"I ordered a Sony Bravia xbr 40 inch HDTV at a good price from Butterfly on Thursday afternoon. They shipped it out that day and I got it in Maryland by 10AM the next day. It came by DHL and was in perfect working order. Transaction could not have been easier."

"Ordered a RX-V2600 reciever through their website. I called an confirmed and inquired by delivery timeline based on their standard FEDEX delivery. I was told 4 days based on FEDEX chart but the unit will ship next morning.
I got a call from "Roy" and he aggressively suggested me to buy their extended warranty. After 15 minutes of telling him "NO", his tone changed and he literally hung up. He told me that it will be shipping will be between 7 to 10 days, to get it earlier I need to upgrade to FEDEX saver. I did upgrade but upon further inquiry, I was told that order is still being processed and not sure my estimate date of delivery.
Butterfly Photos seem to be a "shady" enterprise therefore I chose to cancel my order. I do not plan to do business with them again.

Also, I checked NY Better Business Bureau and NY BBB discourages doing business with them. Laslty, their credit card authorization is through DOD Marketing/Digital-ETailers. They seem like an out of the garage storefront.

"HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT! Beware! I purchased a digital camera from them and when it arrived it was defective. I called customer support and got a rude rude rude person (Daniel Brooks - He's infamous in these forums for being horrible! Check it out yourself). He contradicted the store's return policy, threatened to hang up, used offensive language and then basically tried to frustrate me into hanging up so they wouldn't have to deal with the problem. He even said "it's the manufacturer's problem, not ours". I WOULD NEVER BUY FROM THEM because of their customer support (and Daniel in particular). Beware.... They do not back their products. I purchased stuff from www.Techforless.com and they were fantastic to deal with! I recommend them instead if you're going to buy something over the web."

"Bought a Canon Rebel XT and got a follow up call to try to sell me an extended warranty and assorted accessories. It wasn't a hard sell, but the salesman did falsely claim the Canon warranty was only 90 days on labor. Even so, the item arrived the next day even though I didn't pay for overnight and the price was about the lowest I could find. I would do business with them again. "

" I was a bit hesitant ordering fom this company based on some of the review's I read on this web site. I had talked to Tom @ ext.242 several times and he tried talking me into a PV-GS300 when I was looking at the PV-GS500. He did not feel that the added cost features would be used by a consumer like me. I respected this.
After going to a local merchant and playing with both models, I decided on the 500.
I called the next day and ordered the camera. He did try to sell alot of upgrades, and I bought some of them. In the end I still ended upless than my local merchant. I payed the extra $8 for 3 day shipping as I wanted it for the holiday weekend.
The camera arrived on Friday as scheduled and it was everthing that he said it was. The only problem was that the filter kit I recieved was for a 37mm lens and mine was 43mm.
I called Tom and left a messange the following Wensday and left him a message about my problem with the filters. I did not hear anything back and had planned to call again the following Monday.
When I arrived home Friday after work, there was a package at my door with a new filter kit. I was shocked at the extreemly quick service.
I will close in saying in this day and age, it is a great felling to be completely satisfied with a purchase. I am forever a Butterfly Photo customer.

"This company has deceptive business practices. They advertised on the Internet the camera I wanted was in stock. The website states they ship in 24-48 hours. One week later they have not shipped, and twice they told me a truck would be in later. They sent me an email to call the company the next day after I ordered on the Internet about my order. They just tried to sell me additional equipment. When I declined Victor hung up on me. Since I made no other purchase they did not want to sell the camera at the advertised price. They continually asked me if I wanted to cancel my order which I did. After being told by Daniel that the camera was not in stock and the truck would be in later this week I called the company back acting as if I wanted to purchase the camera and Angelo assured me the camera was in stock. Again, this company has deceptive business practices. "

"Butterfly Photo is a bait and switch merchant. When I placed my order, I verfied multiple times if the item was In-stock. I was assured it was. When I didn't order any of the extra (overpriced) accessories they were pushing, my Order was then delayed. The salesperson couldn't commit to a shipping day. A few days later I called to check status, they stated the item I ordered was now Out of Stock (poor inventory control). They had charged my Credit Card on the date of Order (without shipping anything), and I am still waiting for them to process a Credit after canceling my Order. Do not purchase anything from Butterfly Photo!"

"I placed the order on 6/7/06 for a Sony HDR-H3 camcorder and read the overwhelming negative comments about this seller afterward. So I became concerned and called them the next day inquiring the status of my order. I was told everything was fine the order would be shipped that day. However, on the following day I got a voice mail from ANGELO asking me to call regarding my order. And I called back the same day and get his voicemail... so I left a message... Then repeatedly I receive emails read as below:

"I had placed an order of Canon Rebel XT (body only)online.Next day i get an email saying i have to contact someone about my order,so i call that guy and he starts pressurizing me to buy accessories which i declined and then he hung up on me.Now when i check the status of my order i see that my item is backordered,and they say it won't be available for a few days,so i went ahead and cancelled it."

"First of all, on the website, the camera had the following:

"Availability: Usually ship within 1-2 Business days."

I placed the order, on June 5th late at night.

I then received a couple of e-mails and a phone call over the next 3 days asking me to call a sales rep. Regarding my order. Thinking there was a problem, I called to only find out that they wanted to sell me some stuff and that there were 3 business days for processing. I was told that the camera would ship on the 9th. Today is the 12th and the order status still showed that the camera has not been shipped.

