"I would never recommend AscendTech. I ordered 4 computer towers for a non-profit organization that I work for, and we have had nothing but problems with our purchases. The biggest problem started at the beginning when one of the 4 computer arrived not working. It had a bad motherboard. I called customer support to get the problem fixed and received rude service. They refused to admit fault that the computer was bad and made our company pay for shipping to get it fixed.

Now, a month and a half after receiving the fixed computer back it's died again. While turning it on, the computer sparked and smoked. Yet again, AscendTech has refused to help. Since the computer is out of its 30 day warranty, they will charge us for shipping and to fix the problem. Both on the phone and over email, they have been rude, unapologetic, and unwilling to help.

There have been other problems with the computers as well including faulty USB ports. I would never, ever, recommend AscendTech if for no other reason than that their customer support is horrendous.

*UPDATE* AscendTech did finally fix our computer for free, but only after threatening to refuse our shipment back to them and only after we filed a dispute with our credit card company. They sent us the same computer back and it seems to be working so far, but since it has broken twice already in the 4 months we've had it I am not holding out hope. We would have preferred a refund or a replacement."

"I dealt with AscendTech for a bare bones tower for my son for Christmas. I found their prices good and the shipping was very rapid. The only problem I had was in trying to make payment through Paypal. I live in Canada and have a shipping address in the state of Washington because of the exorbitant import fees UPS charges. Although the address is listed in Paypal it is not the billing address of my credit card so AscendTech would not accept it and I had to send them a money order. Not a big deal but I lost the purchase protection Paypal offers. I did find it all explained at the bottom of the listing later but nothing was said when I clicked on the payment & shipping tab.

Anyway, it all seems to have worked out in the long run and I would buy from them again.

I bought an Acer computer thinking it was new (it was only $25 less than a new one at another merchant) and what I got was a power cord and a refurbished machine that was missing a front panel, keyboard, mouse, documentation, media, and after talking to support, a warranty. All of these are supposed to come with the product that they advertised. The ad is no longer on the site but when I called customer service they sent me a copy of what they claim the ad was which has one small line with the specs that said it was recertified. When I asked about the missing front panel, she said the way they get it from the manufacturer is the way they send it to the customer and as far as the keyboard, mouse, documentation, and media, she said they don't send those with the machines and its not in the picture with the ad. They refused to help me and told me my only other option is to send it back and pay a restocking fee. So no matter what, they will make money for screwing me. Since they are not working with me, I am currently disputing it with my credit card company and the better business bureau. After I told them I was doing that, they said I was going to be even more screwed with a bad credit rating and that they would be adding me to a few lists of their own. We'll see how far I get. This company is bad news, don't do business with them.

I see they responded by arguing that it was a $77 dollar difference even after I sent them a screenshot of it in my cart for less than a $25 difference. And it did not say refurbished when I placed the order."
