"Ditto, Ditto, Ditto. I got the same scam from 86th street. Great low price on the ad, place the order, got an email to call to confirm the order, pressured to buy additional accessories, and when I wouldn't, my order suddenly became back ordered....6+ weeks even though the ordering site showed the item as available. The good old bait and switch in action......Don't do business with this company. "

"It was the worst online experience i have ever made!!! I ordered a Canon G9 Camera and 2 days later a rep called me to confirm the order and i said no problem, than he asked me why I would order a Camera without Battery. So i told him i checked online and the Package includes a Battery and he told me "not in our Store ,you have to buy it seperat one for 149 dollar but he could give me two for this price". Then he told that i would need a very special SD Card for the G9 and tried to sell me one even though i told him that i have one.
At the end he was telling me that the would Ship one week later(the homepage says in stock)
and then i asked him to cancel the process and at least that no problem .
And i will never buy something from 86th Photo&Video because i think they are Gangster!!!!!!!!!

"TERRIBLE SCAM SCUMS!!!
I ordered and received an email stating I needed to call Jason to verify the order. Upon calling they said it was just to check with battery I'd be wanting. Of course the two "options" they gave me were both at an additional cost, but they didn't mention that until I asked "doesn't the camera come with a battery". They said yes but it only lasts 20minutes. I said I just wanted what I ordered and if I had wanted more I would have checked those items one of the 3 times the online system prompted for it when I ordered. As soon as I hung up I had an email stating that the stock had dropped before my order could be shipped and now it was on backorder for 3-4 weeks. A quick check on their website said it was still in stock. Further research led me to this site, and I immediately cancelled my order online.
Then I called again and just told them I was responding to the original "verification" email. Jason, not recognizing me, stated that my order was on back order for 6-8weeks. I told him I wanted to cancel and he said ok and started to end the call. When I asked for a confirmation number, he said "it's the same as your order number" and hung up!

I immediately called my credit card company and had a new card issued.

One week later I had the camera in hand from a different retailer. The standard battery has lasted 10 days already and still shows full bars!

"I realize I only placed this order Friday, but it indicated In Stock, Ready to Ship when I ordered it. As soon as I confirmed and declined additional accessories, I was informed it would be 3-4 weeks before it would again be in stock. I doubt it, having read these other reviews. Thank you, I'll come back before ordering anything else from anyone."

"My husband ordered this camera for me for the holidays. He was told it would be here in time. Ya-right.. Well, it is now Feb 25th and still no camera. We called and called no response and when we finally got a response it was always another 2 weeks, this went on for I'd say 2 months.... Well, I eventually got fed up and called Staples. Staples matched the price ($229. plus shipping) it still ended up being Much Much Cheaper than any other place AND I got a FREE Canon Photo Printer to boot. SO, I would like to thank 86th Street Photo & Video for being such scums. If it wasn't for their super cheap prices online, I would not have been able to price match with a respectable company and get a free printer. "

Add me to the list of trusting souls who purchase off the internet on a regular basis. I had the EXACT same experience when I attempted to purchase a Panasonic Lumix FZ18...The phone contact tried to sell me a $90.00 battery, claiming the supplied battery was "only good for 15 minutes". As soon as I declined his offer, the camera went from 2 day shipping to 3-4 weeks backordered. I've dealt with other online camera sellers and I've never felt so ripped off by any of them. F these clowns, stay away from them as they are lowlifes!

"I had a ditto experience as other people who posted their comments here.
I placed the order,they email me to call them back,when I call I was pressurised to buy accesories for my camera,I decline to buy any of them ,the very next moment my order was backordered. Many thanks to my brother who sent me the link to resellerratings.com and I was able to view the reviews for the said merchant 86th street photo & Video.
My experience was HORRIBLE and I would not advise anyone to deal with them.They are FRAUD's and lure people with very cheap prices on their website .
I would also like to mention here that the LowpriceDigital.com website too is a sham.The site features the merchants with very poor customer ratings.Please dont visit the website for anymore deals,I would not reccomend it to anyone.

"I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 660 online. I received an e-mail this morning to ask me to call and verify the order. Then I was asked if I wanted to buy the memory card which was significantly higher in price then anywhere else. I said no, thank you, I just want the GPS. I hung up and immediately received an e-mail letting me know that the Garmin is out of stock and it will be on backorder. Obviously, since I did not go for the very expensive Memory Card, my business was not profitable anymore. I went to their website and saw that the GPS is still for sale and is available. Then I tried to cancel the order through the link in the e-mail - the link took me to my account and there was no "backordered item" to cancel. Finally I called and got through and (hopefully) got my order cancelled. They were rude and dishonest. Don't buy anything there!!"

