"Worst internet purchase experience of my life. I had similar experiences to the other ratings here. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE.
I canceled my order. Three days AFTER I canceled my order they attempted to charge my credit card"
"I'm not really sure how this company actually stays in business. As you will read in these reviews, it seems most of their transactions end up returned, refused, or otherwise uncompleted.
As with so many of the other reviewers, I searched on th ename of an item I wanted - a Nikon D200 camera. Looking at one of those price comparison sites (ShopcartUSA.com) showed a very good price for the camera. And a good rating for the merchant - this as you will see is obviously a fraud, so keep in mind that you cannot trust these apparently unaffiliated sites to be so.
Of course, too good to be true is. But I thought I was savvy enough to see through the scam. Clearly this place makes contact by advertising a low price on the most basic item - a camera body with nothing that is packed with the body from the manufacturer - no battery, no charger, no software, no memory card. The prices listed for these items a la carte are hilarious. So I reasoned that the game was to sell "packages" with very uncompetitive pricing.
No problem, I can be stubborn, and refuse any extras. I went ahead and bought everything "extra" that I needed on Amazon and placed the order for the camera body alone with BestPriceCameras.com.
Followed up in a couple of days - as yet no charge had appeared on my card, no communication from the seller other than the original order confirmation. After a long hold, my order is looked up and I am told it was cancelled. Why, I ask? Put on hold again having been transferred to Customer Service, which eventually comes on with a recoreded message that I'm outside their hours and hangs up.
So as near as I can tell, since I ordered just the body, calling their bluff, they simply cancelled it. I am actually glad this happened and I wasn't put into an "out of stock" loop like others have been. This was at least unambiguous.
Bottom line, forget trying to beat them at their own game, you will never get any merchandise other than, appartently, by slipping up and buying a horribly overpriced "package." A place like this clearly should not be in business at all. DO NOT BE TEMPTED, it will not work out for you."
"I guess you get what you pay for. I searched the internet for the lowest price on a Nikon D40X body and came across bestpricecameras.com Boy did I walk into a nightmare! I placed the order on-line on 12/3/07. On 12/4/07 I received an e-mail from "Mr Accessory" stating that my "item has been placed on backorder" and "We are sorry at this point we do not have any ETA". I waited 2 weeks then called to get an update. I spoke to someone who didn't identify himself and when I told him I wanted to cancel my order I was placed on hold for 15 minutes. I called back and spoke to Edward I gave him my order # and explained that since the item was not in stock I would to cancel he assured me that my order # would be my cancellation # and my order would be canceled.
I wish I had looked at resellerratings.com BEFORE I ordered!!"
"Like so many others I read reviews on some of the less authentic review sites before I found this one and a few others. I placed my order on Sunday 12/16 for a Canon HV20 camcorder and a fantastic price. We all know the drill, the site says full US warranty, brand new, and it seems outwardly to be an extremely customer service driven site. Well, Monday I find out the nightmares that others have had with them so I decide to call and feel them out. I try the first number listed and after going through the ACD I get disconnected 8 times when I try the customer service line, so I try a different approach, let me call the sales line. Whaddya know? I get right through to the same department without any problems! So, I ask the guy his name, Steven he says after a long pause, now here is where I screwed up. I tell him I placed an order last night and would like to verify that it's going through alright. He askes me the for the order information, which I give him, and while he's looking it up I tell him that I'm a bit concerned because of the inordinate amount of negative feedback I've read regarding their site and I would like.... " CLICK" Yes, he hung up on me. My next phone call is to my bank to stop the payment if it has been presented. Fortunately it hasn't yet so I'm still safe there, plus I used a card that I very rarely use anyway. I call BCP back and take a different approach, this time I say I placed an order but it turns out that I won't need it. "Bobby" verifies my information, cancels the order, says that I should expect a confirmation email (I never received the purchase confirmation) and gives me a cancellation confirmation number after I request it.
