"I've purchased a phone using one day shipping method, and I got a confirmation email that says it will be shipped on Dec 1 and delivered by Dec 2. Today (Dec 2), I checked my accound, and my shipping date is reset to Dec 6 and delivery date to be 7. I contacted Amazon, and they said I changed my order which I didn't. They say they can't cancel the order because they are preparing for the order (what? for a week?). I paid for the expensive one day shipping cost, and they wouldn't ship until next week. They are just liars. There is no phone number I can call and talk with them. I would not use Amazon again. "
"After failing to locate both books _and_ DVDs on a competitor's site, I went to Amazon.com and easily located the products. I figured while I was there I would do a little more shopping. Three hours and $300 later I was ready to checkout. At the end (you can’t see your totals until then) of the checkout wizard, I was told my shipping costs were $85 which was almost 1/3 of my order. Upon investigating, I had actually bought items from several other retailers though I never left Amazon's site. I removed the offending items and I'm pleased with the other items I ended up ordering solely from Amazon.
I'm not sure who would actually desire either: placing an order and not knowing who they are actually buying the product from; being charged for shipping from each individual store; or going through the hassle of multiple return policies in the event there's a problem.
All in all, I wasted about 4 hours on their site, and ended up only buying items Amazon sells directly.

"I have had nothing but good experiences from Amazon, but then I have never had a reason to contact customer service or to return an item. I always use the super saver free shipping and am happy to wait another 3 days to get free shipping. I have placed 4 orders in November and I just received the second one yesterday. It was a set of computer speakers with subwoofer. They arrived 5 days after I had placed the order, using free shipping. They were unopened (new, not someones return) and the packaging was in good shape. I paid $110 for the same speakers that Circuit City wanted $200 for. I have always gotten good prices from Amazon. The free shipping saved me $13.50 and I had to wait only 1 extra day to receive my item over standard shipping. Similar highly rated speakers from Target would have cost me $20 in shipping. Maybe if I have a need to return something I will change my mind, but I have ordered from Amazon at least 10 times in the past few years and have always gotten the correct item at a very good price, with free shipping that has always arrived before the estimated delivery date. "I've ordered from Amazon in the past and haven't been dissapointed by them yet. I ordered a Pendleton Wool Peacoat for my girlfriend's christmas present and when the package arrived, it was a different item. Specifically it was a Columbia Sportswear Men's Alsea River Jacket. After getting on the phone with their customer service (the representative sounded indian) they immediately put in another order for the correct item and with expedited shipping as well. The entire time the representative kept asking me if they had adquately addressed my problem, and they have. Amazon has impressed me with their customer service."
"Ordered a printer for my wife for christmas. It was listed as in-stock 1-3 days for shipping with an est. del time of 11-30-05. recived e-mail latter stating that del would not be untill 12-29 thru 1-10-06.I e-mailed them about this and they sent me a form letter about there shipping policy's. Also item is still listed on their site with a 2 day del. of course at a higher price. very hard to find any contact info for them."
""Free shipping"... yes, it's free, BUT Amazon quotes longer delivery, and then sits on the shipment to hold it up - otherwise it'd make it there in the same period of time as regular shipping they get paid for.
I ordered Christmas presents that are, according to the site "usually shipped in 24 hours". But checking order status, I find that they are now quoting delivery as late as Dec. 17th. An order placed a day earlier is quoted for delivery by Dec. 6th under the same 'free shipping'.
I generally like Amazon, but this policy is pretty cheesy."
"Ordered a Bluetooth headset from Amazon on November 16th. The order was promptly charged to my credit card and was advised that it will ship in short order.
On November 27th I received an e-mail advising that my order is shipping. Since this was a Sunday I assume that it would not be moving til the next day, the 28th. Therefore it took 12 days to ship. The expected arrival date is December 5th, almost 3 weeks after ordering.
I wrote to their ordering department and got an auto-reply telling me to browse their website.
It is impossible to contact anyone at this company... Very frustrating!"
"I placed my order the same day I placed an order from BUY.COM. Opted for the free shipping and payed using money order. 4 days later, buy.com sent me an email confirming their receipt of my payment. so 2 more days later i emailed amazon.com about my payment. 3 of their customer service reps said the same scripted message, that it takes 2-3 weeks for them to receive my money order, wtf, USPS priority mail will only take 3 days to deliver. Apparently their customer service reps don't know what they're talking about because I received my order on Nov 17, less than 2 weeks after i placed my order. Or did they expedite my order because I was complaining? Other than their customer service that sucks, I'm satisfied with this store."
