"I have cancelled my order for a Dimage Z2 for the following reasons: (1) I had to call back to valiadte the order, no ansver after 3 messages (2) The camera did not come with US waranty (3) the call-back (instead of just shipping it) is used as a cheap sales pitch to sell higher priced add-ons."

"those guys are crooks. Even after reading all those reviews, I still called them (sucker for low prices).

Called for Canon 300D ($629 too good to be true - but I was ready), which they said was in stock, but 'international' (no US warrantee) and no bateries/charger (they wanted $149 at the end for that - which I declined). Then after they took my name and credit card, the very rude salesmen told me it would take 6-10 YEARS to get it... Ok, I should have know... cancel - thanks for waisting my time.

Now I'm worried they have my card info.

"The "unbeatable price" is just a huge scam. When I called to confirm my order (Sony PC109 video camera) I was told by the person on the phone that the camera only came with a 15 minute battery and they were offering another battery for more than 150 dollars. I had already read the manual for this camera and I knew the battery with the product was at least 90 minutes continuous recording time. I said I did not want extra batteries. I asked him what was the part number for the battery and the one he told me was exactly the one on Sony manual that showed that it was not only 15 min. I started getting suspicious. What if they would charge me for a battery that in fact came with the product? I said no more than 5 times. He finally asked me to hold on and when he came back to the phone he asked me if I wanted to buy the warranty. I said no and he then shot: " your 3 day delivery will take 5 to 7 weeks to be shipped". I asked him why and he said it was because of "international warranty". At this point I got what it was all about. I told him to cancel the order.

I read again the "order confirmation" that I had printed and it says

" All orders are subject to final approval by our customer service department" - what?? only my credit card has to be approved.

"We may contact you regard adjustmento to your order, including but not limited to tax and shipping which you will be informed of prior. The charges at this point may not be final. You will receive your final statement (receipt) with the arrival package."

Are you still interested in building at AMPHOTOWORLD? Not me! I am going to J&R or visit Bestbuy, etc and pay a higher price but be sure of what I am getting and who I am dealing with. One last thing: the battery that he was offerering me as extra and with a huge 30% discount at a price of more than 150 dollars is in fact listed on the official Sony web site for US$ 59.99 (and this one lasts more than 2 hours).

"Like the rest, another horrible experience with a bunch of shysters. This appears to be an illegal "bait and switch" scheme. The Nikon 5700 was advertised at a great price so I ordered it online. The confirming email did not say when the camera would arrive but that I should call them to "expedite processing" of the order. When I called, the salesman continued pressuring me to purchase accessories even though I had already made it clear that I didn't want them. Finally, he said the order would arrive in 2-3 weeks and abruptly hung up. The next day I got an email saying the camera was on backorder with no mention of when it might arrive. I called on May 2 to ask when it would come in and was told they didn't really know but that it should arrive BY CHRISTMAS!! But, they explained, if I purchased a "domestic" model for $150 more rather than the "import" model they said I had ordered (?), they could ship it right away. (Aren't all Nikon cameras imported??) I insisted on talking with the manager, but he clearly didn't care and tried again to sell me the "domestic" model. I canceled my order and am filing a complaint with the NY attorney general's office. The form is at http://www.oag.state.ny.us/complaints/html/comp_consumer.html."

"I received an email to confirm my order for Camedia 770 digital camera. I was put on hold for 10 mins. the salesmen were very rude and they switched me 4 times before i got to the right person. he was extrememly rude and wanted to sell me accessories, which i declined. "I ordered an HP 945 digital camera on line-the information given was, if you would like your merchandise expedited, please give us a call. So I called, I ended up buying batteries I may never use, and the person asked if I wanted a small camera bag- I said yes, as I would like to carry this in my purse. I ended up $100 over what I expected, however I asked for my delivery in 3 days, and paid for 3 day shipping, they expressed it in 2 days and did not charge me for the shipping upgrade! I received my merchandise as promised and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"THe canon 10D has a street price of $1400-$1500. Amphotoworld has the amazing price of $829. Sounds too good to be true. I email and ask them what does this come with battery and charger. Instead of answering a simple question, they email me back say
"In order to give you the best answer for this specific question, please contact our product
information staff at ***-***-****."
I read other reviews about this store trying the stupid switch and bait. I didn't even bother to call them.

