Used to be great, now a horrible sham of a company
"I used to order bulk orders from brecks for years and years. Over past 2 or so years they must have changed ownership or something. Last year I wasn't sent all plants from order and instead of normal refund for this; they gave me a "merchandise certificate" in the amount of the plants they did not send. Well, apparently you can't use this merchandise credit in conjunction with any other pricing they have on their website or other coupons. Even though, If you were buying this without the merchandise credit (money you already spent) you would be able to use both. Do yourself a favor, stay away!"

I wish I had read this before ordering.
"I placed an order mid April. They shipped them a week or two later via Fed Ex Smartpost from Ohio to California. Two full weeks in a truck crossing the country through hot states like Arizona. What I received was dirt and mush. Called and they offered credit but agreed to ship again. They only ship by truck. I am not holding out hope. Will never order from them again."

missing bulb
"I got missing bulbs in the shipment. Sent out an email, no reply. Called customer service. They do give credits, but you have to call back to use. You can not use it online. Remember, they charge for shipping when you use the credits which is due to their mistakes. I was not happy about that at all. Plus, their products are pricy. I would recommend local stores."

"Ordered in February. Shipped March 27 (allegedly). It’s April 23, no plants. Today Breck’s had the Chutzpah to ask for proof of payment. I have paid, but no plants. The BBB has been very responsive. Perhaps Breck’s should hire them to take over service"

Stable Flies in the Amaryllis
"Received a gift from a dear friend, the Carmen Amaryllis In A Red Pot, just before Christmas. The next day we started having large blackish flies in the house. Never had seen this type of fly indoors before. Every day for the next four days, we would kill from four to six flies every day. The common flies we see indoors in southeast Texas lay eggs in rotting animals but we didn't smell that distinctive odor. Finally, I took a photo using the app "Picture Insect" - it was a "Stable Fly", which lays its eggs in putrefying organic materials such as moss, mulch, etc. The exact same medium in the "Red Pot". Don't open nor keep it indoors."

I wish I could give zero stars
"The merchandise ordered on 11/22 has still not shipped. We call them and they will not cancel our order. They say it has been shipped, the an hour later we get an email confirmation saying the items have not shipped yet. What a run around. The absolute worst, do not buy from this company."

Charged card for sold out item then refuse to give money back
"I placed an order for TWO amaryllis potted gifts. When my order arrived, only ONE was in the box. I called customer service immediately because the packing slip indicated that TWO were shipped. I was told that they sold out and could only send me one. I asked if I was charged for two and was told yes. I asked why they would charge my card for something that was sold out and asked for a refund. I thought I was in the twilight zone when I was told NO. He said I could only have a store credit. I asked for a manager. He said NO. He was the the only one. I hung up and called back to get a different representative. She told me the same thing!!! I again asked for a a manager. I was told that all she could do for me is give me an additional $5 towards the store credit. So basically they used my credit card to purchase a Brecks gift certificate for me. This is how they make their money. They charge your card, knowing they are not sending you anything. Then they make you take a store credit, keep your money and hope you forget to use the store credit. Nice set up. They should be arrested. I never got the money back. I emailed twice to customer service and filed a report with the BBB. I'm also looking into a class action suit because there are SO many people that have reported the same thing."

Is Brecks Bulbs a Scam?
"Is Breck’s Bulbs a scam? Read on. You decide. I ordered 33 tulip bulbs, 4 different varieties, on 1st September 2020. The expected shipping date was 14th September. I contacted customer support on 1st October and was told they would not be shipped until 22nd October. I asked them if I was supposed to light a fire to thaw the ground. I live just west of Edmonton Alberta Canada. Latitude 53.5 On 16 October the temperature dropped below freezing, 0 deg C, and stayed there until 25 October. It went as cold as -15.7 C. I dug 4 gaping holes in my nice white gravel garden after it froze. It looks horrible. Then we got a small break in the weather. End of October and early November. Highs of 10, 12 and 17 C Nights above or slightly below freezing. There was still hope. It is now the 3rd of November and I just looked and they still have not been shipped yet. From Holland. On a cargo ship that will need to clear customs in Canada before my bulbs get mailed to me by Canada Post. I am quite tired of looking at the holes in the garden. They will soon be covered with snow. I am tired of looking at the bone meal and Miracle Grow soil in the garage. It will a miracle if my tulips grow. I am copying and pasting the following from their propaganda which I was dumb enough to believe. “Breck's times its shipments from Holland so that bulbs arrive at the proper planting time (depending on climatic conditions) for each area of Canada. We take advance reservations, and then just as soon as the crops are harvested, our staff of Dutch Bulb Experts makes an on-the-spot selection of the finest bulbs available to fill those reservations. Once your order has been packed, it will be loaded on a cargo ship bound for Canada directly from Holland. The shipment will need to clear Customs where it will then be transported to your home. We ship via Canada Post.” So. Is Breck’s Bulbs a scam? They are defiantly unethical and have misleading business practices. I have also been bombarded with sales e-mail ad’s from them. I am a one and done customer. I will submit this after I receive the bulbs and conclude with the date received. The ponds are frozen over. I would recommend to nobody. Lesson learned. Read reviews first."

This Company IS Not As Marketed
"I have ordered several items. Bogus responses to emails, can't track although the order states shipped. I contacted Customer service explaining the situation via email. I get an automated email thanking me for my order, and items have shipped. When I called about the item stating they were shipped Oct 31, I ws told they were shipped though no tracking no. Nove 1 I receive another email stating items were shipped. One item I received on the 30th of October stating the other was out of stock. I called and asked for a refund, I was told my credit card was not charged (which it was) so no refund. This company is a fraudulent company. DO NOT BUY HERE> GO TO A REPUTABLE NURSERY!!!!!!!"

"Don't waste your time. Shipping times mean nothing. Shipping anything to Edmonton for mid November makes no sense. Don't even ask why cancelling order or try to make anything right. Obviously happens a lot. Buy local."

NEVER RECEIVED ITEM ORDERED!
"I Ordered my item on 8-21-20 and was told they would ship the item no later then October 8 well its the end of the month and no shipping. Instead they decided to cancel my order and not call or email or anything to inform me that item i needed for my landscape was not coming Now i have nothing for the main part of the landscape. No i would not advice to buy through Brecks there 50/50 of if you'll get what you ordered or not"

"My order was to be delivered by 9/15 and here it is 10/13 and no delivery in sight. Brecks say at least 2 more weeks and no refunds or cancellation of orders! ridiculous!"
