No kidding

"On January 16, 2024, I purchased a muffler and an exhaust gasket from AutoZone.com and paid an extra $4.99 for 2-day delivery.

Problem #1: The muffler was late, arriving on January 19.

Problem #2: The muffler is dented, which came as no surprise considering that it came in no package whatsoever, just a muffler wrapped in a little plastic—not even bubble wrap.

Problem #3: The two muffler support arms, which get installed through hanger holes, do not bulge at their ends, leaving the support arms at risk of sliding out of the hangers.

Problem #4: While I was waiting for the exhaust gasket to arrive so I could fix my car, I was using the only other vehicle that I own: a motorcycle. But coming home every day with hands that were nearly frostbitten left me with little choice but to reuse an old gasket of mine and install AutoZone’s muffler, which I did on January 23. (I had to rig the muffler support arms with thick zip-ties to reduce the risk that the arms slid out of the hanger holes.)

Problem #5: On January 25, I called AutoZone customer service number and spoke to a “Louis.” When I told him I wanted my $5.60 back for the gasket that never came, he told me that he could not issue me a refund and that he must “submit a request” for one because my order for the gasket was “special.” Dumbfounded, I asked him what made my order so. He replied that what made my order special was that it was coming from Memphis. Say what? AutoZone’s headquarters are in Memphis—headquarters, by the way, that it would take me all of three hours to drive to from the address that the gasket was supposed to be delivered to. Louis might as well have told me that my order was special because his favorite color is blue. So I told him he needed to have my $5.60 credited back to my card within “a few days.”

I waited until February 1 to see if AutoZone had credited my card, and they had not. So that day I wrote and mailed a letter of complaint to their headquarters in Memphis, telling them what happened and that I wanted my $5.60 credited back to my card by the close of business on February 14.

Well, we are now one full week past that date, and I still don’t have my $5.60 back (or the new gasket, which I ordered over a month ago and which of course is useless to me to now).

Totally messed up!!

"I was stranded needing a radiator overflow tank cap. I ordered one from the nearest AutoZone and it turns after taking the last bit of money in my account for the part they canceled the order because they didn't have the part! The website and their computers said they had the part and no stores near them had the part although they said they did! I ended up going to O'Reilly's who actually had the part but still waiting for my refund after 2 days from AutoZone! Doing things half **** backwards!!! Online should be checking the store's actual inventory before taking your money!!!! "

Not delivered

"My product was supposed to be delivered on a Friday morning (next day delivery). Upon checking online, it kept saying processing. I called customer service, and was told that there was an issue and they wouldn't be able to get the starter to me until Monday. I asked if they were going to supply me with a car for the weekend. Of course not. They found the item in a store 40 miles away. Sorry people, I need a new starter because my car won't start. Unable to ship it to my store today. They have lost my business."

Express next day Shipping to good to be True,

"Oops something happened. Every time is not an oops! The first order that showed up two days late I gave the benefit of an oops. The second order is now three days and it’s still being packed for shipping. Just be honest, they really don’t care, then you finally get a tracking number and how is it ever going to be next day if the part is in California and you are in rural NY. "

Crooks and scammers

"I ordered 2 sets of brakes on March 3 with next day delivery. I received an email that the same order would be delayed by 24 hours and offered a $10 gift card. The order still hadn't shipped after 24 hours so I contacted AutoZone and was told it would ship the next day. After 4 days, no shipment. I called again and was told it would be delivered in 3 days. No shipment. I've called for a third time( now having spent over an hour on the phone (for a measly $10 reimbursement) to cancel the order and I am being told they will not cancel it or refund the money because FedEx has to pick it up. It's canceled- there's nothing to pick up anymore.

I'm not sure where the incompetence lies, from the warehouse, to the customer service, to the supervisors, it's baffling that no one can get a straight answer. It's even more insane to think that's a third party logistics company has anything to do with a transaction between AutoZone and their customer. If an order is canceled and has not shipped, why does Fed Ex have anything to do with refunding the order?