I'll just be keeping an eye on that card and hope that I nipped this potential fiasco in the bud. Thanks to everyone that posted beforehand about this very shady organization."
"I ordered on Monday 10th. Got email from Chris on Wendsday 12th, saying I needed to contact them. Its a DSLR lense not a lot to talk about. Well the price on the internet does not come with a mount?!! He asked if I wanted plastic mount or metal mount?! It would be an extra 150 i think. I was upset because I could tell it was a set up. I didnt pay attention to how much he said. I just said please cancel my order he said fine and humg up! DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! SCAMMMMM Very shaky business. Need to be shut down. Or with a smile, kick the crap out of them. :0)"
"I ordered a Nikon D40 package over the phone which totaled around $900. I canceled the order the same night and actually talked to someone who was very nice (surprisingly). He told me he canceled the order and would send me an email with the confirmation right away
The next morning I check my mail, and guess what? No email. I call them again, and talk to Ken (what an ass) and he tells me that the computers are slow and I have to be patient. Next day, no email. Day after that, no email. I call again and again and get no where.
Yesterday, the package arrives on my door... nothing I even ordered! Wrong package, wrong amount of money charged.
I call this morning asking for a return authorization number... wait on hold for 20 minutes... and finally get on the phone with someone from customer service. He tells me I need to confirm I was the one who ordered this package and that the conversation was being recorded and would be sent to their credit department. I confirmed the amount that would be credited back to my account and proceeded to ask for a return authorization number. He wouldn't give it to me and instead asked me "Where are you going to find a better price?" I asked what his name was and for the return authorization number and he gave me neither. I told him if he wouldn't give me that information, I would contact my attorney. He still wouldn't give me any information.
I have contacted the Better Business Bureau. Next step is the attorney.
Do not get involved with this company."
"This is a bait and switch operation that sells gray-market items. After the internet order is made, they want to "confirm" your order, which is no more than an opportunity for them to give a high-pressure sales pitch and get you to pay more. Their $849.00 5D is represented to be a polycarbonate housed item (that was never made by Canon) and for the regular price, they will "upgrade" you to the mag housing. A $28 shipping and fondling fee is added plus a 7% shipping charge. I managed to cancel my order before I got hosed."
"I ordered a Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM lens. The IS stands for "Image Stablizer". We'll return to this feature in moment.
The day after I placed my order I received a call from the infamous Chris. Initially he said he wanted to confirm my order, which he did.
He then asked what camera was I going to use the lens with. I told him it was for my Canon Digital Rebel XTi.
Chris said that the XTi had image stabilization built-in so I was wasting my money buying an IS lens. That sounds like good advice, except for one thing. Chris is wrong. The XTi does not have built-in IS.
Now Chris turned on the hard sell. He had a Sigma lens for me that "has better glass anyway" than the Canon lens.
No thanks, I said. I'll stick with the Canon lens. Then it was which haze filter did I want with my lens. No thanks, I said. Then lens is all I need. (I wonder if he was going to try and sell me the $70 haze filter or the $100 "multi-coated" haze filter.)
Undeterred, Chris pressed on. He had a nice lens pouch for me. No thanks, I said. The lens is all I need.
At this point I thought I'd gotten through to Chris. Not quite. Did I want a plastic or metal mount for my lens, Chris asked. (Despite the fact that the lens pictured on their Web site has a metal mount. Canon's metal mounts are silver and their plastic mounts are black.)
Please just send me the lens I ordered. That's all I want. Chris' rather loud reponse was, and this is a verbatim quote, "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! WHOA! What's with the hostility? I'm tryin' to give you a good deal here. What's your problem?"
Once again I told Chris, all I want is the lens I ordered. Please just send me what I ordered.
"OK, you'll have your lens in six to eight weeks." Click.
This must the "polite and friendly staff" you hear about from the recording they play for you while you're on hold waiting to cancel your order.
After my chat with Chris I decided to check up on BestPriceCameras.com. If you're reading this you know the result of that.
