"Placed an order on 11/6. My credit card was charged 11/7. I waited two weeks and my order was never shipped. I emailed them asking why my credit card was charged if they had not shipped my order. They responded by cancelling my order and crediting my card. I don't trust any company that will charge your CC prior to shipping... this is a perfect example why."
"Update:03/2006 These guys are out-of-business.
Some folks will say that this change of events makes them happy, but myself, I did okay with these guys.
I think they were originally called CSO, computer-surplus-outlet, several years ago. Based out of las vegas.
A family member actually visited their store in vegas. Got me some great deals on Simms for my old HP4 laserjet.
I never bought any high priced items; nor anything I needed in a hurry. So being late or only doing a partial-shipment, was never a big concern for me.
I got some great "2 for 1" deals and also
FREE SOFTWARE with any order of $25 or more.
I'm a home user and I bought some pc parts and software from isellsurplus.
Actually, I had 3 orders in oct.
The 1st one came thru within a week to 10 days.
The 2nd and 3rd took a bit more followup.
I had to send an email, or 2, and then the shipping/tracking numberwas finally provided.
Received the last 2 orders this past week.
The service was a bit slow, but all 3 orders in oct were 2-for-1 orders AND had FREE software. "
"Like many others, I made the mistake of not checking a review site before ordering from them.
I ordered a few things on Oct 19. I was charged the next day, yet I am still waiting for the order status to change to "shipped."
I have not yet contacted them, because it's not a lot of money, the items are not critical, and I enjoy watching people hang themselves through their own incompetence.
But if you are ordering a lot, or need something fast, I'd say pay a bit more at a more reputable place. I'd suggest using pricewatch.com, I've had a lot of good experiences with the companies who are represented there.
Update: November 9th, the package showed up."
"I won an auction on eBay for an item from this company. I paid for the item the same day the auction ended. Two days later, I emailed them about when the item would ship. They emailed back saying:
"Due to an inventory database problem on our website Cisco Aironet PCM352 was incorrectly listed. The card is actually an Intel Pro/Wireless 5000 LAN Cardbus Adapter, which is a 5GHz card that we sell on our site for $79.00. We can offer this card at the same price you paid. If this is not acceptable we will issue a refund immediately. Please advise. Thank you and we apologize for the mistake."
I did not want the other card so I asked them to refund my money, and they did.
Bottom line: Beware of this company! One of three things happened:
1. They lied and actually had the item, but weren't pleased with the amount that the auction went for.
2. They never had the item to start out with and planned all along to bait-and-switch for the cheaper Intel card.
3. They were telling the truth and had a legitimate "inventory database problem".
You make the call."
"Four days after placing my first order it still hadn't shipped. They can't change an order so I had to cancel to add additional items. The website said everything was in stock, but it wasn't. Two weeks later I received my order. I ordered five items; One item was missing and one was a knock off brand instead of the Intel part I ordered. My emails to customer support were answered at first by "Joann" (actual employee) then they went unanswered. I had to hunt down their phone # and was able to straighten the mess out. The people I spoke to were quite nice. They made good on the items but it took about 3 weeks from the original purchase date and a lot of aggravation. I have since ordered from several other computer discount type online stores and it's usually 3 days max from the time I order until it arrives. I Sell Surplus...it would have to be a killer deal to get me to order again."
"Company either attempts to commit fraud. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
I ordered a few items - a fan grill, a couple of headsets, Nero and WinDVD - on 8/4. After about three weeks not receiving even as much as a confirmation e-mail, I tried to contact them. They d not answer their phones. They do not answer e-mail. The only way to contact them is through their live sales help (when one is lucky enough to catch them). Finally reaching them, they said that the fan grill was on backorder (even though the site said that they were in stock at the thime of ordering), and the order would ship that day via 3-day shipping.
Receiving the order a week later via ground, I opened it up to find that the WinDVD software was not included. There was no explanation in the box, not even a shipping recipt. I contacted them again, and asked where the WinDVD software was. They responded that it was on backorder and would be in within a couple of weeks. Three weeks later, I contacted them again, and they said it was still on backorder, and would be in in a couple of weeks. About a month later, I contacted them one more, and they said "It is being shipped right now."
