"Amazon is great. I always receive my orders within a week or ordering, and they have an easy-to-use website to navigate. Being a reseller with them is also easy. They are my go-to place for book purchases."
"Customer service is non-existent. I had to wait over an hour to speak to a representative who didn't speak English. When i asked to speak to his supervisor i got disconnected."
"Although it's been a while since I've last ordered something on amazon, I just have to speak to the strong customer service and content that's on the amazon website. I have had my amazon kindle for years now and it has so much free content and the hardware has been reliable. So overall a very great company."
"Scam!!!!! Amazon.com keeps delaying the refund for my order ***-***-****-5637048. I have been waiting for 2 months like a fool!
I have been a loyal buyer for Amazon.com for some years. Recently I am very unhappy with one of my orders. I must write it to warn everyone.
On 8 May 2012, I purchased some Kindles and accessories valued at $1244.94. Some minutes after I paid the order, I realized that I wanted to add something more. So I clicked the cancellation option. The second day I received an email from Amazon.com that my order was shipped in 2 shipments (UPS:1ZW0Y5420258373089;1Z8E26Y00355868145) ! Fine, then I contacted the online customer service team, the agent promised me to change the delivery address to their warehouses and give me back the refund. On 9 May 2012, I got $39.99 refund. (My order was shipped in two shipments, one valued $39.99 another valued $1204.95). But the higher valued shipment was not refunded. Then I contacted the online customer service team, my nightmare began.
In May I should have contacted Amazon's online customer service team for 2 or 3 times. Their answers are like "Ok, we got your problem, we need some time to investigate and refund you". Fine, I understand that Amazon may need some time to figure things out. Then I just waited.
On 11 June, I contacted Amazon's online customer service team again. There was a guy named Tauriq S chatted with me. After explaining him for one hour. He understood the problem and promised me to follow up. And he sent me an email saying "I am sorry that your order ***-***-****-3444248 has not been refunded. I will follow up with you by 14 June 2012 regarding the progress of your refund."
Until 25 June, no body contacted me ever. Then I contacted the online customer service team again. I spent another hour to explain everything to the guy named Hariharan. What his conclusion was "I see that the total cost for this order is $1,244.94. I'm unable to issue a refund for that much amount.
So, please provide your phone number and I'll connect a call to our kindle technical team so that they can issue a refund for you." Then Amazon arranged a phone conversation with me. Of course, I needed to spend another hour to explain to the telephone agent. The agent's name is Joanni C. After the conversation ended, she emailed me "I'm following up on a phone call you made to our Customer Service department regarding on your refund for Order ID: ***-***-****-5637048. I've researched your account, and it looks like one of my colleagues has already working on it. I'm sorry for the delay, don't worry i'm going to make a follow up so that as soon as possible you will be able to received your refund for this items."
It is not surprised that my order was still not refunded. And no body ever contacted me again about the refund. On 7 July. I had to contacted them again. I talked to a guy named
Craig v, this guy sounded quite polite and helpful. I had impression that my issue can be finally solved. After the conversation he emailed me "Firstly, I do apologize again for the confusion around your request for a refund on order number ***-***-****-5637048. As it is a large amount, I have submitted the refund request to our accounts team who are looking into the matter. I assure you that I will call you on XXXXXXXXXX as soon as I have feedback from them. Thanks for your patience in working through this problem with me."
Today is 14 July, I am not surprised my order is still not yet refunded. I have been used to the bad customer service offered by Amazon.com.
See if I can get my refund before August, while my order was placed on 8 May.
Good luck everyone who buys from Amazon.com
UPDATED on 18 July, I got my refund today. After I posted this review, Amazon's team quickly responded my request and called me back. Overall I am confident with Amazon.com, but this order was not handled well."
"I love Amazon.com. I wish it had a better UI/UX but other than that, everything is pretty good.
Prices are competitive, but not the best. But the checking out system is excellent, probably best in the industry. Their PRIME membership is worth having. It pays for itself.
Refund process isn't so efficient though. It could improve, but it's a lot better than most of what's out there today."
"A terrible place to sell. The buyer is always right, even when they lie. A package I sold showed it was delivered, it even had devlivery confirmation. The buyer claimed it never arrived, and Amazon made me refun them. Awful!"