I called back the next day and after about ten minutes on hold I got through to customer service. The guy looked up my order, cancelled it for me (I told him I didn't want to wait six to eight weeks) and sent me a confirmation email. At least their customer service department was OK. Although the guy I spoke with was anything but personable. Maybe he's become jaded by a constant stream of cancellations and complaint.
I've been a B&H customer for years and should have realized the BPC deal had to be bogus. My lens shipped the next day from B&H. Oh, and I bought a Canon haze filter too, for ten bucks!
I was in my local Best Buy store today and happened to see my new lens in a display cabinet, for $699!
I had the photo guy take it out of the case for me so I could check it out. When I gave it back to him he asked what I thought. I said it was a nice lens, but $699 was a lot of clams. Without hesitating he said, "What if I dropped it $100?"
Gee, I never knew Best Buy was in the business of negotiating prices! I thanked him and said I'd have to check with "Santa".
I guess it's true what they say. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
I can hardly believe that BPC has a five star (the max) rating from over 5,000 customers on ShopCartUSA.com.
Based on my experience I would say stay away from BestPriceCameras.com.

"Total, absolute sleazebags. The WORST of the worst. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS OUTFIT! Do a Google search for the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in NYC and see all the complaints about them and all of their aliases. They don't carry any merchandise in stock. They will attempt to sell you "grey market" merchandise at a higher price. Their Customer Service is a total joke. They won't respond to emails. To cancel an order, you must call their Customer Service (it states this in their policies), but get this: THEY WON'T ANSWER THE CALL! You will be placed on indefinite hold. The minute you start talking about canelling, they will HANG UP ON YOU or place you back on hold and not pick-up (or switch you to an unnamed voice mailbox ("Hi, I'm not here -- leave a message and I'll get right back to you"). It doesn't matter which department you select from their automated voice mail answering greeting (Customer Service, Billing, Sales, etc.). They use Caller ID -- the second they know you are calling to cancel, complain, or ask about a status of an order (for something they don't really have), you are placed on a "blacklist" and all the agents see it on their screens -- YOUR CALL WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. I believe if you try calling from another phone immediately (but with the same area code) that number will also be "blacklisted (as will a Blocked number). The sites that give them good ratings are bogus. In response to "billyboy": ShopCartUSA lists several of the BPC's aliases as other good sites to purchase from. ShopCartUSA is based out of Brooklyn. BPC is based out of Brooklyn. Coincidence?!! "
"I placed an order with for a camera and accessories in the afternoon on 11/25. I had ordered it over the phone and something seemed not quite right so later that night I found this website and decided that I wanted to cancel my order based on the reviews. This is where the nightmare starts! I called the following morning as soon as their Customer Service lines opened to cancel my order. I was told that it was already processed and had been sent to shipping. They promised to try to cancel it before it was processed and said that I would get an email confirming the cancellation. I called them after four hours had passed and they forwarded me into someone's generic voicemail named "Steve." Steve never called so I called yet again and was told that my order had already shipped. Amazing that they were able to get that package shipped within 24 hours of the order being placed, especially when I didn't pay for express shipping! I finally received the shipping notification late the following day which shows that the order had NOT shipped until long after I had attempted to cancel. They told me to simply accept the package and call them for an RMA number and that I had to have one in order to return the package. I received the package and called Customer Service to get the RMA number as instructed. It took two attempts and over a half hour on hold along with talking to no fewer than four people to finally speak with someone that informed me that I would be receiving a form through email that I would have to resubmit in order to get an RMA number. Also, there is a 10% restocking fee and what worked out to be another 15% shipping fee which all came to more than $350!!! I told him that I refused to pay it considering there was no mention of such a fee anywhere on their site and that I indeed canceled the order prior to it being shipped. I reminded him that their hold music advertises that credit cards are not charged until the item ships. He was very insistant that everyone pays a restocking fee nad that I had no choice in the matter. They would process my credit less the restocking and shipping fee when the item was returned. My credit card company said that there is little that they can do as the charge went through as soon as I placed the order. Guess I just learned an expensive lesson! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! "
