"My experience with AVA Direct was generally excellent: they were very responsive, and helped me select a configuration adapted to my needs. I also found their prices to be comparable to similar configurations elsewhere. My only criticism would be the month I had to wait between placing my order and actually receiving the computer (according to them, the normal wait for custom PCs is 2-3 weeks), but the reason for the wait was to replace a faulty component (found during testing), so it was worth it! My PC works great and I would definitely recommend AVADirect."

"Very impressed! I won't go in too much detail, as I would just repeating many of the points brought up by my fellow reviewers below. Basically: -Amazingly fast email response time (I often couldn't keep up with Kevin myself)! -Very helpful and honest advice (he didn't necessarily recommend the most expensive hardware, and was always very patient and knowledgeable). -Kevin lobbied Microsoft for me, thus saving me the expense of having to pay for Windows XP twice (I had too hastily activated XP on a previous system -bought from another company- which I ended up returning -see below) -He was very flexible, and set up my new system just the way I wanted it. -Shipped quickly and securely, with all the warranties and installation CDs (everything was already pre-installed of course, but it’s always nice to have backup CDs just in case...) -And of course, last but not least: my system is working smoothly! When I finally decided to buy a new PC (it’s always pretty daunting to migrate your carefully calibrated system configuration), I first bought a cheap PC from a local company, "National Computer Warehouse" (Washington DC). I wanted to deal in person with a small outfit. NCW certainly fit the bill, and they had a nice, personable staff. But I was quite disappointed by their technical service. They were unable to solve the problems I was having, and simply charged me $60 to reinstall Windows (which didn’t help). After a refund, I found KC Computers thanks to resellerratings.com, and got the personal service + technical expertise that I’d been looking for (the fact that I can’t meet with Kevin in person hardly matters, since he replies to his email so promptly!). The fact that I had to pay more than at NCW was worth it (especially since it’s still much cheaper than a similar system from one of the bigger companies)! I would definitely recommend KC Computers! Update (2006): Three years after purchasing my PC at KC Computers, my computer was acting up (rebooting spontaneously). I contacted KC Computers for help, and was once more extremely pleased with their very quick and helpful response! Kevin immediately diagnosed the problem (dust build-up over the processor) and told me how to solve it. Once again, two thumbs way up for KC Computers!"
