"!DO NOT BUY! Abebooks.com is an unsecure website! Plus they dont send you what you order...ITS A RIP OFF!!!! Right after I placed my very first order with them, (4 different sellers) my visa card number was stolen and racked up charges quickly. Luckily I caught it before too much damage was done. I think one of the sellers stole my card number so BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!! I have an investagation claim against then now. I hope they get busted and shut down!! I have not rcvd 3 out of 5 books that I ordered and its been almost a month. I'm in the process of trying to find out where they are, but after reading the comments on here, I'm not very hopeful that I will ever rcv them. I will be cancelling my account!!!!!

"DO NOT ORDER ANY BOOKS FROM THEM!! I have ordered text books from several websites and have always been happy with the service and shipping times. I paid for expedited shipping and it has been over 10 days and all they have to say is that the order went to the "Bookseller" (who is Abebooks if not the bookseller!) and it may take up to 14 days to get the book.
I have checked the tracking information for this book on the newgistics website, which is the company they (the “bookseller”) uses to track their shipments. And I don’t understand what their status’ are! So I asked the customer support representative at Abebooks. She had no clue. Said I had to ask the “bookseller!”
There are many other websites from which you can purchase books. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!

"Order was smooth and seller provider emails alerting me to updates. I was charged the amount on the invoice and nothing more. The order took two weeks to arrive at my door because it was coming from Europe. I got the book really cheap so no worries."

After the initial order acknowledgement I heard nothing from them for three days and then receive a form email telling me my order had been cancelled because my credit card had been rejected. Amazon had no problem with it. A local restaurant had no problem with it."
"Abebooks.com sells you book for cheap but under the hood charges you out of the country transaction which incurs some more finance charge on your credit card. Beware. Compare the costs before buying from US seller and Abebooks.com (even if marketplace seller is from US). In their policy it says NO-WHERE that they'll charge you from outside the country. They get you by showing you the amount in US$ and charges you in foreign transaction."

"I have ordered lots of books from ABE books. But this last time I had several disputes and they wouldn't address them. I then find out that this particulart bookseller has a horrible rating from the BBB. They should not sponsor companies that don't have good rating.
I couldn't even find information on the other book company.
My biggest complaint......they don't really help you resolve disputes. It's buyer beware! "
"Liars!!! I saw they had 3 books in stock of this book I wanted so I order 2 of them. After the order confirmation, 2 days later received a refund stating thye apologize the book was sold out and should not have be listed. That afternoon I went to their website and found the 2 copies I ordered at 10x of what I was ordering. Apparently the book isn't in stock for the $30 price only the $285 price! The 3 book they had was still at the original price of $30. I tried to order the last copy and again received my confirmation the next day and then a day later my refund. Again it said they book wasn't in stock. I sure if I ordered the book and paid $285.00 THEN it Would Have Been In Stock! RIP OFF'S! The book was originally sold for 14.95. It's a book for teens. Abe should have honored my order and not Lie about not having the book in stock 3x.

"I bought a book from them in 2007 becasue they have good prices. When I received the book, it was trashed, wet and decolored. I should have refused it at the post office, but I didnt. When I try to return or refund the damaged book, they made me jump through hoops after hoops until the refund date is past. They pass me on to their reseller where they told me to go through Abe. Since Abebooks was the seller and the company that took my money, they should have fix the problem and not pass me to somewhere. I am very dissatisfy with the service and product and will never shop with them again. No matter what price they are selling their books. I will also discourage anyone I know from buying their product."
"I ordered four books, which were to come from Ab's Books. After a month of being promised "they have shipped" and still not receiving them, I canceled the order and did get a refund. What I found most frustrating was that neither AbeBooks nor Ab's responded to e-mails or telephone calls in a timely, if ever, fashion. They also lied when they said that the books had shipped. AbeBooks does not "police" its sellers with any rigor. I'll stick with e-Bay."

"I placed 2 peperate orders at Abebooks. However, I was charged and IFC for it being an International order. I would not mind that if I would have been informed that that may happens when I order a book from Abebooks, but nowhere did it make a mention of this during the order process.
When I placed said order and I finally checked my bank account, I noticed that I was charged twice. I called immediately and got the run around. I was told I have to contact my bank to get that removed. My bank told me that Abebooks charged me twice, so they have to refund it. I called Abebooks again and was told I would get a call back once bookkeeping has investigated it. Nothing ever happened. I was charge more because of the IFC and I was charged twice for order #63763082. No return calls, no refund. Guess what, I would not refer anyone to Abebooks. As far as I am concerned they take advantage of people by double charging and not telling anyone that there might be an International fee. Instead getting a good deal on a used textbook, I pay more than if I would have bought it somewhere else.

"I will NEVER use Abebooks.com again! Ever! The book was not as advertised (so it was the wrong book). I returned it right away. It's been two months and I still don't have my money back or the book. The bookseller tells me to contact abebooks and abebooks tells me to contact the bookseller. Neither of them will do anything about it, so I lost my money and still don't have a textbook. I had to rebuy it at the campus bookstore for another $150. If I'd known this was going to happen I would've just bought it at the campus bookstore instead of paying for the book and shipping and still not having a book."
