"I had the same aggravating experience as most of the others. I wish I had checked ResellerRatings before placing the order.
This morning I received the Following e-mail from 86th Street:
"In order to further verify your order, we will need to speak with you on the phone. Please call our Verification department at 1-***-***-**** Ext. 213 Jason so we may verify and complete processing your order."
I called Jason and he tried to sell me several high-priced accessories. I told him I was not interested in the accessories and asked him to just ship the camera. Jason said that the camera would not be shipped for several weeks. Since this was contrary to statement on the web site that it would ship in two business days after the order was placed, I told Jason to cancel the order. He said that he would do so.
I am waiting for confirmation."
"Scam. Received an Email that said I needed to call. When I called I was told that for an additional $169 I could get a battery, a memory card, and receive the camera by Friday. When I declined I was told they were out of stock and they canceled my order then hung up. I called back and asked for a manager, I was told that my order was canceled and was hung up on again. "
"Placed order. They confirmed it. Then sent another email to call them. They wanted me to buy things I did not want. Told them to cancel the order.
Awaiting a refund on my credit card.

"Welcome to the 86th street bashing!! The story is the same. Great price, horrible experience, try to sell you a bunch of junk that you don't need, and then BAM...order cancelled.
I did throw them a curve ball without knowing it, I purchased (for 5.00 more) the 3 day delivery.

The order could not be fulfilled and was deleted by them. That's my story. Don't waste your time on these guys. A long shot from what this page has to say about the store...

"Placed an order online on 12/8/07 for a Canon Digital SD 950 IS camera and received a confirmation right away. I called on Monday morning (12/10/2007) to get the status and sure enough, Todd (customer service rep), told me the product was on back order, but they were still taking orders. I decided to cancel my order after reading about all these horror stories. I did not want to waste anymore of my time. Thanks to those who shared all their stories, you have saved me the stress of having to deal with these guys. I will be much more careful next time."

This morning (12/10) I get the 'call to continue processing' email...'call ex 203 to talk to Steve'.
Called; left message; THEN found this site. I subsequently contacted my credit card company with a 'heads up' to dispute any charges from these people, & left another message for Steve to cancel my order.
We'll see how this works out.
I was initially very suspicious of the 'call to continue processing' email...interestingly enough, on the site where I found this place (one of the price comparison sites), 86th appeared to have an above average rating!
UPDATE 12/11...Steve returned my call last evening; started by saying "great news, the GPS is in stock"...then told me the GPS wouldn't work w/o a memory card (not correct) & he tried to sell me one...didn't buy. No real pressure after that; said it would ship in the next day or two, BUT that I wouldn't get it before Christmas (don't know how that could be unless they sent it the required 250 miles by bicycle)...I said fine.
This morning, I received the "not in stock...4-5 week backlog" email from them.
I officially canceled, which, btw, they make easy in their email. "
"Total rip-off! They called me and tried to get me to buy things I knew were included in the basic order for a Canon SX100 digital camera, at highly inflated prices. I refused and got an order cancellation e-mail notice shortly afterward. They obviously try to rip off unwary buyers. Don't fall into their trap! SCAM all the way!!!"
"Got the same experience with these scam artists as described in the most complains here. I ordered a nicely priced digital camera Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 for $260 at http://www.86photovideo.com/products.asp?product_id=18170&from_search=18170. Then, I got email requesting to call Clark at ***-***-**** Ext. 207. I talked to Clark, he convinced me to buy the additional accessories (set of photo filters for $400 and $150 battery) at the "reduces" price of $600 total (including the camera, Medium Camera Bag, cleaning kit, LCD protector, and tripod) - by lying about the quality of Sony original equipment (playing it down) and lying about quality and content of 86photovideo accessories.
When I got the package, there were no cleaning kit, LCD protector, nor tripod. In addition, the "Deluxe Water Resistant Fully Padded Medium Camera Bag" was not as shown on their picture and was in fact small. The "Superior Quality Professional Laser Cut Titanium Multi Coated 3 Piece Digital Filter Kit" was not as shown on their picture and was exactly as the cheap Mercury set sold at other web sites for $25-35. The "Super Hi-Capacity Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery" was not as shown on their picture and turned down to be the battery sold on the web for $25-45, plus it was of bad quality and out of production (according to the manufacturer, Sakar / Digital Concepts).
After that I talked to 86photovideo’s (they charge credit cards as Wisetronics) Clark, Rachel, and Jennifer. Every one of them lied about the content of my package, or about the quality/fitness of their goods, or about misrepresentation of goods on their web site. They shipped additionally, "free of charge", the large camera bag, cheap cleaning kit, LCD protector, and tripod, and "$149.99 External AC/DC Worldwide Rapid Charger", which turned to be not as shown on their site but, instead, the $15-25 set, which was "No longer available for sale", from the same Sakar.
Their 7 days return period for digital camera expired during my attempts to solve the quality and content disputes with them, so I filed the complaint with my credit company – who has more leverage dealing with deceptive, dishonest, and misleading vendors.

"I unfortunately ordered from this co. BEFORE I learned about this site. I was nervous and suspicious after I placed my order so started doing research. I am so glad you all wrote about your experience because now I can TRY to be proactive and cancel/contact my bank. "Same experience. They called me to confirm the shipping, tried to sell me special batteries that I did not need (the camera takes AAs). I refused. Then the camera was magically on back-order. Tried to talk to a manager - they hung up on me three times. Finally spoke to someone for a while. He refused to give me a manager. This place is fraudulant."
