"I tried to buy from Dell using a gift card and they cancelled the order as suspicious but never refunded the card. Something that should have been handled automatically couldn't even be done by this "tech" company. Their customer support people were completely useless. I never got my money back."
"One year ago, I bought a piece of DDR ram from xtremegear and was very satisfied with my purchase but now with my second purchase I feel misled. They had an ad in pricewatch that said they were selling an albatron Geforce4 MX 440 agp8x with 3.6ns ram for $44.75 total. The link from pw to their website had a picture of the card and listed features and said it was a model MX480. I ordered and paid $39 + $5.75 shipping. When I got my order today, I saw that it was an inferior MX480E with 5ns ram. The card does not match the one in the picture I saw on xtremegear's site. I checked their website and they aren't selling any other albatron GF4MX models so it seems they didn't really have what I wanted in the first place. Now I feel I can't even return it. My local shipping outlet charges me around $9.50 to ship something as light as a cpu. Add that to the non-refundable $5.75 shipping and 15% restocking fee and I'll lose $21 and still have no video card. It hardly seems worth it for a $45 item. On the plus side, delivery was right on time.
UPDATE: I have in fact NOT been contacted.
UPDATE#2: They have contacted me just now and are offering a full refund and will pay me to ship it back. That's more than many other vendors would do. Hopefully this turns out well.
UPDATE#3: 12/23/03-I have not been reimbursed for my shipping costs as promised. When I call, I keep getting the runaround. So I'm out $8.94 for something that wasn't even my fault, other than trusting that their ad was correct in the first place."
