Ordered a Canon 7d at a price that was well below compteting sites. Received an email to call them to confirm the order. Did so, and the sales rep informed me that I had to add a 6% shipping insurance charge to my order. I responded that their site mentioned nothing of additional insurance fees, and was assured that it was there. I looked for an additional 10 minutes and could find no mention.
I ended up cancelling my order, even though they still have the lowest price, I can't bring myself to complete the order."

"I was looking around for a good price on a Canon 7D and found it with Fumfie. I was skeptical, but ordered anyway. I expected the typical high pressure "buy this buy that", and they did suggest a spare battery and more compact flash cards. I said, I don't need them and they said fine. They offered a good price on an extended warranty and I said yes. The camera and warranty came very prompty. It was the wrong warranty -- one for a less expensive camera. It took one phone call and they sent the right one with a prepaid mailer to return the incorrect one. Good price, great service, quick correction of an honest error."

"These guys are not outright scammers, but they do engage in dishonest business practices. First, they are selling gray-market products (non-USA warranty) without disclosing that on their website. They advertise that all products are brand new with USA warranties, but the warranty turns out to be their own store warranty, and it's not even written or documented anywhere - simply a guy on the phone telling you if your product breaks in a year, they'll fix it. Yeah, right.

To compound that, they engage in upselling in which the upsell is described as paying for the USA warranty, but then the upsell charge is added to your invoice as "Insurance," and when you complain that you paid extra for a USA warranty and received a gray-market model anyway, they tell you no, you paid for shipping insurance which they require. UPS charges $2 per $100 for insurance; even though they shipped the item via UPS, the customer service guy said they don't insure with UPS, but with another third party, and the rate they charged me was more like $5 per hundred.

Bottom line, I ended up with a gray-market model for an all-in price I could have actually beaten (at newegg.com) for an authorized dealer model with a manufacturer USA warranty.

Lesson learned, stick with known reputable dealers when ordering online. I was fooled by the majority favorable ratings for fumfie.com, but the tactics they used which I have documented above absolutely happened. Dishonest upselling, exorbitant charges for insurance, deceptive advertising with respect to warranty.

The product - Nikon D300s body only, advertised by fumfie.com at $1389 plus $14.95 shipping. They upcharged me $71.05 to total $1,475 for a gray-market model.

Newegg.com advertises the same product with manufacturer USA warranty for $1,449.00 delivered."