If anyone got scammed by this store, go to http://www.ftc.gov/ and file your complaint.

"Same story as everyone else. Called to confirm order as per e-mail instructions. Was prepared for the hard sell on products I didn't want. Told Chad no thanks and then he became rude. Said I needed to purchase the warranty because the camera I had ordered was "Grey Market" and Panasonic wouldn't honor the warranty. I told him that the website didn't say that and he said I must be an idiot for not noticing this. WTF! I cancelled my order and will file a complaint with the attorney general on NY.

"This company is a joke. They don't have any manners and they are very rude if you don't buy their batteries , warranties or other accessories. I was ordering a camcorder Sony (DCR-HC40) and when I changed my mind about buying all the other stuff that they do recommend (everything else was cheaper at circuit city) they told that my order needs 4-6 weeks to arrive from Japan. They told that the battery that is coming with the camcorder last only 15 min and I have to buy other batteries that were more expensive than circuit city. The customer service representative Paul ext 773 was rude and made insulting remarks. When I went in the Internet to find out about this company prestige I found this site and I realized that I am not the only one with bad experiences. I tried more than once to speak with a manager I sent emails to their contact emails but no response and other representatives are the same. I talked with 4-5 sales persons and they were all the same rude and uncivilized. Avoid them. Be smart."

"I ordered a Pentax *ist d for a GREAT price - $100's less than anyone else is selling it for. I received the standard email telling me to call - so I did - but I was prepared! I told him my dad was buying me the warranty as a graduation gift so I didn't need to buy it. They tried to get me to buy it anyway, but I wouldn't call it high pressure. The man who helped me at x707 was very nice, actually. He told me the camera would ship in 3-5 days. Then I got an email today saying it is on backorder. I called and spoke with the same man who never put me on hold. He said only the kit is in stock. I told him I'd need to cancel my order as I'm graduating and moving and wouldn't be at that address by the time it comes in. THey cancelled it without argument and they sent me a confirmation email. I'd rather have gotten them to send out my camera (which I knew came without any accessories or batteries or anything like that - but you can get all that at other sites much cheaper!), but my experience wasn't as bad as that which others have expressed. But I doubt I'd have ever gotten the camera without ordering the $400 accessory package!"

"Same modus operandi... placed order, got "confirmation" email saying that I needed to call to confirm the order. Upon calling I found that the 800 # was constantly busy.

I found the web site again and it had a different 800 number. Calling that, I got switched around and finally placed on hold. After about 20 minutes it was obvious that I wasn't going to get serviced so I hung up and emailed them instead, saying that the 800 number was not usable and asking what they needed to know to confirm the order. The response immediately raised my eyebrows because they ignored my question and said again that I needed to call the 800 number.

At this point, I responded via email that they should call *me*, and if they did not call then they should chalk it up to a lost sale for lack of communicating with the customer. They sent an email saying that I should call the 800 number on Monday the 19th.

I decided to call the 800 number one more time, after business hours. I left a message, telling them again that it was obvious that they had insufficient customer service and that if they wanted me to confirm something they needed to call me; consider the order cancelled if they do not.

No call. I've sent emails telling them in no uncertain terms to cancel the order, which they have stated through email has not been processed.

Time and my card will tell if they are criminal enough to place charges to my account after failing to provide the advertised product and having claimed in the email to have incurred no processing.

For others who have been burned, I've lodged a complaint with the NYC Dept of Consumer Affairs. You can lodge a complaint at http://www.ci.nyc.ny.us/html/dca/html/complaintforms.html, My complaint ID is transaction number dca.***-***-**** .