"This storefront is definitely shady. If you have been ripped off, take the time to report it to the New York Attorney General by filling out the form available at this website: http://www.oag.state.ny.us/complaints/html/comp_consumer.html. They may be able to help you out, and if enough people complain, maybe they will do something about this site. My experience was essentially the same as all the others described on this site. I placed an order online, only to receive an email followed by a phone call the next day stating I needed to confirm my order. Then I was asked whether I wanted "the six hour battery, or the nine hour battery." He told me the camera came with a battery, but it only lasted about 15 minutes. When I inquired about the price of the batteries, he gave me a couple of numbers, both over $150. Suspicious, I told "Vic" I would call back. He was unreachable 15 minutes later. The next day, I called again and waited on hold about half an hour to talk to "Mike." He told me my order was confirmed and again wanted to know if I wanted the 6 or 9 hour battery. I told him neither, and this time he said the camera came with NO battery. He then proceeded to try to sell me a battery charger, lens, and filters. When I said no to all of them, he told me that he'd sell me the camera, but it wouldn't work without all these things. I asked him what kind of product they were selling--if it was new, factory-sealed, etc. He told me it was "wholesale," which of course is a complete lie, since I'm sure Sony ships these things from their factory in a sealed box with all of these "optional" things included. At this point, I cancelled my order and did receive email confirmation of such within a few minutes. I have no idea where these products are coming from (China??), but I'm pretty sure they're not eligible for ANY kind of warranty. BUYER BEWARE!!!"
"BAIT and SWITCH alright. I did not make a purchase but was going to. Thanks to the information from this site, I was really leery and asked a lot of questions up front. Yes, they sell a brand new Canon EOS 40D body for $449. But, that is all you get. No manual, cables, battery, disks or warranty. I have sent Canon an email to make sure they are aware of this. "
"Ordered a Sony DCR DVD 408. Got an e-mail to confirm and the salesman tried to sell me other overpriced accessories. I said no then he rudely hung up. No camcorder for 4 weeks. I followed-up with a call (e-mails to the company did not get any response)to be told that it was on back order and won't be in for 4-6 weeks. I asked them why I was not told that initially when I ordered. They apologized but that didn't really do much. Waited again for another 4 weeks then I finally got "smart" and looked online for reviews and found this website. I called Best Price cameras again and they confirmed that it was still on backorder and I was lucky enough to be able to cancel it without being charged (which I hope is the case)for any fees. Stay away from this seller! "
"These people will rip you off for sure, do not buy any thing from them! I ordered a Nikon D80 camera package with two Nikon lens and accessories for $659.00 from them. Ken emailed me and called me saying I should upgrade to glass lens for crisper pictures and it would cost me $130 per lens of the two this made the order $919, when I got the order they had charged me $1289.00 and did not send what was described in the package, the only thing I got that was as described was the Nikon D80 camera, the lenses that came were cheep Tamron lenses which I checked around and sell for a little more than the $130 I was charged for "upgraded" glass Nikon lens I had been sold. When you check out the website does not give you a total and are told that all sale are not final until review by the sales department. They will then call you and try to up sell you things which you do not need and lie about the products, charge you more than they tell you it will be and then send you cheap crap. They also recommended uv filters for $60 and then sent cheep Merkury filters I found on amazon.com for $6.00, I am in the process of disputing the charge with my credit card company.
"
"I ordered a Canon G9 camera at the "In-stock" low price and received an "order confirmation". Got a call two days later to try and upsell me a bunch of additional stuff. They took "no" for an answer and that was that. Called 5-days later to check status and it was backorder until "we don't know when". However, if I were to order the "executive pack" then they could ship out the camera and pack today. I cancelled the order (or at least told them to cancel and they said "okay"). This is a total bait-and-switch outfit that offers no real service or integrity as a reseller. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!"
