"I called on 03/03/05 to check the availability of a Asus motherboard. At that time, the sales told me they didn't have the product in stock, but promised to give me an update when the product was available, if I could leave my name and number. I did. A few days later, I got a call from Atacom telling me they have got shipment in. I placed my order and got the shipment in two days. I was impressed with the service, and I'll certainly recommend it to all my friends."
"I would recommend Atacom to all my friends and will definitely make another purchase when the time arises. Very good prices and fast shipping. Got my item on time. Salesman was polite and gentle. One of the best sellers I’ve ever dealt with."
"Paid cash for defective product, Atacom has refused to make good claiming they tested same when they didn't. Big mistake to do business with these unethical clowns."
"I placed a very large order and got very good treatment. They noticed an incompatibility between the power supply in the case I ordered (20 pin) vs the new ATX (BTX) 24 pin motherboard I ordered and called me to let me alter my order. At first they wanted a faxed copy of my driver's license and credit card, which I thought was really weird, but after talking with them they withdrew that request. Everything I ordered arrived within a timely manner by UPS Ground and everything works so I haven't had to do an RMA.
Their accents can make them hard to understand but liberal use of "pardon?" seemed to work. I hope they will treat me well in the future if I place a modest order."
"I ordered a rare memory module for an older computer system. I was shipped something similar, but not compatible. Now I can't contact them, their fax number is an answering machine, and I've gotten no responses to my emails.
I'm going to refuse the charge on my credit card and remember never to shop here, again."
"I ordered an ASUS Star Ice CPU Cooler from ATACOM and received it damaged in its packaging. It was also shipped in a package much too small for it. Got an RMA number and shipped it back to them. Now I can't get anyone to answer their phone, call me back, or answer any of my email inquiries about when a replacement will ship. Their customer service really stinks and I wouldn't recommend that anyone purchase anything from these people unless you want to go through the same type of hassle or worse. I wish I'd read the reviews about them before making the mistake of buying from them. "
"Overall excellent experience - ordered parts on the 6th, had them 2 days later. Originally wanted to do in-store pickup but it turned out the 3% charge would have cost the same as having it fedexed - fedex told me 3 days for delivery, it showed up the very next day. Good prices, too."
"I ordered a Geforce 6800 128mb card from these guys because they were semi-local. I called to make the order, and the card I was looking for wasnt in stock, so I asked if they had another brand in. They said yes we have the MSI. I asked about a Gainward and he says ok.. I can get one of these in an hour. I said nevermind, ill go with the one you have and I want to make sure it will be there because I have to drive a ways. I said, can I pay for it now? He said sure, It took me a few to find my card, and when I did, he then mentions that Credit Card sales cost 3% extra. This isnt mentioned anywhere. I said ok, ill pay cash. He took down my information, gave me an order number, and said I was set. I figured it wouldnt take long for them to get it out of their stock, but they say it takes 4 hours. Right away im pretty suspicous of this. I get there and sure enough they are "Oh My god, its out of stock!!" I sure enjoyed watching the sales people joke around while I was standing there waiting for an explanation of why I just drove 1.5 hours to them to get the card. The only thing they would say is, come back tomorrow and we get you a SIMILAR CARD. Thanks for nothing! Ill never shop there again. I really enjoyed the rush hour traffic too because they decided to make me pick it up so late when they didnt even have it in the first place!
Bottom line is, if they say its in stock, its most likely not. Untrustworthy, Dishonest people. "
"I took a chance on these people knowing that they had less than great resellerratings because they had a great price on the RAM I wanted. In short all the negative evaluations you read are correct. This company does not know the meaning of customer service. I ended up cancelling my order because they didn't seem to think that orders needed to be shipped in a timely manner. I called twice and was told your order will be shipped out ASAP, its in stock both times."
" I purchase for two companies, one my own, and one I'm network admin for. I have placed multiple orders with ATACOM, and in all possible forms. It seems that if you use a credit card, things go reasonably smooth. Then I started using company checks with purchase orders, and that's when the world of customer relations went to the dogs. The order before this one took four weeks to arrive which is completely unacceptable in this day and age. I called to cancel the order but was told that it had been shipped. When I asked for the tracking number I was told it would be emailed to me later that day. They never emailed me the number because they ever shipped the order. They told me it was shipped to prevent me from canceling the order. This is one of their terms. Oh, just so you know, these orders are upwards of $2,000.00 or more. This I believe is the reason why they would blatantly lie to me and tell me the order was shipped, when actually it didn't ship until the following week.
