"I don't need to be repetitive here but I purchased on black friday. Then I got an email 2 days later stating that I needed to call customer service. They tried to sell me more additional items and said my camera won't work with an extra $150 battery. The camera cost $200. Lame! He then told me to expect the camera within 7-10 days. 2 days later I got an email saying it was on back order. Called to try to get a different camera and the person said that he couldn't look up inventory and I would have to order. He was very rude and hard to understand. I asked to speak with a supervisor and he hung up on me. I called back and tried to cancel my order and the guy said it was already cancelled and then hung up on me again. Completely weird!"
"This store is an absolute scam. Same drill as the others. Ordered the Gramin nuvi 755t at $299. Received the e-mail to correct my order information. The information they wanted was the expiration date of my card which I found odd as that was a required field and order should not have been processed without it. I provided it to them and immediately got the hard upsell routine. Salesman said the unit would not work well because the installed battery only lasted less than 20 mintues which I knew to be false. I refused their offers for new battery and charging cord for $79.00. Immedately received an e-mail that item was out of stock and back ordered 3-4 weeks. Called and cancelled the order yesterday with no problems; however I notice this morning they have the unit on sale again for $299. Stay away from this place. They should not be allowed to remain in business in light of the fact there are so many reputable stores. Buy with caution and expect a hassle. Of course I do not know if I would have ever gotten the unit, but suspect I would not for some time. "
"I had the same negative experience as others on the site. I placed an order at a low price, got an email to call them to for further "processing" of the order, and was marketed secure digital cards at exorbitant prices. When I refused to buy, they told me the unit was on backorder and would not ship for weeks despite the fact that it states it will ship in "1 or 2 days" on the website. When I complained to them, they cancelled the order.
I would encourage others to report their experience to Google, the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission. 86th Photo and Lowpricedigital.com are engaging in unsavory and deceptive trade practices and should not be permitted to have adwords on google and should be investigated. "
"STAY AWAY!!!UP-SELL SCAM-DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I placed an order for a digital camera from this store on Black Friday, 2008 because it was the lowest price, found by searching on lowpricedigital.com. It was listed at $205 when MSRP is $399.99.
A day later I received an email saying I needed to call an 800 number to confirm my order. They then tried to upsell me and I declined.
After declining, I received an email stating that my order was backordered for 3-4 weeks. I had to call to cancel the order, and had to wait on the line 20 minutes.
I then bought the camera on Amazon.com for only $33 more, and it shipped less than 2 hours after I ordered it!
Do not do business with 86th Street Photo and video unless you wish to buy many extras at elevated prices!"
"Placed my order on 11/6/2008 for a camcorder that should ship in 1-2 days ... They called me to sell extra battery which I didn't want ... When I said "no", I received an e-mail that the delivery will be delayed 3-4 weeks ... After waiting until 12/2/2008 (almost a month), I called to check the status, their customer service rep cancelled the order and hang-up on me without a blink ... Those are the types of online stores that you should NEVER trust what they advertise ... They are liers and should be banned by the BBB ..."

Placed the order, will be here in 2 days, but won't process until I call (should have know then something was wrong), can't get it until after Christmas UNLESS!! "I would not buy a pack of gum from these clowns. I placed an order in August for a Zumo 550 GPS and, in spite of having them listed "in stock", 90 days later, I still don't have it yet. When I inquired, their standard answer is "check back in two more weeks". What a bunch of b.s. They try to upsell you on everything, are rude, and in my opinion, are a bunch of scammers. It is funny how every other dealer int he country has them in stock and these clowns can't deliver. My advice is to buy your product elsewhere."

After being placed on hold two times, a total time of 20 min. I was able to cancel the order. I called the credit card to inform them not to pay any charges coming from 89th. I received another e-mail from 86th, confirming my cancellation and that all sensitive information will be destroyed! "
"I called the store and talked with a sales person to ensure that a particular GPS was in stock after a very bad experience with Techon digital. The sales person said it was indeed in stock but would be delivered more quickly if I ordered the item online... so I did. I got an email confirmation and then a couple of days later got a followup email wanting me to call them ( the same routine as with Techon Digital) I called them and they wanted to sell me extended warranties and accessories.. same as Techon. After I told them politely, "no thank you", I asked how long it would be for the GPS to be shipped. I was then informed that it was not in stock and on back order... 2-4 weeks. I told him I called and talked to a sales person just minutes before I placed the order and was told it was in stock and he replied, "sorry I don't know what to tell you".. I asked about the website that stated the item was in stock and he corrected me by saying. "it says usually ships in 2-3 days". That's how they get around accusations of false advertising I guess. But very misleading. Techon Digital did the exact same thing but their add is even more cleaver. It states " item available". Not from them though... it's available from the manufacturer and they told me AFTER I ordered it that it would take 6-8 weeks and they sent me an email cancelling the order. What a racket. Can't believe the NY Attorney General lets them stay in business."
"This company is listed on 5 other forums as a bunch of scam artest. They offer a to good to be true price on cameras and then make you call to confirm your shipping info and try to sell you overpriced accessories. They told me the camera did not come with batteries and a memory which it did. The bateries they sold me for $ 120.00 are at Walmart for $ 17.00. If you do not buy the accessories your camera is suddenly out of stock. They show all of these awards they have been awarded for customer satisfaction and pricing which can not be real. They are scam atrest. STAY AWAY."
"I ordered a Canon SLR camera and because I did not purchase all the bells and wisles they told me my camera was on back order for 2-4 weeks. 4 weeks later I found out it was all a scam. "Horrible. My phone salesperson, Steve, lied to sell me a kit rather than the item I originally (Garmin GPS), insisting the elements in the kit were necessary. The company, Garmin, later informed me that they were not. The unit I received didn't work. I arranged a return and was told there would be a 20% "restocking fee". One of the stooges I spoke to reduced it to 10% - what a break! - , and I still had to pay their shipping costs ($20), not refundable. I will pursue this with the BBB and Attorney General's Office."
