"I had an interesting experience with 42nd street photo. While the camera I bought was an amazing price, I am not entirely sure I would do business with them again. First, their shipping process was pretty slow; I ordered on a Friday morning and my camera didn't ship until the following Tuesday. Additionally, the shipping quality was just so-so, the retail box arrived with some minor cosmetic damage.

The biggest issue, however, was the phone call I received the Tuesday it shipped.

Well yes, technically the kit battery with my DSLR only lasts for 30 minutes of _video_ with the screen on, continuous focus, and IS, however it works great for hundreds of shots of photos, which is what I bought my camera for. I don't like companies that try to trick their customers into blowing money on unnecessary upgrades, and this just felt slimy. Next time I might think a littler harder about paying the extra $80 and going with amazon or my local camera shop."

The camera was not shipped in its original box, however, and was not enclosed in any sealed packaging, which initially caused me some concern about whether the camera was new, as advertised. However, it doesn't appear to be used in any way. Also, 42nd Street Photo enclosed one additional item - a lens hood - that doesn't seem to come in the original Sony box.

I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason: When I was called back by a 42nd Street employee to ask whether I wanted a signature required on my package, he tried to sell me a very expensive (700x) memory card for around $120, which he said was needed to unlock high-definition video on my camera. He said that the price was about 50% off the regular price.

He was right that the price was 50% off - Amazon sells a similar card for $250... but the expensive card was definitely not needed to unlock high-definition video. I called Sony to ask about this, and a very wide range of cards all work with high-definition video, some of which cost as little as $5.

"We ordered a camera body from these guys one week ago allowing nearly two weeks for the shipping process before we leave on a trip out of the country. The item still has not shipped, although they we're happy to charge our credit card. Their policy is that all orders must be confirmed over the phone so that they have a chance to sell you a bunch of accessories that you don't really need. We we're not able to get a hold of them until five days after the date of purchase to confirm our order, and they promised to send it out immediately.
