Lost in the void
"I placed an order on Micro Center's web site on 4-24-2020, using a credit card. Early the next morning I got e-mail from them confirming the order and saying it would be shipped on 5-1-2020. Gee, that's pretty slow, but OK. Except 5-1-2020 comes and goes. By 5-5-2020 there has been no delivery, nor even an e-mail announcing that the item has been shipped. It turns out there is no way to track your order on Micro Center's web site. You have to call their non-toll-free number. The first time I called they played a recorded message and then hung up on me. When I called back I was kept on hold for 40 minutes before a person answered. He looked into my order and then said there was a problem with my credit card. He needed me to read him the details. Hmmm. The online-ordering web site seemed to think the card number was OK 11 days ago. And I know they have my e-mail address -- not only did they send me the initial confirmation, but then they started sending me advertisements every other day. And they have my phone number -- I had to enter it when I placed my order, and it's shown on the confirmation e-mail. Why didn't they try to contact me and say they needed help with my credit card? Apparently Micro Center was never going to reach out to me. If I had not called -- and waited on hold for 40 minutes -- this order never would have been fulfilled. The person I talked to said the item is in stock and he'd have it shipped overnight to make up for the delay. So if it does arrive soon that will be a plus. But so far it's this experience has not made me eager to shop at Micro Center again."
