I ordered a Nikon p50 yesterday and (as the reviews state) I received the call from 42 St. this morning from someone asking me if I would like to include a bunch of additional items. I declined and the sales person kindly agreed. Just as I thought the conversation was over he said he noticed that I had ordered the international version instead of the US version and asked if that was on purpose. I was confused. He explained that my camera wouldn't be in English (I don't know if that was just the manual or the actual camera settings) and the wifi and gps wouldn't work unless I upgraded $50 to the US version. Since this all seemed a little strange to me I asked him to just cancel my order and I would purchase it locally for the same price. He then asked me what my tax rate was and explained that I would be saving around $50 in tax by keeping my order with them. I mistakingly agreed to go through with the order.

As soon as I hung up the phone I looked online to see if I could understand how I made the mistake of not ordering the US version. I MADE THE "MISTAKE" BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY OTHER OPTION ONLINE!!! Immediately I called back to cancel my order because things just seemed shady. The representative I spoke with said that it was probably too late to reverse the transaction even though it had only been 10 minutes (5 minutes were while I was on hold). I understand that they were already processing the order but he offered no other options but to return it once I received it. He said that their shipping department had a lot of orders and couldn't take the time to search for 1 box. Then he acted like I should be thankful that they weren't charging me shipping when IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

In the end I told him that was fine but that I was disappointed with how they had mislead me both online and over the phone and I didn't think it was a good way to conduct business and I would probably write a review. The customer service rep then got very defensive and angry.

I wouldn't recommend anyone do business with this company. I thought things would be very cut and dry for me and I wouldn't be talked into any upgrades or accessories but the lack of honesty surprised me. BUYER BEWARE!"

"Purchased a Canon G15 for a very good price. Camera arrived promptly and was packed well, with all accessories it was supposed to have.

Before shipping the seller called to make sure I hadn't forgotten to buy a memory card, which was good. They said I needed a very fast card to shoot video, but I elected to use a card that I already had and the camera shipped that day."
