"Although shipping took longer than expected, I received all of my items just as described. Very satisfied with the level of service and quality I received."
"Paid for overnight shipping, but order didn't ship out that day, even though the item was eligible for same-day shipping. I called customer service ***-***-****) when I realized the order hadn't shipped. They looked into the matter, and confirmed that it should have left the warehouse, but hadn't. They waived the shipping charges after I complained that I was expecting the item that day. The representative was friendly, competent, and had an excellent command of verbal English (all too rare these days!)
My package arrived on Monday, when we had ordered it the previous Thursday, and expected it on Friday. It was in perfect shape, and exactly what we ordered."
"I ordered a CorningWare French White 12-Piece Gift Bake and Serve Set from Amazon.com. It arrived with one of the two large casseroles broken. The packaging was terrible, the box extremely flimsy, and it's amazing that more wasn't broken. I also received a shipment from Target.com which came in the same box type (D4) as the above shipment. (Amazon apparently handles the shipping for Target.com..box had the Amazon logo on it.) It wasn't packed very well either. The only thing that saved it was that it was much lighter.
I followed Amazon's return procedures and they replaced the broken set with one that arrived in good condition using overnight shipping. So I have to give them credit for trying to make a bad situation good.
The last part of this story is the return. On 01/08/06 I receive an E-mail which says in part,
"We're writing in regards to Order 102-xxxxxxx.. We hope you're pleased with the replacement order completed on 17-Dec-2005.
We have not yet received the return of the item(s) in your original shipment. We wanted to remind you that you have only 10 more days from the date of this e-mail to return the item(s) we replaced.
PLEASE NOTE: As we stated in our previous e-mail confirming your replacement order, if you do not return the item(s) in your original shipment, we will charge the credit card associated with
the original order for the cost of the item(s). Please contact us if you would like to pay for the items with a different credit card. We'll see how it goes with them crediting my return."
The problem is that the defective merchandise was shipped back to Amazon.Com on 12/21/05 using the mailing label generated from THEIR Web Site and explicitly complying with their directions!
After I contacted Amazon.Com telling them I shipped the defective merchandise back, they said a note would be placed on my file. I did finally get a confirmation E-mail stating, 'We wanted to let you know that we received your return from the above referenced order. As we have issued a replacement order for this shipment, you will not be receiving a refund for this return. Rest assured that you will not be charged for the replacement item(s)."
The good news is that Customer Service came through and things are straightened out. The rebate associated with this was even received! I did have to keep an eye on this process, but everything worked as it should.
Unfortunately, I've had an episode where an acknowledged order was cancelled because of an Amazon.com pricing "error" on their part and no futher incentive was offered to me to make even a feeble attempt to retain me as a customer. They seem to be going down hill and I don't think I'll be doing business there in the future."
"I have purchase 2 items from Amazon is the past 3 months and both have taken over a week to even leave their warehouse. Both items were in stock and said they would ship in less than 24 hours. Amazon used to be one of my favorite online stores but their customer service has gone down the drain. Probably my last purchase ever from this store. "
"Terrible shipping experience. Their Web site says item is in stock and ships in 24 hours but after you order it takes them 1 1/2 weeks to ship the product. They require their affiliate merchants to ship in 48 hours but they can't do it themselves. Yes I even tried overnite shipping for items in stock. It took them 2 weeks to ship. What's the point in shipping priority when they can't get it out of their warehouse. I diverted the rest of my Xmas shopping to other vendors since Amazon is unreliable. "
"I have bought from Amazon many times before, but since they started their expensive club to "get free shipping", their service has gone downhill. When you order something and you select free shipping, it's not the shipping that becomes slower, it's Amazon. Although the item I ordered was in stock and was marked shipped within 24 hours, when you select free shipping, the delivery date goes out. But I know UPS is fast, so I ordered anyway. But the problem isn't the ship time, it's Amazon. It's now 6 days later, and it says "Shipping Soon". If I paid them for the shipping instead, they would have shipped it right away (according to their schedule, it would have been here two days ago.)
Their prices are good, but their poor service reflects that. (In contrast, I ordered something from Buy.com on Dec 12, free shipping, and I received it the 14th!)
"
"I pre-ordered a DVD (Cinderella Man) I ordered this on November 11th. The website said ships Dec. 6th. It finally shipped on the 10th. By tracking the order it said delivery would be on the 14th. Here it is the 15th and still have not received it. Also later on their website it said if ordered by the 12th you could receive it by the 14th. What the heck gives why haven't I received this order ?????? I’ve seen it out in several stores now, wish I would didn't order it from Amazon !"
"I order a Benq pb 6110 projector with the price listing 808.44 marked still had 5 in stock and with $50 rebate by Jan 14. Wait for almost two weeks and revceive e-mail state they do not have it and order from supplyer wait another month. during this period I e-mail to find out the status and no response. I decide to cancel my order."
