"Order from at your own risk. I have been trying to contact customer service for two days and have been on hold for more than an hour each time. I never got through to customer service. I am now going to have my credit card company decline the charge and see if that gets a response."
"Academic Superstore provided a painful and prolonged lesson in failure. They require a letter of verification for academic customers, which I provided and faxed to them. Two days later they claimed never to have received it, so I scanned it and emailed it to them. Two days later they had not approved my order. A call to them left me on hold for 10 minutes, and then resulted in some confusion and finally approval of my order. The salesman warned me that the item I wanted was out of stock, but would be in stock the following Monday. Today, Tuesday, I called to check on the status. I spent another 10 minutes on hold, and then reached a rep who said that she had no idea when the item would be in stock, and it would be a minimum of four days after that before I'd recieve my item. I then canceled the order, or more to the point began the cancellation process. Apparently it can take several business days to cancel an order.
A six minute call with another, much more reputable reseller, and I will have my item on Thursday. I will never do business with Academic Superstore aka Gradware again, and will suggest avoiding them to anyone else in the market.
Update: In spite of me calling to cancel the other yesterday (10/5), I found out today (10/6) that they have shipped the order. Now I a must refuse the delivery when it arrives. I am beginning to suspect malice vs. incompetence."
"I ordered the Autodesk Educational Suite 2011 from the Academic superstore. I did not receive a tracking number after the product was shipped. I called the customer service hotline 7 days later and waited 15 minutes listening to a comedian telling jokes. It is so confusing to tell the difference between the comedian and the rep. When I finally connected with a rep, they took 5 mins to look up the order and then didn't give me enough information as to where the package is or which company is delivering the package. After I get the tracking number the rep ends up disconnecting the line. I sure hope this company reads the reviews because they need some massive improvement on customer service and allowing the buyer to see the tracking number. Save yourself some time and go somewhere else to buy your programs. This store isn't worth the hassle."
"I have order office 2010 professional plus from them, Can't login online call customer service she is very nice to help me. with no time all order are done. I received the download at 7:55 am the next day. Great price for what I need."
"I am a professor at my community college. I ordered Microsoft Office Professional on a Monday. My order showed in-stock, but when I called on that Wednesday to ask about my order I found out its backordered from Microsoft. I paid for next day air for delivery which the order shipped out on Friday and I waited until Monday the following week for it to arrive.
I will add the response I received from Academic Superstore:
“Product shipping estimates will be shown on all product pages under the price. This item had gone on backorder so there was a delay on the shipping. However, selection of an upgraded shipping option will not alter the availability of an item. This will only change the shipping method that is used when the item is actually shipped”
This was told to me after the product shipped; notice that is says went on backordered. I was never told this until I called that Wednesday and was told it will ship out on Thursday not Friday.
I would stay away from this company for there are many more places to buy your software from then here! I will be writing Microsoft about this since they list this vender to buy from and let them know how they (Academic Superstore) are tarnishing Microsoft.

"If you enjoy being on hold for extensive periods of time to finally reach a very rude customer service agent this is the store for you.
But wait there is more! When they use drop shipment orders they provide no tracking numbers to you so you can also experience the adenolin coursing thru your body wondering where your order is. When and if your order does show up you may have the wonderful experience of driving 50 mins to pick it up because they delivered it to the wrong address.
Need I say more
I could but I don't like to use bad words"
"Terrible customer service!! Item was listed as instock when in fact it was backordered. They also don't tell you that when ordering CS5, that no seriel code comes with it. You have to get that from Adobe, JUST BUY FROM ADOBE!! I canceled my order but they would not release the hold on my bank account and when I called about it, I was hung up on TWICE!! I'll NEVER order again!!"
"Great prices, poor customer service.
I saved some $30-40 on Microsoft Office 2010 by buying it through Academic Superstore, but after sending submitting my order on Monday (6/21/10)--an order for a link to download the software--and finding nothing in my inbox, I called them. This was the third time I called them, and was put on hold for only 5 minutes (the previous times I hung up after 10-15 minutes on hold). I talked to a customer service rep who told me that it was a glitch--the id number for my college (qualifying me to buy from them) was wrong. She obviously fixed the problem and within a couple of hours, I got my download link. But I shouldn't have had to contact them and wait on hold just to clear up something that was obviously their fault. If I wasn't so eager to install Office 2010, I'm not sure when they would have contacted me about this.
Having said that, the download link (and serial number for the software) worked fine."
"I pre-ordered Adobe CS5 two days before it was released. I also ordered Snow Leopard and a Wireless Wacom Tablet from this place. I expected Adobe CS5 to take some time before it arrived but not Snow Leopard or the tablet as they said they were in stock and have been out for some time now. ALL my items said backordered right away. Today is May 14th and I just received my Tablet a few days ago and I got an email yesterday saying CS5 and my Snow Leopard also have shipped. I paid extra for overnight shipping to receive my order in a timely manner. Well today I got my Snow Leopard but NOT CS5 which was all on the same order and shipped at the same time. I called Academic Superstore to see what was up. Perhaps they were shipped separate. I talked to a lady on the phone and relayed my case and told her that they never provided me with tracking numbers. She took about 10 minutes to look up my information and told me that Snow Leopard and CS5 were shipped at the same time and that they would be in the same package. I told her CS5 was not in the package and the shipping sheet said only Snow Leopard was in the package. She then took another 10 minutes to look up even further? She then came back and said that the Vendor had shipped my CS5 as regular ground shipping, even though I paid for Overnight. I said what is the point of getting overnight shipping!? She said, well it was shipped from the vendor and we can not control our Vendors...