So you are probably asking youselves why I would place another order with them. Well, after lengthy conversation and promises that this would not happen again, and the fact that I hadn't secured another source yet, I placed this order. The difference in this one is that I used a bank check ($1000.00 order) because they said that it would not take as long as a company check. Well today is July 29, the order was placed July 7 and still nothing. You can't check your order when using money orders or checks. Why, I don't know. I asked once and was told that they just changed software and, yata, yata, yata, the same old excuse. I'm going to call on this one today, but I know what they are going to say.
One good thing though, I have since found two new possible vendors with prices the same, and most better than ATACOM. If there was a way to shut these guys down, I would do it in a heart beat. If your thinking of purchasing from this company, good luck. Don't believe what they tell you over the phone, and demand some sort of immediate proof of what they claim. If they lied to me, I'm sure they've lied to others. BEWARE OF THIS ONE
UPDATE:
I called yesterday and guess what I was told. That's right "the order was shipped today". That means I couldn't cancel it. Well about two hours later I get a call from Mark at the main office number, telling me that two of the items are out of stock. I thought it was shipped???? One of the items was the basis for the order, so I told them to send the bank check back and cancel the order. No problem, right? Wrong, I get another call from Mark telling me the missing items were in fact there. He just hadn't read his inter office emails. I told him that I'm not too happy with ATACOM at the moment and that all these items must be in sealed containers, and not be returned items thrown in just to make up the order. I was assured that it's all new and I would have a tracking number by later today (July 30). We will see"
"Ordered an Antec power supply, and TWO DAYS after the order these jerks still haven't even sent an order confirmation email. (So, I have no "Invoice number" to give). I made a screen shot of their sales ad at Pricewatch because I KNEW they'd try and weasel out of order some how (I always do this regardless of vendor since most Pricewatch vendors lie). Now I see why they have nothing but negatives at Pricewatch! I checked their sales ad today and the a-holes CHANGED THEIR PRICEWATCH AD!! Now I have a pi$$ed-off customer thanks to them! "
"Avoid this company. Why order from a company with such low rating already? I decided to chance it because i was lazy in researching other companies but i got what i deserved. After 2 days they called me and said that they couldnt ship to my shipping address, well thats ok its for the credit card users protection, but then the next day, that evening I get a call that the item Lian Li pc06010 with aqua side panel is out of stock. I emailed them and asked why isnt it show "out of stock" on thier website. Yeah you guessed it I got a autoreply thanking me for my concern and maybe i could buy another case instead...sure...
BEWARE ATACOM ISNT UPDATED WITH WHAT THEY HAVE IN INVENTORY! I AM NOT THE FIRST REVIEWER WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM.
"
"I ordered a ATI 9600Pro; recieved it three days later, no problems."
"
After considerable web research, (one week) I located a motherboard that exceeded all the overall specifications of the current 400FSB Nforce2 motherboards on the market(including the Abit NF-7 and others), the little known FIC AU13. The problem was that the board was so enigmatic that no distributor I found had or even knew of the 400FSB version of the AU13.
http://www.fic.com.tw/product/motherboard/1stmainboard_detail.aspx?model_id=118
Three version of the AU13 had been released, some had serial ATA, some did not, some had 333FSB. Atacom was one of the few distributors worldwide that even offered the board, much less had it in stock. Also the specifications of the other distributor websites were incorrect with respect to the AU13; Atacom was the only distributor that had the correct specifications (except for underselling the board as a 333FSB). As a matter of fact the board was so new and esoteric that my rep at Atacom (his name is Houston, extension 120) was unsure if his current inventory was indeed a group of 400FSB AU13's or not. I told him that if the board had the serial ATA option then it was most likely the 400FSB version. He said he would rather sell me a 400FSB at a 333FSB price rather than risk me being unhappy with the purchase. This impressed me mightily.