Alas, I'm standing at the register to buy the brakes from Advanced Auto Parts as I'm writing this. AutoZone is ridiculously messy. I'm curious of how long it's going to take to get my money back, or if I'm going to be stuck in limbo for that too. BUYER BEWARE

stay FAR away

"I ORDERED A PART (1 BRAKE ROTOR) ON JULY 1 OR 2ND 2021. THE ASSOCIATE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE AT THE STORE IN 3 DAYS. IT IS NOW JULY 13 2021 AND I HAVE CALLED AND GONE TO THE STORE AND NOONE CAN GIVE ME AN ANSWER AS TO WHEN I WILL GET THIS PART. I CALLED TODAY AT 8:45 AM AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART IS NOT IN YET AND I JUST HAVE TO WAIT. WHEN I ASKED WHEN IT WOULD COME, BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME 3 DAYS ALMOST 2 WEEKS AGO, HE SAID 'SIR, DONT HOLLAR AT ME'. I DID NOT HOLLAR OR RAISE MY VOICE AT ALL. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT I DID NOT HOLLAR HE SAID 'WELL I AM NOT GOING TO TALK TO YOU'. I ASKED FOR HIS MANAGER, HE SAID 'I AM THE MANAGER'. I THEN SAID THAT I AM GOING TO WRITE A COMPLAINT AND ASKED FOR HIS NAME, HE THEN HUNG UP ON ME WITHOUT GIVING ME HIS NAME. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY OWN VEHICLES FOR 25 YEARS AND NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NEVER BUY A THING FROM AUTO ZONE EVER AGAIN. I WILL NEVER EVEN GO INTO AN AUTO ZONE STORE EVER AGAIN. I WILL TELL EVERYONE THAT I KNOW OF MY EXPERIENCE, POST MY EXPERIENCE TO AS MANY SOCIAL MEDIA SITES AS I CAN FIND AND I WILL RECOMMEND A GREAT ONLINE PLACE (FCP EURO) TO GET PARTS (ALWAYS IN 3 DAYS, DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE). THE STORE WAS ON STREET RD IN FEASTERVILLE PA IF ANYONE AT THIS COMPANY CARES ABOUT STAYING IN BUSINESS. BUT WITH MOST PRODUCTS BEING SOLD ONLINE THESE DAYS I HAVE SERIOUS DOUBTS THAT AUTOZONE WILL STAY IN BUSINESS WITH WORKERS LIKE THEY HIRE. JUST ANOTHER POOR COMPANY WITH ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. Awful customer service, miscommunication

"Ordered a set of brake pads and rotors for my car. I ordered over the weekend and had two day shipping so the site said it would be here on that Tuesday. Tuesday came around and the order hadn't even shipped yet so I called customer service who told me that the item was coming directly from a vendor and it was delayed so it may be delivered next week but that is just an estimate. Since this is an important part of the car, I told them I wanted to cancel the order and be refunded so I could go somewhere else to purchase the items. (website specifically says that I won't be charged until the item shipped and I was charged same day so I assumed that it was processed immediately) I twas told that I couldn't cancel it because it was coming from the vendor directly. And informed me that when it comes directly from the vendor, the customer is charged immediately. They told me that all of this information was on the order page. If it was, it was in tiny print that was not readable. He then brushed me off and asked if there was anything else he could help me with, so I said I wanted to talk to his supervisor. He put me on hold and did not bring the supervisor but had conveyed that they told him they would try and get ahold of the vendor to cancel the order but that wasn't guaranteed and it may take 24-48 hours. Overall, nothing was solved, I do not have my products and I do not have my money. I will be contacting my bank for further assistance since autozone is incapable of helping the people who keep their business open.
I don't understand why they don't make it more visible that there are different rules when things are coming from a vendor. And make it more visible when an order is not coming from autozone directly. Also, if I wanted to order from a vendor, I would have ordered through them. I ordered on autozone.com, and it should be safe to assume that orders come from their wearhouse. If that is not the case, or they do not have the item in stock, it should be listed as being on backorder rather than arriving in two days. When you are dealing with a well-known and reputable company, I would think that there would be better measures to assure that orders are met in a timely manner and communication is made if there is a delay or exception. Even when a delivery date is "estimated" that still generally means that the delivery will be made within a day or two of that date.
Definitely will be finding other autostores, as they are a dime a dozen, and will be making sure that people know not to come here. Not sure how this company is staying in business when they are putting false information on their website and their customer service is trash and less than helpful.

