have the opportunity to e-mail the company and get another automated response. The company wants you to wait until 30 days from the ship date before they take ANY action, which in completely unacceptable being that many of their customers like myself are ordering these books for schooling, where the books are required."

"I ordered a book from this store, and later realized that I had accidentally put the wrong zip code in the address. I accept full responsibility for the mistake, and the fact that it hasn't been delivered yet is completely forgiven.

What is not forgivable is the fact that I have written their customer service two emails - the first two weeks ago - and have not recieved any hint of a response. Their customer service seems to be nonexistent, and you would do well to steer clear of them.

"I purchased on Dec 8th, received email on Dec 9th saying I should receive package by Dec. 21st. I paid for expedited shipping because this was a Christmas gift. It is now Dec. 27th and no package. They give no way to contact a live person, and my emails to them have gone unanswered (except for one computer generated email saying to wait for 30 days before contacting them). If your package is at all time-sensitive, I would think twice before purchasing from them. "

"Purchased a book for my nephew's birthday on 9/15. After a week, I checked the status and it says that it was shipped on 9/20. It's now 10/7 and I've yet to see my item. It missed his birthdate and now I keep having to explain to him that the store chose to ship it by foot and that it takes a month or two to get here.

I'll never shop with this joke of a store again.

*EDIT* - It's now February 27, 2006 and still haven't received my item. Not that I'm expecting it to come from this company that steals money. But they have been reported by their state's attorney general. Tsk tsk, you can't take customer's money without delivering the product Alibris...

"Purchased a book from them through one of their sellers. Ordered it on Sept 5. According to them it was shipped on Sept 8. According to the seller it was shipped on Sept 10. Finally arrived on Sept 19. The shipping location was a 4 hour drive from me. I chose expedited delivery too. There is no tracking information. Alibris response to a request for location of my book was, they do not have tracking numbers (who doesn't use them these days) and contact them if I do not recieve the item within 30 THIRTY days. I should have checked here first!"
