"We have a platform-type bed (with storage drawers underneath), so the bed sits way up high and therefore doesn’t allow for a box spring, or else you’ll be 4 feet in the air! We purchased a high-end Sealy i-comfort hybrid-type mattress, again with no box spring, and suffered through lots of aches & pains the next morning for several years. We did lots of research on the memory foam mattresses, and discovered they are made to sit on a solid base- perfect for the platform bed, and the Amerisleep got lots of good reviews and was literally 1/2 the price of the comparable Tempurpedic’s. We have had the AS-5 mattress (we are side sleepers and want the softest bed possible) for over a month now and I can say so far we are extremely pleased! I used to have pain straight through both shoulders in the am, and my wife was suffering with major hip pain. I am happy to say that is no longer the case! You get in this bed and it slowly just envelops all of those gaps in your hips & shoulders, without “sinking” into the mattress much at all. I would highly recommend this mattress!!! "

"We bought this mattress because of the great reviews and your advertisement that this mattress was great for side sleepers. We ordered this mattress for our RV. Unfortunately this meant that we were stuck sleeping on it for our month long rv trip. Needless to say we never had a good nights sleep for the entire trip. We ordered this particular Amerisleep because it was suppose to be perfect for side sleepers. Unfortunately we bought it for our RV. We have been traveling for a month now and we have not had one good nights sleep. Due to hip pain caused by the hardness of the mattress we toss and turn every night. This mattress was advertised as being soft. It is only soft for the first few inches then it is hard! We will be contacting Amerisleep to pick up mattress as soon as we get back home.

Joking aside. Biggest reason for purchasing this mattress was because of some very painful neck and back issues. Lots of reasons for recovery – change of diet, physical therapy, etc – but the Amerisleep A3 is a big part of why I feel loads better. I upgraded for the multi-type sleeper and I'm glad I did. If you're on the fence about this purchase, don't hesitate. It's totally worth it. All the right support where you need it. And not at all hot. And of course, the shipping and set up were super simple.

One word of advice – make sure you pay attention to the directions around what to put under the mattress. I got the Ikea Lonset slats, which were cumbersome to assemble, but make a huge difference.
