"After doing my so-called due dillengce I still flirted with disaster by attempting to do biz with amphotoworld.com. Buyer beware when the price is too good to be true. I placed order online, next day received e-mail stating I need to contact them by phone to verify order. No problem I think, until salesperson, what a misnomer, tried to offer me a battery for the camera. I said I'll just stick with the included factory battery for now. He said you dont understand, camera doesn't come with a battery .That's when the "Red Flag" went up. I said sure it does, this Panasonic model comes with an assortment of accessories already pre packaged from the factory, like software, battery pak, charger, USB cable, etc, etc. I was then informed that they take the camera out and sell the included accessories for extra. I was livid to say the least. I told him to cancel my f**king order and send me an e-mail stating such. He wanted to know why I was upset and used a curse word, frigging moron. I also notified my credit card company of above senario within minutes just in case they try to say that item had already been shipped. Thankfully this transpired on a Sunday and there isn't any shipping. In closing, no matter what you view on any site, call and get verbal confirmation w/salesperson's name, of all items that are to be included with your purchase. BUYER BEWARE!"
"After ordering a Fuji Finepix S7000, I got an e-maill asking me to call them to verify the order. I called and was asked to buy 1 or 3 years warranty. Sales rep said the product didn't have any warranty and buyers had to buy at least 1 year warranty for $99. So I canceled the order."
"Even though the saleperson did try to say that the product I saw on the website was a Eurpeon model and wanted to charge me extra for the U.S. version, the product ended up still costing less than other sites I had seen (other than the 4 VERY similar sites managed by moruda.com). The product did arrive on-time and has worked well. The serial number had been cut off the box though, but is still on the product.
Overall, I think the experience was more traumatic than it had to be, but the price was good."
"This place and all the other names this company goes by is nothing but a con-game.
I attempted to purchase from this company which goes by more than 35 different names. This is a NY mill designed to separate money from people. Under no circumstances will they sell you a popular item at the price they advertise on their web-site without requiring that you also purchase unwanted add-ons or un-needed warrantees.
They go by more than 35 different company names and even own their rating system called ShopCartUSA. They post their own reviews for make-believe purchases to many of their company web-sites. They no longer allow any negative reviews to be posted, only their shill positive reviews, that's why there are no dates on the reviews.
They go by other names such as Royal Camera, A&M, Digital Liquidators and Broadway Photo. For a complete list of their shell companies check-out ShopCartUSA.
This place is a scam and should be avoided at all cost. I challenge anyone to purchase a popular product at the low price shops listed, and actually have it arrive at your doorstep for the price advertised without upgrading.
I hope resellerratings posts this review because consumers need to be made aware of these types of disreputable people and businesses."
"THE WORST VENDOR ON THE NET!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! They never ship product and try to sell you more when you call to "verify" your order. Terrible. "
"A&M Photo World called me this morning to verify my purchase order. Thinking I would receive my product like the manufacture intended I came to find out that the they remove accesories to lower their price and then try to sell them to you at an additional expense. They were rude and pushy. Sounds like prison personel are handling there customer service!!!"
"after ordering an optura xi $800, and calling to verify. he asks me if i had any questions, because most people don't realize it's only the camera, no battery or charger included, he tells me the combo of the two would cost around $280 for both of these things, so of course i didn't want to just say sure, throw those in, i tell him i'll call him back. after finding that canon's largest battery and best charger for this camera is only around $225 i call him back asking what the product numbers for the items were, and he couldn't tell me, but assured me it was canon branded. the charger the site sells is labeled as "Rapid external charger for Canon lithium batteries" and looks nothing like anything canon sells (for the Xi at least)
i made about 5 calls to this guy telling him i want to cancel because i found other deals, that i didn't have enough money, that i'm not the cardholder, so i shouldn't even be able to verify the purchase, nothing would convince this guy to cancel the order. "the warehouse has the order, its been processed. you can return it, for a refund minus the shipping costs"
this was all within an hour of the verification..
the last call was me telling him about this website and how there is 10 pages of nothing but negativity, he tells me "ok, thanks for calling" and before he hung up i squeezed in "i'll be calling the better business bureau about this" and that made him pause and he gave in and admitted defeat, their website now states "Your order has been cancelled." and i got an email telling me the same. it's possible to cancel after verifying, don't let them tell you it's not."
"DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY! THEIR SALESFORCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCK! I ordered a digital camera as a gift from this e-store online. After placing my order online and supplying my contact information, a salesrep by the name of "Alex" called me trying to upsell me (highpressure) everything under the sun to go along with this camera. I informed him that it was a gift and that I would leave the extras up to the recipient if they chose to buy them at a later date. I DID however, re-confirm with Alex that my UPS ground shipment was 5-7 days of which he confirmed to me. I said thank you and hung up. Alex calls me back in 5 minutes and informs me that unfortunately UPS ground will take approximately 3-4 weeks (because I purchase the "international" model as opposed to the US version, which is a load of BS because there was only one(1)option provided to me online. Funny how he never mentioned that to me the first time he called to upsell me) and asks me if I would like to upgrade shipping...See a pattern here? At this point, I was completely OVER his unprofessional sales tactics and asked to speak to the supervisor. Of which Alex responds "We don't have supervisors, we're all just sales reps". So I asked to speak to ANYONE who is in management, and he responds there is no management, puts me on hold and disconnects me. I then look up the website again and call customer service only to have them not allow me to speak to the sales manager and back up what Alex had told me. So much for Customer Service and "The customer is always right". I told them to cancel my order and informed them I would gladly pay $100 more for the camera to deal with a reputable company who stand behind there product/service committments.
I quickly found numerous e-stores (google) willing to sell the camera for $10-$30 more who I am sure remember that customer satisfaction is the key to continuing a strong business. "
"After reading several other reviews on A&M PhotoWorld, this one will not be shocking. After placing an order for a Sony Cybershot DSC-P92 5.0 Mega Pixel Digital Camera, for the listed price of $249.00, I was contacted via email with instructions to contact A&M PhotoWorld to confirm/verify my order. I called their 1-800 number and was immediately connected to Jeff. I was asked if I really wanted to purchase the camera. Jeff continued to ask me if I was absolutely sure. After telling him I was sure, he stated that the camera I wanted only had 15 minute batteries and a small capacity memory card. I told him that I already had the exact same camera and that I knew for a fact that it came complete with long life batteries, a charger and an adequate memory card. He stated that if I wanted all those things, I would have to buy the U.S. version, which was available and in stock for $289, plus $20 shipping. I reluctanly agreed and he confirmed the order. This took place on Sunday (2/29/04) and I received an email order confirmation on that same day, stating that my order had been processed and sent to the warehouse for packaging and shipping. On Monday, (3/1/04) after feeling very skeptical and uneasy about their selling tactics, I called back and canceled my order. At first, Jeff stated that because the order had already been processed (scanned), he could not cancel it. He then asked me why I was canceling the order and I told him that I was going to give the camera as a gift, but the person I was giving it to had just received it from someone else as a gift (make sense?). Jeff then put me on hold for a few minutes, then came back and told me that he attempted to cancel the order, but was unsure if he was successful. He stated that he could not promise that the order was cancelled, but assured me that if the camera was in fact shipped, I could just refuse it and it would be sent back. Obviously, I had a hard time believing this, and he could not provide me with a 'cancelation confirmation' of any kind. I have not yet been charged for the camera on my credit card, and I'm interested to see how this turns out. I called my credit card company and informed them of the situation and that I wished to contest the charge if it posted to my account. I also made them aware of the poor sales practices of A&M PhotoWorld. My credit card company noted my comments and my request to block any charges from them.
All in all, even though my experience with them is not complete, I would strongly advise anyone/everyone to steer clear of this company. While I was not yelled at and/or treated extremely poorly by their sales reps., as many have been, I was far from impressed. They were pushy, impatient, rude and immature. And those are the best terms I can use to describe A&M PhotoWorld.
Avoid this scam.

"I had a negative experience with a mail order I placed with A & M Photo World on December 2, 2003. I called their 800# (800/709-4491) and spoke with a "Drew" on ext.704. After placing my order with some difficulty (telephone disconnections) for a Nikon N-80 camera package w/ Nikor lenses totaling $1,029.94, I was given a confirmation number, and a verbal promise of 5 - 6 weeks delivery. This occurred after I was told the advertised product's prices and availability were for grey market items, which were not revealed in the photo magazine advertisement. I was told the grey market price items were not in stock, and would have to be ordered overseas taking approximately 5 - 6 weeks. After indicating I was okay with grey market items if manufactured by Nikon, the attendant put me on hold, and I was shortly disconnected. I called back and spoke with "Drew" who took my order and Visa card number. He also offered free shipping for my disconnection inconvenience while on hold, provided his telephone extension, and an order confirmation number.
After the 5 - 6 week delivery promise was exceeded, I tried to reach "Drew" at his extension number. My call was always forwarded to another extension, "Erick", where I left messages to call back. These calls after numerous attempts over a three week period were never returned.
Finally, I called "Drew's" extension again and was put on hold by someone other than "Drew". After holding for a long period of time (20 minutes) I was connected, and once explaining I was calling to check on the status of my order, I was immediately transferred to someone else, where I was on hold again for approximately 10 minutes. A person finally came on, who didn't identify himself, and abruptly responded my items were not in stock, and suggested "off the record" if I waited this long I should purchase these items locally. I explained the reason I chose A & M Photo World was their discount pricing, and I had been patient with their service. This individual kept asking me, as if baiting me, did I want to cancel my order. After seeing I would get no promise as to when my order would be fulfilled, I decided this was not the company I wanted to do business.