She reimbursed me for part of my shipping costs, but being just about 3 weeks after I ordered my items and the headache's they caused and the more waiting I now have to do... its not even worth it. I would NEVER, NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Horrible service and very very untimely..."
"I ordered MS Office 2007 on 4/27/10 with 2day air from UPS. I received the order on 4/29/10 as promised only to open the package to find a smashed CD inside a CD envelope. there was no other packaging other than the CD envelope and the bubble wrapped lined envelope from UPS. I immediately called Academic superstore to get a replacement copy and the lady i talked to said she ordered a new copy. When i asked her if she would send it 2day air again she said yes. On 5/3/10 i called to see where the order was due to not receiving a confirmation email or anything for that matter only to find out that no replacement order was ever even placed. The guy i spoke with on 5/3/10 would not send the order 2day air even tho that is what i paid for initially. I am still waiting for my order as of 5/3/10.
Update - This is what I sent Academicsuperstore.com
I ordered “MS Office 2007 with a FREE Office 2010 upgrade” on 4/27/10 with 2nd day air shipping. I received my order on 4/29/10 as promised only to find that the CD was without a case and only in a CD envelope shipped in A UPS bubble wrap envelope. The CD was smashed into about 5 pieces upon delivery. I called Academicsuperstore.com’s Customer service line immediately after opening the package and was told that a replacement disc would be sent out that day, April 29th, 2010. I was told it would be shipped 2nd day air as well. As of 5/3/10 I had not received any emails or any type of notification that the package had been sent or any tracking numbers to track the package with.
I called a second time on 5/3/10 to find out where the package was and when it was going to be delivered. I was told that no such replacement order had been made. This was VERY aggravating to me since I was told on 4/29/10 that not only that a replacement disc had been sent, but it was coming 2nd day air shipping. The man I spoke with on 5/3/10 also told me when he placed the replacement order that he would not be shipping the order via 2nd day air (which I paid for initially), but he was going to ship it by regular UPS ground. I finally received my package in good condition on 5/5/10.
Now I am furious. I received an email stating that the FREE upgrade to office standard 2010 is going to cost an additional $9.95 processing and handling fee. Why is it suddenly not free? It even says on your website order status page which I posted below that the “Microsoft Office Standard 2007 with FREE Upgrade to Office 2010”. Is it common practice for Academicsuperstore.com to suddenly charge for something that you originally said was free? If I am not mistaken that is false advertising.

"Fantastic experience. Ordered Microsoft Office for Students. Salesperson was very helpful, had to change my order twice due to the information about the product (only 2 activations on the Enterprise version, but 3 on the Standard version, so switched to the Standard version).
Price was extremely low and only had to email my daughter's junior high school report card that I copied online from her school website for quick approval of student status. Shipped out very quickly after approval - took 3 days from ordering to arrival, made sure that it was in stock before ordering by asking the salesperson."
"Place orders from Academic Superstore at your own risk! They do not provide updates on order status unless you call or email and threaten them to give you an update. There is no indication of online status until you bug them. I ordered an OmniGraffle Pro software which is stated as being available "within 1 or 2 weeks". 3 weeks after ordering, there was no update. My order status was only changed after I threatened to report this store to the BBB. Very, very poor customer service. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE. "
"DO NOT BUY FROM THESE SCAMMERS. ZERO points
I ordered a Windows 7 upgrade. After consulting with one of their 'experts' they sent me the version I supposedly needed. Well I needed the 64 bit version so I had to exchange it.
I called the 800 number sat on hold for 20 minutes until I first in queue and then was hung up on,
I called again and after 20 minutes got someone named Joshua x 458, who wouldn't help me and wouldn't pass me to a supervisor. He said there would be NO MANAGERS FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS, and to call back then. Then he said there was no one in the building with him. Some whine about "I'm low man on the totem pole and I'm not empowered to do anything" lie.
Two days without management? This place is obviously a wire room not selling legitimate licenses, so don't be fooled by their low student prices. Go to your local community college bookstore instead. They just take your money and run. "
"This company is a rip-off. After comparing prices, I settled with this company because it had fewer bad reviews than good. I attempted to order the software, but I was informed that I needed to upload my credentials. I did so, but found that they did not link automatically to my order. So I had to cancel my order and try again. I did so, after my academic credentials had been approved. The website said, "Hello" followed by my name, for the entire session. However, as soon as I submitted my order, the top of the site read that I was not logged in. Thus, I received an email from the site claiming that they did not have my credentials. When I sent an email explaining the situation, I received a response from the company, cancelling my order. No explanation was given. Now this company has a copy of my ID, as well as my credit card number. I am going to be watching my bills a lot closer in the future and am even considering cancelling the credit card. This company is a joke."
"On 12-14-09 I attempted to place and order for Adobe CS-4. The order was not completed because I did not have academic ID. On the 19th I placed a order for the same product and sent a copy of my student ID. They sent me CS-4 in regards to the successful online order placed on 12-19-09.
Much to my surprise about a week after receiving CS-4, I received another copy and my credit card was billed a second time without my authorization.
I called and spoke with a low level customer service rep and he was of no help. I sent a e-mail to cust. service and left a message with Supervisor Rhonda Murphy and never received a call back. On my second call to a supervisor I spoke with Mary Kurk and her main objective was to argue. Finally she agreed to issue a paid return label, but never did.
I would recommend NOT doing business with this company. The customer service is VERY POOR, from the bottom to the top. "