I called the sales rep. Who forwarded me to costumer service to only find out that they do not have the camera in stock and that it would be and additional 1 to 2 days before they ship the camera. I'm going on a trip in a few days and I simply cannot guarantee to be around when they decide to have it in stock and ship it .. so I canceled the order.

What a waste of time.

"I could not be happier with this company. I placed my order via the phone and they shipped the same day even though I used ground. It took three business days from them to me. Excellent pricing and great service. Would recommend, and use again. AND, only minor suggestions to purchase other items like memory for the camera I was buying. Not pushy at all."

"Very interesting purchasing experience: I order on May 26th and the Rebel XT kit shipped out May 30th (the next business day). It arrived yesterday on June 6th but the shipping box was tampered with, damaged, re-taped. The canon box inside was also torn apart and instead of a Rebel XT body, I found a Sony HC-3 MiniDV camera in my box. Could this be the exact one that a previous reviewer mentioned that was missing? I also called Butterfly they they filed a claim with FedEx (FedEx picked up the box the next day). I'll have to wait and see how this works out...

Well, when I called 6/8, was told it would be shipped Frday 6/9 or Monday 6/12. Waited til 6/12 before calling again. Called in the morning and CustServ said it will ship that day and I should get a email w/ tracking. I didn't get one so I called later in the day and was told it was not in stock and would not ship that day but to call again the next day to see if they got a new shipment from their distributor. Wanting the camera, I waited til next day. Called again, not in stock, cancelled. My credit card was credited the next day (was told 3-5 days, so that's good).

Summary:

Price: cheapest I've found - GOOD

Sales: aside from getting "the call", not a big issue, no hard sell (from my perpective) - OK

Shipping: shipped next biz day, arrived when expected - GOOD

Shipment: damaaged box, damaged product box, wrong product in box - BAD

Return: FedEx picked up next day after calling Butterfly - GOOD

Replacement: was back-ordered, after waiting 3 biz days, cancelled order. - BAD

Refund: credit card was credited next day 6/14) - GOOD

All stores, even the best will have some orders that go wrong. Mine just happened to go wrong. If you have issues, don't e-mail but call instead.
I had friends that bought from Butterfly and they didn't have issues but I did. I think Butterfly is ok if your order doesn't have any issues.

"I ordered a camera from another merchant, only to find that it was backordered and wouldn't be shipped before I headed on my vacation, which was the reason I bought the camera in the first place. I found that Butterfly Photo was only asking $5 more for the same camera kit, and after reading reviews here I decided to give them a try.

Thanks to the reviews here, I knew to skip the online ordering because I'd be asked to call them anyway, so I just ordered over the phone. I had to say "no" to the barrage of questions about if I wanted a lens filter, memory card, extended warranty, etc. - but again, I was prepared for this based on other people's experiences. After convincing the associate that I was speaking with that I wouldn't be needing anything other than what I had just ordered, the associate told me to have a nice day.

The camera was shipped out that day (I had ordered in the morning) and I received it a day early from FedEx. It was a brand new U.S. version of the camera, and works just great. And most importantly, I have a week before my vacation to play around with the camera.

Paying attention to the reviews here helped my ordering experience and prepared me so I knew what to expect, so I was very pleased with Butterfly Photo. I would order from them again.

"UPDATE ***

On Monday June 26th, exactly one month to the day I initially placed the order and MULTIPLE PHONECALLS to their claims department, the refund was placed on my American Express card by Butterfly Photo. I am not changing my sentiment because the entire experience was nuts.

I read the post about the guy who ordered a Rebel XT and received an HC3 instead...That was probably my camera but you can keep it! :)

Ordered a Sony HC-3 HD Video Camera...Price seemed great. $1199...this is what happened...

The shipping box contained a CANON POWERSHOT box that was in fact empty itself. The shipping box has been razorbladed down a corner, so it has been TAMPERED WITH or has been rigged to SHOW tamper. You could not tell about the tampering unless you unwrapped the tape. Then the box would just "unravel". Seems that it could have been shipped from Butterfly in this condition. I would surely hope not but I'm suspicious.

Needless to say I am furious but you get what you pay for. $1199 seemed a bit low to me, but it was a good price and resellerratings had DECENT reviews of Butterfly photo. Could be shills stuffing positive remarks.

SO I called Butterfly and they are starting a claim with FEDEX. I also called FEDEX and they said if I don't hear anything from the company within the next 5 business days, to call them and they would start a claim.

Then I called American Express. Talked to their claims department and they started a claim. They are actually going to contact Butterfly directly and then keep going from there.

So...inside the shipped box I received...

1) Empty Canon Powershot box.
2) Canon 16 meg SD card.
3) Canon shoulder strap.
4) USB cable.
5) Sony 512 Memory Stick

I ACTUALLY ordered:

1) Sony HC3.
2) Extra FP50 Battery.
3) Sony 512 Memory Stick

I got 1 out of 3. That's bad. Not even good enough for a Meatloaf ballad.

"Ordered Canon sd600. Received 2 emails asking me to contact PETER. I called peter (5/19) and found out that basically he wanted me to buy accessories. I told me I dont need one. He kept presuring me. I said No. Today got another email asking me to call PETER. I called customer service. She said the order has not been processed since Peter has not authorize it. She forwarded me to Peter. Left a message. What a pain...

Update:
Immediately after I filled this review, their Customer Service called me, apologized and processed my order. I received the package the next day (5/23), quite speedy.
