"I was worried about this press not being comparable with the Tandy Leather rivets I already had. Goldstar's youtube channel demonstrating that their grommets were cross compatible with TL so that gave me hope. Enough that I considered it over Tandy's press which at the time was close to 400 dollars. Also their rivet dies cost $60 dollars per die when Goldstars was like? Half that? Not even.
I couldn't remember my sizing so I bought a cheap gauge off of Amazon. It said my rivets were 9mm. But to doubly be sure, I went to TL and checked their packaging. 8 mm. Huh?? Well Tandy would have be right because they are ridiculously expensive, right? Nope. I ordered the Goldstar rivet with a 8mm die. And low and behold, I needed to reorder 9 mm die.
TL:DR GoldStar is far more cost effective and more accurate than the local expensive @$$ Tandy Leather store in my area. Now I know where to buy my rivets in the future. At least then I know the sizing will be correct. "

"I have a 50% success rate with Goldstar. What I bought has mostly been great when it was what I ordered. Their email for customer service is a long dark hole of no replies. I decided to be happy with what I got, instead of what I needed, and that client that needed those buttons - well, I guess I can afford to blow off customers with the help of GoldStar. I don't blame them for selling me a faulty bobbin case a couple years ago, because I'm pretty sure their supplier did them wrong as well. Goldstar is a middleman at the mercy of the fates as are we all. It's a sad time in this industry. I don't expect any of us to remain in business much longer."
