"I rented a Nikon 200-400 VR from ProPhotoRental in May 2008. The lens was perfect. The level of service was great. The price was right, too, so I rented a D300 (relegating my D2H to back-up duty) and a 85 1.4. I'd recommend ProPhotoRental in a heartbeat and will rent from them again for similar events. Thanks, Jared."
"My machine works very well! I bought a C2D 6600 running at 2.4G and have it running at 3.3G steady and on air.
I had considered machines from other boutique vendors but AVAdirect provided a great combination of value and customization. Misha was very helpful during the ordering process. When he had ideas about certain components, he respectfully shared them. There was no upsell pressure at all.
Very shortly after ordering (maybe 24 hours?), I caught the first of my mistakes with my order. I'd accidently ordered the new 320M version of my videocard instead of the 640M. A quick email to Misha and I received an updated invoice for my review. This helped confirm that I'd communicated the change to Misha and that he'd gotten it into the build.
I had a similar issue regarding power supply. I'd upgraded the power supply then did some last minute reading to realize that I wanted a different one. Another quick email and shortly thereafter I received my updated invoice showing the correct change.
In between ordering and the start of the build, I was able to log in to the AVADirect site and see progress in the build (from ordered to processing to shipping). While there wasn't a lot of information during the processing stage, it was very helpful to be able to communicate with Misha during the build.
When I'd placed my order, I'd emphasized that I was heading out of town on a certain date and would be unable to take delivery for another 10 days thereafter. Using the online system, I was able to remind Misha of my travel dates and get assurances that we were on track. The machine was set to be finished burn-in on Monday. I was tempted to spring for expedited shipping, but Misha assured me that UPS would make the transit from OH to PA in one day. He was right.
I picked up the machine at the depot because I didn't want it bouncing around on my local guy's truck (I've since found out he could make a special drop-off of something like this computer once in a while which proved handy on another purchase!). There were two boxes: a heavy-duty exterior box and an interior box (the original Antec case box). Both of them were punctured as if the box had been smashed down on a sharp corner. The exterior box was taped. So I was nervous pulling the machine from the box but delighted to see no obvious problems.
The interior of the computer was filled with reasonably custom fitted styrofoam blocks. I thought it would be tricky to remove them, but all but one of them came out with no effort. The last one between the rear fan and the PSU required a little more effort. My giant CPU heatsink and vidcard survived transit installed.
The machine booted perfectly out of the box. I've overclocked to 3.3 stable and expect that I should be able to get 3.4. An excellent value!
I highly recommend AVAdirect and Misha. Check in on the hardforum doot coom forums for discussion of AVADirect and other vendors. There are a lot of us on there very happy with our systems.
Although I haven't needed it, I understand that tech support and RMA are very good."
