"Yep, another typical scam. I ordered a camcorder and received an email saying that they had incomplete information but the item was ready to ship. I talked with them on the phone and gave them the info (which I believe they already had anyhow) and was asked if I wanted to buy certain extras. I told them I didn't need the extras and they were very polite. Within minutes, I received another email saying my item was backordered 3-4 weeks.
Don't waste your time!"
"The first two reviews I read here is exactly what happened to me. Teaser rate on items, then they try to sell you accessories that are priced ridiculously high, if you say no they hang up abruptly. Which happened to me 3 times, until finally after waiting over 50 minutes and being passed around a recording came on that customer service was closed, but according to their quoted hours it wouldn't close for 5 hours.
No record of the order I finally just placed on line. I checked the site for 2 days, no record of my order, so I called the next business day and got shipping..said they had it right there and it was to be shipped immediately, but why did'nt I order a battery with it (one came with it and he said but it only lasts 20 min!) I declined,he said it was on it's way to shipping, no problem. One minute after I hung up, an email came telling me it was back ordered! I called customer service and cancelled the order immediately, then called my credit card company and had them put an alert on for that charge.
I see that others have written this same scenario on this company.

" JOKER JOKER JOKER!!!!!!! I bought a Nuvi 680 for 205.00. They called and told me there was a problem with my American Express card. They then offered me an SD card with unlimited map updates for 179.00. I said no, then they came back with 89.00. I thought OK for that price I could update for the life of the GPS. I hung up with them went to called Garmin to ask about the updates and they said that there is no such a thing. I then check my email and 86th photo had sent me an email that it was already sent. I had no time to cancel. I got it the receipt said the total was 319.00 with a FREE 1 GB SD card. The card is not worth no more that 20.00. Tried calling them back and sat on hold for 20 min. and never even talked to anyone. I reported them to AMEX Card they are going to investigate it. I also going to report them to the Better Business Bureau also. I have had it with them. Don't ever buy a thing from them. Hope they go out of business."
"Same story as everyone else's, with the same result. But you need to get lucky to cancel, because it takes time and perceverance to rich out customer service (named Vinnie at ext 213)if you call to cancel, not confirm. Looks like they keep track of calls and do not answer you after you've done with the first confirmation call. Try calling from different phones and do not tell order # until you request not to put you on hold and tell that you call to cancel the order. "
"Ordered a Garmin Nuvi 880. Next day got a phone call to verify address. Tried to sell me an AC adapter and extended warranty which I declined. Was then told that the item was being shipped that afternoon and would receive it shortly. Shortly after this call an email was sent advising me that the item was out of stock and order was canceled.
I called. After forever on hold someone answered. While explaining what I wanted he just put me back into the queue which never got answered - just disconnected after 40 minutes more."

"I wish I had seen this site before ordering. Like everyone else my order was on back order eventhought it was listed in stock when I ordered. The ony good thing about the experience was that the customer rep. immediately cancelled my order when I asked him to do so.

I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 670 GPS on August 21,2008.
Next day, I receive an email asking me to call them to verify my order.
I call and they try to sell me an sd datacard at an outrageous price.
I decline, they drop the price. (still outrageously high)
I decline. They say fine. Should receive order within next 2 weeks.
Almost immediately, I receive an email saying they are out of stock, won't get it before 3-4 weeks and will contact me then.
The GPS is permanently shown on their webpage as in stock. So they are lying again.
How can such companies continue being in business?"
"Ordered a panasonic camera from 86th street photo and video and received a telephone call days later saying they needed information. They tried to sell me accessories for the camera. I said I would purchase them after I tried the camera. They said they would send the order out. The next day I received an email that it was out of stock and if I had any questions I could call a number given to me. I did that and a very rude lady said that the camera would be out 2-4 weeks or I could purchase a package with 2 high capacity batteries for (of course full price)
I thought with the batteries (maybe OK) They shipped the order promptly but added one high capacity battery and the other battery was the one in the box. So, they did have the camera I wanted but scammed me into buying an extra battery and paying full price for the camera. I would not recommend anyone buying anything from this store!"
"Thank you all for your comments... Almost burned, but not quite. I tried to place an online order on their website yesterday, but got an error message and request to call them. I called to place the order today, and after a few numbers pushing, got connect with Johnathan. After attempting to place my order with him, and asking for his name... he abruptly hung-up on me. Seemed fishy, so I did a quick "reviews" check on this company and found this site. GREAT... Thank you! Since I hadn't left any cc information, nothing to cancel and no more grief! Thanks again!"
"Amazing how all these scenarios are identical! I tried to order a Sony DSC-H50 (which was shown as being in stock), got my order confirmation # and 12 min. later received an email saying is was out of stock (I didn't order any 3X over-priced accessories). I called, sat on hold for 40 min, then someone picked up and hung up on me! I finally got through and was told it would be 3 weeks, after a week and a half I called back (got hung up on again!), then got through to someone to check on status and she said it would be 3 weeks. I told her I was told a week and a half ago it was 3 weeks and she said, "That is correct." HUH?!?! Cancelled my order of course, which needless to say prompted another hang-up in my face. Please stay away! Anyone who leaves 'very satisfied' here obviously works at this joke of a website.

"I recently ordered a Garmin Nuvi 360 from 86th Street Photo. After my order they emailed me to say that they didn't have my credit card expiration date. After I called with that information, I then received an email saying that my order was now backordered 3-4 weeks. When I tried to log on to my account to cancel the order, the logon system was not working. After multiple attempts to reach them (extremely long wait times) I reached a representative who was disturbingly rude and confrontational. He tells me his name is "Vinny Nucci" and supposedly his boss' name is "James Buchanan". He reports that there is no way for me to reach his boss. This representative's behavior on the phone was incredibly innappropriate, and after all of this I can't even believe that my credit card information is safe. Furthermore the website still claims that the item ships in 1-2 days. "

"Same story as everyone else - I figured out the scam before I checked around and it's just what I thought. They advertise a loss leader camera and if you don't buy something else, you never get your camera. Ever. Sleazeballs. Probably three guys in a basement in Brooklyn."