About a week later, I finally received the software, well over two months after ordering. During all of this time, I was unable to play any DVD's on my computer. Had ISellSurplus made any effort to contact regarding the status of my order other than saying "approved" on the website, it would not have been so frustrating. Also, they conveiniently shipped all of my items on the same days that I contacted them.
This company actively tries to commit fraud; I had to contact them each time for my items to ship. They make no effort to contact the customer. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM"
"Good buy. Good shipment. Great store. I was skeptical to buy because of ISellSurplus' current rating, but I was scammed by them. I got the case in perfect condition and a perfect amount of money spent."
"Terrible after-sale service. They shipped the wrong model item (cheaper one). I got an RMA and shipped the item back and waited. It took several weeks and a complaint through state Attorney General Consumer Protection office to get them to respond. They finally shipped a replacement, the same wrong model again! It took another two months and Attorney General follow-up contact to get a second RMA. Then it took another two months and Attorney General contact again to get a refund, minus the shipping I had to pay twice to ship the wrong items back ($10.89 each time). Now I'm waiting to see if the check clears the bank!
They are terrible about responding to emails, faxes, and phone calls. They promise service and support, but do not follow through. Do NOT trust them!"
"After all the negative reviews I was leery of placing an order but they offered a great price on MediaCenter 2005 OEM so I pulled the trigger on the 19th. After three days without an order update I emailed to inquire about my order. An email reply was received within a few hours and a shipping confirmation arrived shortly there after. After another week of waiting I emailed again to ask about my order and a reply was received quickly. A few days later my order came in.
I am pleased with the price of the product and the prompt replies to my inquiries. I think that I will probably give them a second shot in the future.
My thanks to Joann for her friendly replies via email."
"I ordered a WinXP Pro COA and received a Win2K COA. I RMA'd it and they received it on 9/6/05.
I emailed them on 9/14/05 and 9/20/05 and haven't heard from them yet. I will never buy from them again!
Ken"
"Now over 3 weeks since I placed my order. Very quick to charge my credit card; very slow to ship my order. Still no tracking number or indication that my order shipped. This is the second time that this has happened, and probably the last."
"Despite the fact that one of my items was backordered and I had to wait over a week for the entire order to ship, my dealing with this company are entirely positive.
They deal in mostly hard-to-find and surplus stuff. I bought a "Lin-Lin" adapter, remember those? Basically a FCPGA --> PPGA adapter, and they had it for a fraction of other sites."
"I placed an order for 1 OEM cd of Nero with Priority Mail shipping. 9 days later they reply that the order has finally shipped, and was sent First Class mail. 6 more days go by and I check the tracking number with the post office, and it shows the order has never shipped, only shipping info was sent to the post office, not the actual package. This company has not replied to my emails. They have committed fraud.
Do NOT do business with isellsurplus.com"
"Have placed two orders this year, both included items ( mp3 player and memory)which arrived DOA ( defective on arrival). Had to return items at my own expense and then they languished in "testing" for a week or more before shipping a replacement. Items are shown in stock, but often takes up to a week before they even ship. One order had shown as shipped, but never did. They rarely answer emails and "live support" is barely breathing. You have to get them to give you a supervisor's phone number to get any results."
"After 2 previous small orders that were filled w/o incident, I placed an order that included a used computer, and proceeded to wait, and wait and wait, even thought the order was listed as "Approved" when I logged-in to my account. When I e-mailed a rep, I was told tha the order was not yet shipped because the computer was out of stock and they were sorry. I was then told that they were expecting a re-stock on the item "soon" and the order would be shipped then. At this point, my credit card had already been charged, and my patience had evaporated, so I e-mailed back, pointing out the virutal impossibility of "re-stocking" a unique item like a used computer, and told them to cancel the order and refund the charge. I got a reply saying that they would cancel my order and refund the charge as requested, but they never did! After numerous un-answered e-mails, I gave up and disputed the charge with my credit card, and they recently decided in my favor. If I log-on to my account on the site, this order is still listed as "Approved"! Never again."
