"EDIT (Mar 9):
Few hours after I sent in the review, I found that the NIC would work fine if I force it into 10 mbps full duplex mode, instead of letting it to autonegotiate the link speed. I also received an email from Acortech and realized that I totally misunderstood their return policy. But anyway, I am happy with the card now :)
Original (Mar 6)
The Via Velocity Gigabit NIC that I purchased will randomly stop working after a few days ("
"Ordered a Athlon XP CPU. Ultrafast shipping by USPS. Unfortunately, item stopped working after 2 months. The RMA and replacing process was also pretty fast. They didn't carry the old model anymore and they sent me a newer model. Very satified with their service. Strongly recommend."
"This company is really good to deal with. I one of these that can't decide and I exchanged everything went smoothly and I really like the things I have bought so far."
"This a great company to do business with, I've placed another order with this company sense JAN. of this year & received both order very quickly. I will be ordering again in the near future.Thank You"
"Second order from Acortech.com, and just as pleased as the first order. I will return for more!"
"I placed the order on Jan 5 2005. Paid $20.00 duty in Canada. Received Jan 10. Opened package and found a major scratch on the top of the CPU. Got RMA number, Shipped it back, cost me $20.00 to ship it back.
Received a response from Acortech, it said We have recieved your CPU. We are sending this item to manufacturer and once we recive a new one from them, we will ship out to you asap.
I asked (sarcastically) if AMD was going to repair it. Acortech’s reply, went something like Dear Customer, CPU's arent repaired. The manufacturer sends us a new one. These cpus have been discontinued by AMD. So the only way to replace the item is to send it to the manufacturer for replacement. The manufacturer does not produce these anymore but they do keep a stock of RMA stock for cpus that are under warranty and need replacing. Some AMD XP cpus are still out there such as the retail box verions. They have been cancelled too but those are easier to find than the OEM versions. When people heard about them being cancelled, everyone bought up the oem cpu's. The AMD xp cpu is being replaced by the Semrpon CPU.
I complained that it was ridiculous, that I had to wait for them to RMA it to AMD. Why didn’t they RMA it themselves originally and ship me an undamaged processor to begin with. Acortech’s reply on Feb 4 2005 paraphrased here: Our apologies. If you want to request a refund if you can no longer wait, let me know and I will do this for you.
Then I replied with something like Yes, I will take you up on the refund offer and cancel the order (#103453). If the order has been sent already or you will charge a restocking fee, then I will accept the order. I would not hesitate buying from Acortech in the
future even though this order did not go as planned. Thank you.
I didn’t receive a response from Acortech, so I left it at that because I know what it means. Find one, ship it and then say what canceled order? On February 11 2005, I receive an email saying Item shipped. On the 16th UPS delivers CPU. I pay for brokerage fees, another $20.00. Open box and…it’s fine. Install it and it works perfect.
Moral of the story is: The lowest price isn’t always the lowest price, especially when things like time, tax and duty are factored in. Even though it took six weeks and an extra $40.00 to get, I would still consider Acortech in the future. At least they answer their emails.
That is really the problem. All these computer companies (online and local) use the same tactics, and know that once they get your money, it’s over.

"First time I did business with these guys.
Got what I wanted.
The item was in a plain yellow envelope with no padding. Would have liked them to use a bubble mailer instead.
I think I will try them out again soon.
----(old review up above)
Gave these guys another try. Same issue as above (no bubble mailer, so item wasn't protected very well). Other than that, it got here fast.

"I WILL UPDATE THIS WHEN i RECEIVE MORE INFO FORM ACORTECH
So far still waiting on a package that was sent 5 weeks ago...."

"I had a poor experience from Acortech.
I paid for fast delivery but they sent the wrong
item. I reported it right away but it took
a week for the right item to arrive.
I returned the wrong item right away.
Then they charged my credit card twice
without reversing the first charge.
So far, I have paid double for poor service
....
Update, Acortech, did respond quickly after
I first did this review and sent them a very
long email. They did credit my account finally
and apologized for the errors.