"I use Http://www.spoofee.com/ to find great deals on the internet, and they listed a deal for a 7MP camera on sale for $100 less than the average going rate. I purchased it right away (along with other Christmas gifts) and paid extra for 2 day shipping. Unfortunately, shipping took 7 days (it was over a weekend, so count 5 days). I was kind of mad that I paid extra for faster shipping, when I could have gotten their free super saving shipping and it would have arrived at about the same time. I contacted their customer support and asked for a refund on my shipping charges due to the fact that it was much longer than 2 days shipping. I got some crappy auto-response which told me how to look up my order status. I replied to this saying that I paid extra for faster shipping (which I didn't get) and they sent me back the same auto-response BS they sent me the first time.
Although I've been shopping on Amazon.com for years, I would recommend not paying extra for their quicker shipping methods, as they are a rip off."
"It's been almost a year after I got the T-mobile Motorola V600 cell phone from Amazon. Yeah, the price is not bad, the item was shipped in a timely manner, and I got it within a week after ordering. However, in the following 10 months I've tried hard to get my $200 rebate back from Amazon. I sent them all the required items for rebate via FIRST CLASS MAIL, but they said they never received that. I then called them in May, June, July and August and based on their instructions I resent my order information, rebate form etc. via email and fax. But still no replies. Just nothing. Recently I just accidently went to a website complaining about all the rebate problems. To my surprise a lot of them (at least 10 or 20 cases) are about rebate problems for Amazon. It seems that people should be more cautious when they come across all the attractive prices after rebate on Amazon. At least I don't trust it any longer.
P.S. After the Nth call (N>5) I finally got the rebate from them by the Christmas. A nice gift, huh."
"I was trying to buy a Celestron ExploraScope (telescope) for my dad for Christmas. Having searched the web for the best price, I came across a great price ($52 vs $79 at the Discovery Channel Online Store) via Amazon.com.
I never heard of E-hobbies.com but thought I have had pretty good luck with other online retailers, I would try Amazon/E-hobbies.
On 12-6-05, I placed the order for one Celestron Explorascope. Happy to find it was in stock, and it would be shipped in 3 days (estimate of 12-9-05).
Concerned that it was going to take 3 days to ship, I called E-Hobbies, and was told yes my product was in stock, no problems. I have called E-Hobbies 3 times, and once I heard a recording stating their new partnership with Amazaon.com to ensure their customers of updated inventory levels. I checked my Amazon account, and there was still no updated information, so I tried to plug my order # from Amazon into E-hobbies website. Well this doesn't work. So I called E-Hobbies, and spoke to a guy, he took my order #, and never once asked who I was, didn't try to verify who I was on the phone, or what I had ordered. Every answer being a "uh huh and ok". He said the telescope was in stock and had not shipped. I asked how it would be shipped (UPS, DHL, et al. etc) - he said he didn't know, that was a shipping department question. Frustated, I sent an inquiry to Amazon.com via email/their website. I did receive a response in a few hours, only to say that the inventory levels were not accurate, and the item is now "backordered" with the vendor, and there is no estimate on when it will arrive. But if it does arrive, they have upgraded me to Next Day shipping. (Now I'm MAD!)
I had to inquire to them, 3 days after the purchase online only to find out its backordered,. why wasn't this known 2 or 3 days prior, and why did I have to initiate a order status. They should notify the customers!
I check to see if Amazon even bothered to update this status - no they have not. In fact they have since added a comment about free shipping for orders over $49 with E-Hobbies.com. Well my order is $52.xx and I paid for shipping ($10.xx) - so not only are you still offering the item as being available with E-Hobbies, but you are also offering free shipping, and charging those of us who order 3 days earlier for shipping, but we get the luxury of a next day shipping upgrade.
I feel like I have been "baited" by both Amazon and E-hobbies.com.
I have sent 2 very unhappy and direct email replies to Amazon customer service. I have since cancelled my order, and reordered with the Discovery Channel Store people, and did get free shipping with their website. (I called them prior to ordering to find out if it was in stock, and they assure me it is.)
My other Amazon experiences, have been fine. This was a nightmare; and I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau over it."
"I puchased 2 Canon Powershot SD200 digital cameras as well as a Digital Concepts universal screen protectors. As all Amazon purchases are, it was easy to find everything I needed, and the price for the Canon SD200's were incredible, the lowest ever, and still is. However, the items were slated to be shipped the next day, but they did not pack or ship until 2 days later. Though the package arrived one day earlier than expected, I think that was more due to UPS having their act together. Also, one of the cameras is a gift, and the card that came on my package for an extra $4 was torn and ruined by whoever packed the box. For $4,they could've been a little more careful."
"Amazon has screwed up my order for a third time in a row. I placed my order on 12/3 for an item that was supposed to ship in 24 hours. Here it is on 12/9 and they have not shipped although their web site still shows the item in stock. I just got off the phone with them and they say that the item is not available and they changed my shipment date to 12/23. I have no confidence that they will make that date either. I had to order through another retailer. They also would not cancel my order even though it has not shipped because it claims to be shipping soon. How that occurs when they have none in stock is beyond me. What a joke!"
"Very slow to ship out orders, but otherwise reliable. 3/5 stars."
"As usual very prompt shipping even on the "free" super saver shipping. Received a week before estimated delivery. Excellent price and service."
