"It took me more than 4 hours to install by myself, but I changed the order of installation just a bit to make it easy for one person. The instructions direct you to build it from the front backwards, but it makes more sense to install the four corners first, then fill in between. The front mounts were the most complicated. The instructions weren’t as bad as some people complained about, but taking the time to understand my Jeep helped immensely. Removing the plastic cowl in front of the windshield was not explained well. The fasteners on the side facing the windshield required prying the cowl straight up and away from the Jeep. There was a missing figure illustration and a reference to a color in an illustration, but the instructions were in black and white, not color. There are two rubber spacers that are designed to make contact with the rear corners of the Jeep. I drilled holes to move them up so they make contact with the plastic corner rather than the metal corner area lower. All in all, it went pretty well and I’m sure I could do it in half the time if I did it again. The rack looks good and is very sturdy. I’m sure it will perform well with my canoe and a roof mounted tent. Don’t be afraid of installing it yourself."