Richard Kingdon Makes Them 5 Stars

"I had work done at a nearby auto repair place that quoted $80 for a dipstick replacement. I came in and Richard was welcoming and energetic. He did such a fine job of listening and helping me weigh the various options, and even went outside to my car to assist; he ended up determining an ingenious way to help me solve the dilemma and spared me the time and energy of buying something there that didn't work. They ended up not having the specific part, but he again saved the day by helping me find the closest Autozone location that did have it, as opposed to waiting several hours for it to arrive at their store (for which I would have waited if it weren't for him). His help and intangible intuitive assets (which really have been conveyed in my writing far less superior than actually experienced) is a clear example of a five star employee who deserves both recognition and advancement for ability and effort.

He saved me $65 yesterday. Thank you... I'll be choosing Autozone again next time.

Truck has been sitting waiting ... waiting ... waiting ... and it was USPS all the time

"I ordered a water pump for direct shipment as the closest auto parts store is 85 miles away and did not want to drive in the snow. I received an email stating the shipment is on the road on January 20th. For 10 days, the USPS tracking said the shipment is ready to go with USPS awaiting item. On February 1 I just looked and somehow it went from waiting on item to being in Denver with the shipment sitting with the USPS this entire time while I was blaming the warehouse. The lesson is to order directly from the store even if they are 85 miles away and skip the ship to home. Next time it will be driving over the snowy mountain pass and not wait several weeks. I posted excellent because I haven't really had any bad experiences with Autozone until this time and it was not their fault."

Battery replacement caused PERMANENT damage to my car engine

"Going to the Livermore, CA Autozone late EVENING to get my battery replaced resulted in a broken coolant hose that led to overheating of my engine, resulting in permanent engine damage the NEXT MORNING which would cost me $4500+ to replace. This 2009 Toyota corolla could have last me another 5-8 years easily, but it was completely damaged.

I called Autozone, and Shailini, the store manager, nicely asked me to file a claim with all the evidence/receipts/photos/diagnosis and quote by mechanic. She asked me to email her supervisor, John Correia.

He never responded to my email, but eventually called me on the phone to rudely/unhelpfully say that they denied my claim because my car should have given me a warning about the overheating so that I should have known to stop driving it.

He did not deny that they/Autozone broke the coolant hose, yet took no responsibility whatsoever. So, each time Autozone breaks something in your car, they rely on Toyota or the manufacturer to give you warnings while taking no responsibility for the unnecessary damage they caused.

Even though I think this argument is weak and completely flawed, I asked them to at least compensate me for the $375 I had to pay for getting my car towed from the highway when it broke down. He declined.

I have had terrible experiences in the past with Autozone, and will never go to any Autozone again. They provide terrible service as well as illogical/absurd explanations despite all evidence/documentation.

(P.S. In the first place, I had to replace the battery because a San Jose, CA Autozone put in a completely incorrect battery/wrong size, which led to my car not starting after a year or so, which also required me to get a tow.)

Rewards program is a joke

"Rewards program is a joke. Autozone employees need to be trained more effectively. I had $40 in rewards credits, went to purchase a part to find out my $40 was used in Florida to buy a part.I live in New York... I've had 2 transactions were the Autozone employee used their own rewards account to steal my points. Since this employee used their own rewards account, the part warranty was also under their name even tho it's my credit card used to purchase. They wont let me return the part. They advertise "didnt get your points? Dont worry we can scan your receipt " come to find out you can only do this 2x a month within 30 days.... I'll be shopping at Advanced Auto Parts from now on!"

"I use several Auto Zone stores in the lake county Florida area but my primary close to home store is the Montverde/ Clermont store #4829, The service you receive here is very good, Joe, Kresh, Vanessa and the whole staff at this store are truly glad to help look up easy and or difficult to find items that may or may not be in stock, they will locate it at another store or warehouse and have it that day if at all possible, they watch your reward points and always offer the option to apply them to your purchase, it's just a nice place to do business with people that know their inventory and their job."

Got to the store, and a newer Toyota pickup sitting in handi-cap spot

"The young gentleman that owned the truck( looked 19), i ask why it was in that spot? The other co-worker ask him, and he shrugged his shoulders and saidche didnt care.