The AU13 was a hard to find board, not many resellers carry it and even fewer resellers have the 400FSB version of the board. PCstats.com was one of the few sites that has done a review on the FIC AU13.
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1369&page=1
So when I purchased an AU13 and I found out that it was a 400FSB board after it was delivered, I then made up my mind that Atacom was an excellent distributor. I've been dealing with Atacom for some years now but this important order separated them from the rest of the crowd as far as I was concerned. I called my rep Houston and told him they were actually selling 400FSB AU13's. He appreciated the call, and assured me again that he would rather sell a 400fsb as a 333fsb any day rather than risk having a dissatisfied customer.
Another thing that was extremely important to me was that the AU13 arrive in mint condition without the static bag having been opened. Before it was shipped, Houston assured me that this board was unopened from the time it left the boat from overseas. When I got the board, it was sealed in the prettiest motherboard box I've ever seen, and the static warning tamper label was intact and factory sealed. Needless to say, all my prayers were answered, I was extremely happy with the deal, and now I'm a very dedicated Atacom fan.
Best Regards,
L.Xaphir"
"Mixed Purchasing Experience, not that good but not than bad. Found an ATI x800 XT Video card on Pricewatch that Atacom advertised, and was one of the lower prices for that card on Pricewatch. Went to Atacom’s site to order it and the order process went fairly smooth, even got the email confirming my order (16 June). After two days I could not check my status on my order so I emailed Atacom's sales department. I received a reply from the sales department within 24 hours which was encouraging (18 June). The email explained that I could not check my order status because it had not been shipped yet because the card was on back order. This was rather disheartening as there was nothing mentioned in my initial email confirming my order about the product being on back order. I also found that I could not find any way to check product availability on their website. The Email continued to say the ETA for my order to ship was next week. It would have been much better to know this information before I placed the order or at least something in the order confirmation email. Did go back and check the other sellers on Pricewatch. Was glad to see that Atacom was not advertising the card anymore since it was not in stock. There were several other companies that offered the card and I checked their sites for availability. Out of the 4 I looked at 3 showed an availability status on their website. Atacom price is still one of the lower for this and since the availability through other companies is also low I am going to ride this out and see what happens.
The latest update is that the cards ETA is now 6 July. I had a little misunderstanding when I emailed Atacom for a new ETA. The reply for an updated ETA got me an explanation on why my order was on hold still instead of what the new ETA was. A second Email did get me an updated ETA. Both emails were replied to within a 24 hour period. The funny thing I keep realizing is that all of this is due to no information being passed on to the customer whether via the website with availability info or through email. They gave me an ETA for June 21-25 and when that ETA had gone past I don’t believe it should be the customer that should have to Email the company to get an updated date let alone get an email reply that just regurgitated the information in my first email less an ETA date. (See email below)
ETA 7/6. Thanks.

Dear ATACOM:
I understand that the cards you have in stock are the X800 Pro's, and I also understand that my order is still on hold due to you not having
X800 XT cards in stock. I was just asking if you had and estimated time of when you expected to have the cards in stock. I am wondering
this because I will be competing in a PC game Tournament on 16 April 2004 and would like to have the card for the tournament. I know the
cards are in high demand and the supply is short, so knowing an ETA can be difficult. I placed the order with ATACOM because I had ordered from you before and was pleased with the service, and because when I placed the order there was no mention of the card being out of stock. I just wanted to know if you had an ETA for the X800 XT cards. I'm sorry if there was any confusion. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Eric Zwetzig

Dear ATACOM:
I am writing to check on an ETA for my order. Your estimate in your Last E-mail was sometime this week and as it is Friday one week later I
was curious if you had an updated ETA. I know that cards are on backorder from almost every online store that I have looked at and most of them were saying at least two weeks so I was just curious if you had an updated ETA. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Eric Zwetzig

Dear Valued Customer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The video card is in back order at this moment, therefore, we have not shipped out the order yet. That is why the order status is not available at this moment. Once when we ship out the order(ETA next week), you will get an Email with UPS tracking #. Should you have any questions, please feel free to let us know.
Thanks, ATACOM, Inc.