"The *BEST* customer service & fastest shipping (w/Amazon Prime) I have experienced anywhere. I've done 100's of orders over the years and once in while I have had an issue. Amazon CS always immediately rectifies it.
Item doesn't work? "Oh let us next day air you a new one."
FedEx lost it? "Oh let us next day air you a new one."
Issues, though rare, are resolved within minutes unlike other companies."
"Amazon is the best online retailer period. Shipping is free for 2 day air. I have done hundreds of transactions with Amazon and never had a poor experience."
"GREAT site for buyers, AWFUL site for sellers. I've been buying on Amazon for years and always been incredibly happy with the site, but after attempting to sell some items on there, my opinion has changed quite a bit. I ran into a snag within my first two weeks of selling there, and because of that snag, I'll now be taking my selling business back to eBay (where I've sold for years without issue). Here's what happened:
I've been attempting to sell some video games to make some extra money. I've been a collector for years, and I'm very picky when it comes to the conditions of games. I'm also very honest about games' conditions when listing them for sale. The problem I had was that I ran into a buyer who received one of my games and instantly left bad feedback saying nothing but "poor condition." He didn't elaborate any further, and he never came to me first in an attempt to fix the situation amicably.
I sent multiple resolving emails to the buyer in an attempt to fix the situation (even offering to refund his money if he'd return the game), but all of my attempts to resolve the situation went ignored. I gave this buyer nearly a week to respond, and then I decided I was going to send Amazon seller support an email, hoping they would remove this buyer's groundless feedback. Then, I saw Amazon's feedback guidelines, which plainly state that they will not remove feedback unless it A. contains profanity, or B. contains personal info about the seller.
Really Amazon? Seriously?
Here's what that basically boils down to. "A buyer can lie and drag a seller's name through the mud, even if the seller makes every attempt to fix the situation, and even if the buyer has no proof that the item was in poor condition upon arrival."
It's honestly sickening how slanted towards buyers Amazon is. What ever happened to the concept of burden of proof? The fact that this buyer can tarnish my reputation without even attempting to contact me first... Amazes me. What if the game was damaged in shipping? What if the buyer simply didn't read the description (there was case wear mentioned in the description)? These two situations and many more are perfect examples of why this buyer should not have been able to do exactly what he did (and get away with it). I haven't even mentioned seller fees yet... For games, Amazon takes $1 per sale + 15% of the sale. For most game sales, that's going to be about 20% overall. So, let's recap:
Amazon takes 20% of my sale, and to top it off, they allow buyers to run my name through the mud with libelous and groundless claims. No thanks. Back to eBay for me.
Bottom line: Great if you're buying, awful if you're selling. And if you're buying, please realize that you have nearly all the cards in the deck, and try to work it out if things go wrong with a seller."
"The god of all online retailers!
All my business goes to Amazon. Even if I have the option of buying it today, Amazon w/ Prime Membership will always be fastest and cheapest.
Everyone says I should do commercials for Amazon.
Their customer service is downright amazing. There is no other company on this good green Earth that cares about their customers more than Amazon.
Their prices are fantastic, idk how they don't lose money.
And free 2nd day air shipping is unheard of.
BEST SITE ON THE INTERNET!"
"Been ordering items off of Amazon for a couple years and have always been happy with the results. Customer has always been king with Amazon in my experience, keep up the good work!"
"Tell me where else can you get diapers delivered the following day at your door! I love this company!!! Get almost everything I need except for food!"
"Keep sending wrong items.
Placed an order for a nail clip (item A), got a wrong item (item B). Same brand, but cheaper item. Contacted amazon and kept the item B. But I still needed the one (item A) i ordered, so i placed the order again. Guess what happened, amazon sent me item B again... Finally amazon did a refund, but for sure they would lose customer if they keep doing that..."
"I freaked out when the iPhone charger I ordered was broken but the guys at Amazon took care of it really quickly. Really impressed."
"I recently purchased an LED light from Amazon.com. The estimated delivery date for the light was July 2, 2012. On the 2nd, after not receiving the light, I checked out the new Fedex / USPS delivery system that was being used by AMAZON. The reviews that I saw were mostly negative, so I was concerned. However, I received my order easy the next day, which, to me, was more than acceptable. This is especially true since the estimate was only an estimate.
Thank you AMAZON."