"Amazing. Why didn't I come here FIRST! I'm usually the guy who spends hours researching the product and then finding a reputable buyer. This time I jumped the gun and just ordered.
That was a mistake. My story is JUST like everyone else's except I pre-empted the incorrect expiration date email. I called them almost immediately after I placed the order because my gut told me so. I wanted to know if it was in stock and when it would ship.
Sure enough, it was in stock and I would receive it within a couple of weeks. Even more predictable however, should have been the email I received about TWO MINUTES later telling me the item was OUT of stock and that it would be an additional 3-4 weeks.
I feel bad that not everyone knows that sites like this exist to rate the credibility of online retailers. Obviously the ratings on the product search engine are fake and likely written by store employees to have gotten them their 4 and 5 star seller ratings. Disgusting.

"I also ordered an item from "86th Street Photo & Video" 11 days ago and the day after placing my order for a "Garmin" 660 GPS I received an e-mail from the vendor asking me to call them regarding my order or it would not be processed.

Upon contacting the vendor that same day I was told that I failed to submit my credit card expiration date and they wanted to confirm that information(I know I provided this information when I originally placed the order).

During the conversation the staff member attempted to sell me related accessories which I declined and he told me my order would be immediately processed at the sale price of $339.99 plus shipping.

No more than 10 minutes later I received an e-mail from the vendor claiming that the item was no longer in stock and it would be shipped to me in 3 to 4 weeks.

After finding this site and comparing experiences with other potential customers I immediately cancelled my order with this vendor since my order still had not been processed to date.

I just received an e-mail from the vendor confirming the cancellation of my order and will not order from them in the future.

"I have never written a review like this before but I felt compelled to also tell people not to buy from here, I have had the same experience that hundreds of other have had, we placed an order for a canon sd950 at a great price only to get an e-mail stating it was on back order and would not ship for 2-3 weeks I called the store was on hold for 15 min. and the customer service rep told me it was in stock and asked if I wanted to place an order I told him that I had an order I gave him my order number and then they said it was on back order I called back same thing happened and there webside always says in stock. thanks to this site I was able to correct it before it came a big problem, I was able to purchase my canon sd950 by calling staples 1-800 number and not only did they match the price they beat it by almost 14.00 dollars"

"I could just say "ditto" to all the other experiences. I ordered the camera as it was advertised at $225.00. Then I received a call stating that the month digit of my credit card did not appear...then the salesman started stating that I needed a charger, I declined stating I already had one, then we went onto needing len covers, he could give it to me at store cost ($130 versus $299). I did consent to that. I then got an email stating the item was out of stock, and I could choose "wait" or "cancel". I chose cancel. Then a day later I get an email statig the item had been shipped. At that time I had already ordered from a reputable firm but I had this bad feeling so I checked my credit card and yes, I had been charged, not the $225 or the $355 maximum I had consented to but a total of $474.99. When I called and spoke to Vinny he started yelling at me and telling me I had ordered all kinds of attachments such as a tripod, converter, and lens converters - none of which I did. I told him I had already cancelled the order from them as allowed and ordered from a reputable company. I told him I would refuse the order and send it back to him. I wanted a return number which he refused to give to me until the package arrived. I asked how I could get the number if I were refusing the order. At that time he told me to just call back.

I would suggest to everyone to post notices and send notices to the Attorney General of New York. The process of sending a complaint to the Attorney General is extremely easy and I truly believe these people should be forced to either do business fairly or shut down. It is truly amazing how such a good deal can quickly become such a bad deal. The saying "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is" is really this company's tagline.

"Exactly the same BAD experience as 150+ other reviewers have described! Ordered a Garmin nuvi 660 at what looked like a great price. Next morning received an email stating "In order to further verify your order, we will need to speak with you on the phone." The rep tried to get me to buy additional memory cards...I said "no thanks, just send me the unit as is." Exactly 6 minutes later, received an email stating that "your order will be placed on a temporary backorder until we receive the product(s) back again in stock which will be in about 3-4 weeks." Got suspicious, came to this site...and all became clear. Needless to say, I cancelled my order just as fast as I possibly could (easier said than done, because the on-line procedure described in their email didn't work and I had to wait over 20 min to get through to their customer service rep in order to cancel). They said they'd cancel and my card will not be charged...but you'd better believe I will be watching my credit card statement pretty closely!

"My experience was precisely what I now see has happened to others. They advertised a price far, far below anyone else, then sent me an email asking me urgently to call them. On the phone "Greg" made up a story about how they didn't get the expiration date on my credit card. At this point it started sounding odd. He then tried to get me to buy an extra battery, telling me that the standard one only lasts 15 minutes! I already knew that their prices on accessories were extremely high so I didn't fall for the bait. By then I was getting quite suspicious. Within minutes I received an email indicating my order was now delayed 3 to 4 weeks. I called back and left a message saying I thought they were scamming me, and that if they didn't call back and send me a camera on time I would lodge a complaint. Of course, there was no return call. So here I am, along with a whole host of others!"