I cancelled my order, but vowed to let those that are influential know of this experience. I wrote to the editors of Popular Photography, Petersen's Photographic, Outdoor Photographer, and Shutterbug. All magazines which ran identical A & M Photo World ads which did not distinguish between grey market and US prices.
I believe A & M Photo World utilized misleading price advertisement, and tried to "bait and switch" me, in suggesting I pay more for similar non-grey market products with faster deliveries and better warrantees. After declining this option, they did not fulfill their backorder delivery promise (I don't believe they ever intended to), were difficult to reach, and provided an unsatisfying experience.
Beware of this company's practices and service. They SUCK! "
"Purchased an in-stock camera. They requested a callback to "verify" the order. This ended up being a sales pitch tactic to upsell overpriced accessories (the BAIT & STUFF move). I refused, and all of the sudden my camera was back-ordered. 4 weeks have passed - no response to email or voicemail. It's like they disappeared off the face of the earth!! I tried looking up the company in the Brooklyn yellow pages - not found. Reverse look up of their address (from their website) brings up some other business !!! A reverse search of their 800 number shows nothing. They aren't even registered with their local BBB!"
"AFter a number of phone calls and visits to the website, I placed an order for the Canon XI camera. My husband was told that the camera had a standard US warranty. In response to my placing the order, I received an e-mail saying I needed to call them to process the order.
I called them and the customer service person attempted to sell batteries, filters (which he told me were necessary to get clear pictures), cable & software, and an extended warranty. After turning him down on all the accessories, I received another e-mail that said the camera is on back-order.
My husband called again to ask if it was in stock and they said it was on back-order from Canon and would be 4-6 weeks. I sent an e-mail telling them to cancel the order and didn't hear anything. I called them to cancel the order and the customer service rep forwarded me to someone else's voice mail. I left a message but still didn't hear anything back. My husband called yet again and after threatening to contact the Better Business Bureau, got a supervisor that told him that it was an international version listed on the website (they said that it wasn't yesterday) and that we could get the US one today for ~$1100. When he mentioned that digitalliquidators had the same thing for a little over $100more than the original price and they were the same company, the supervisor told him that it too was an international version.
I have now received an e-mail confirming my order has been cancelled but will be watching my card for a charge. I don't trust them.
I will never buy from them or digitalliquidators.com and will tell everyone I can find that they should not."
"This was a horrible experience. I was attempting to buy a Dimage Z1 digital camera. I came across this reseller from Froogle, a purchasing search service from Google. I very much like Google, and the way that they do business, so I thought 'Why not?' This was the wrong decision. They are definitely running a BAIT-AND-SWITCH operation. The customer service representatives are VERY rude. And I live in Philly. I know some pretty rude characters. The operator (named Eric, at extention 766 just to let you know) was very shady, not identifying himself when he answered the phone. He always gave me the impression that I was wasting his time. When I tried to cancel the order of some $80 accessories that usually come standard, he told me that that was not possible, unless I wanted to order the model from "Japan". This was a complete lie. He trampled over my words, used a condescending tone, and tried to tell me that he was actually saving me the $20 insurance fee that I would incur if I tried to order the "Japanese" version. Overall, though, I should be getting what I need in a timely manner, and for less money than in a retail store, but not by much-about $50. Not worth the hassle. Avoid this company, and if you just found this site after you ordered from them as I did, either try to cancel your order now, as this was not hard to do at first, or just hang on for the ride. It's bumpy, but you will come out of it alive."
"Became skeptical after calling to confirm order with salesperson Keith. He convinced me that the brand new Cannon A80 I purchased, did NOT have a manufacturers warranty, and gave an option of a three year or five year extended warranty. Felt uneasy with decision as Keith was extremely high pressure. Researched company and complaints and foud I'm not alone. Item will go back upon receipt, who knows what else I will be lied to about by this group. Lesson learned, "you can live by price and die by price""
"This company was pushy from the very beginning. All I wanted was an HP Photosmart 735 digital camera and the guy I talked to (Paul) was extremely pushy that I buy a $65 battery charger pack. He added it to my order and said that if I wanted to cancel before it was shipped...just call back by Sunday. I did; I was told that the batter charger would be taken off my order but it wasnt and I was charged for it!! Also, they told me that it would only be $19.99 for shipping. They DID NOT tell me that there was an add. $19.99 handeling charge! Good grief! Also when I wanted to return they flat out wouldnt let me. Every person I talked to including (Josh Wein who said he was the head manager) did not treat me nice at all!! The whole experience was terrible and do not recommend anyone buying from them. New Yorkers are sooo pushy! I rate them an F-"
