"In HINDSIGHT: Buying from your town's electronic chain store or retailer might be a wiser choice to buy new Mac systems over B&H. In retrospect: I bought a new MacBook Unibody from an authorized reseller (not B&H) on 9/24/10 and arrived with a defective Optical Drive. The Mac's OD can only be replaced by the manufacturer and not the entire unit because I bought it somewhere else and not from them or directly from their own retail store, and so I had the OD replaced because it will take me at least two weeks (or more) to finally get a replacement from the merchant considering shipping from West Coast to East and back and processing time. I sold that MacBook after a month anyways. ----- On 11/1, I bought a new MacBook Pro from B&H. I had a pleasant experience with the order and the shipping rates were cheap and the Mac came with sufficient protection. I have been a satisfied B&H customer, back from my first ever camera in 2001. Total savings is $160.00, good towards accessories and softwares. Now, here's the problem: The new MacBook Pro had an intermittently working power board (the one soldered to the body). The manufacturer had diagnosed and confirmed that it was the machine and not the power adapter. My only option, because I bought it not from them or any of their retail store chain, is to have it repaired or sent back to B&H for replacement. Because this is my 2nd sub-par new Mac system in 7 weeks since the white MacBook Unibody, I did not settle for a repair this time and had the machine sent back to B&H which they gladly setup an RMA and prepaid return label. B&H upgraded the shipping from the original 3-day to 2-day shipping for free in order for me to receive the replacement quickly. Now, where can you find one like that? ----- This is an isolated case and only fate can be blamed but I can't tell the odds of you getting a defective Mac so the lesson from this saga is that it might be wiser buying a Mac from the manufacturer or any of its retail stores or from any national electronics chains, if you live in the West Coast. Look at me, I bought two new Macs from different merchants from across the country and both are defective machines, those were my odds."

"I initially had apprehension about buying because their 13" white unibody MacBook 2.4 GHz is only $849.99 after $105.00 rebate. It was too good to be true especially that a rebate exists for this Mac. After careful research, I found them to be one of only few Apple Authorized Resellers on Apple.com with BH Photo, Best Buy, JR, Fry's and MacConnection's other site PCConnection. So I took the risk and found out it was pleasant to do business with them. The MacBook shipped fast, sealed and carefully packaged in another huge box. I called them up the day of the ETA from UPS to change my mind and return the Mac and so they were kind enough not to charge me a restocking fee as long as I return it unopened. I changed my mind and kept the system. The MacBook came with factory defect though. The Optical Drive is defective. The agent at MacConnection was very prompt in all his response. I have emailed them only about my case and answered all my questions. He gave me a Return Authorization with prepaid shipping (because the product was defective) and will ship me a new Mac once they got back the defective one. I decided I keep the Mac and go back to Apple to have the Optical Drive replaced. Regarding the rebate, the Mac has identical UPC label on the white box and the manila box it is in. Agent had me cut the UPC on the manila box retaining the white Apple box intact. I had no trouble at all from this merchant. I will perhaps come back to them when I upgrade to MacBook Pro. UPDATE: I received the $105.00 rebate, about 5 weeks after submission. Not bad, at par with all other rebates from other stores."

"Very reliable indeed. There were no phone numbers to contact them so I was very skeptic on buying from their website. The only communication is through email. The prices were so tempting and the agent agent guaranteed that they are authentic products. Found out that the email responses were actually fast, of course give or take a few minutes to assume perhaps the agent is taking a pee or lunch break. All my emails were actually replied to. Ordered the Ray-Ban RX 5169 Havana on Green. Sales agent notified me right away that the color I wanted is not available and offered me a different color for the same size and also offered me 10% off lens and frame for the hassle. I said cancel the order and they did. Received email after a few hours to tell me that they indeed have the one I wanted on stock. Although the discount is for a different color, the agent still applied that to my original order. Desperate to have my glasses for my upcoming trip, I told agent (Amy Townsend) if she could do something to speed it up and she did. Order was completed in two days and it was delivered two days after, from NYC to West Coast with tracking info. I went to my optometrist to check the authenticity of the Ray-Ban, the polycarbonate lens, and the AR coating and she confirmed that they were all genuine. The Ray Ban is original, the lens is indeed polycarbonate and the AR coating is very obvious. I had pleasant experience dealing with them so I will definitely buy from them again on my next vision insurance eligibility (they don't accept insurance so I had asked my vision insurance to reimburse me). My technique is to go to LensCrafters or Pearle Vision, try the frames, remember the model # and size, go back to Eyegoodies' website and lookup that model."

"Found this merchant through Amazon.com. Their 32" Toshiba LCD HDTV is at least $140 cheaper than Bestbuy and Circuit City, and $50 cheaper than most online merchants. After so much thought, I bought the 32" Toshiba from 6th Ave through Amazon.com as they have 97%+ positive rating on Amazon and a BBB certificate displayed on their website. I was very pleased with my order. Arrived 1 day early. Free shipping for a 41-lb TV. The unit was factory sealed and brand new. It is even boxed and cushioned to protect the TV's main packaging. Good thing I found this merchant. The TV was working good initially, but when I hooked it up with my Sony 1080p DVD upscaler the left speaker went berserk on Rocky and LOTR: The Return of the King. It was defective, the left speaker. It would randomly create short-circuit sound on scenes with intense sound. It is definitely not the bass, as the right speaker handled it well. I called customer service and I'm surprised with the good service, sent me a prepaid return shipping label for a full refund. I called again to have it exchanged for a Sony Bravia 32" and will pay the difference, and they gave me 10% off the Bravia for the exchange (fabulous!). I called again the next day to cancel the whole thing and refund the money instead as I desperately need a new TV for friends coming for the holidays and can't wait for the free ground shipping. The customer service agents handled my calls really well, except for one female agent who (unintentionally?) cut me off while talking on the phone asking for a cancellation of the Sony and switching back to full refund. The TV wasn't their fault, it was defective. I know very well because the product was sealed and the TV was sealed with all the plastic films covering it. I've heard about lapses in Toshiba quality as my friend's Toshiba DVD 1080p upscaler didn't last 90 days. I just thought it wouldn't happen to me, which unfortunately it did. Overall I am very pleased and will consider them again in the future. Perhaps they have changed management. They have BBB on their website now, so that gives me comfort. They have 97%++ rating on Amazon.com, that's a very tangible number to bank on."

"Bought a Zuiko 50mm f1.4, returned the item and had it replaced with Zuiko 50mm f1.8. My request was initiated right away, gave me a discount on the shipping and handling for the replacement lens. Made my order through phone after browsing through their online inventory. The agents who answered the phone were friendly and gave accurate description of the lens and were not afraid to say which one is inferior to the other. Online catalogue and personal touch. I will buy from them or consider them next time."
