"I purchased a digital camera from Butterfly Photo and didn't receive any communication letting me know the product I ordered was on back order. After noticing that my camera had not been shipped after 2 days I called them to figure out what was going on. Once I found out it was on back order the sales person convinced me to go with a different camera which he said was in stock and told me he was going to ship it out that same day (Wednesday). They didn't end up shipping it out until the following Monday. To there credit, after calling them on Friday to figure out why it was not shipped on Wednesday (there was a warehouse shipping problem) they upgraded my shipping to 2-day shipping for free. After it was all over, I got my camera a few days later than I expected and the camera is great. I just wish I didn’t have to go through the hassle of calling them 3 times to figure out what was going on with my camera."
"I had great luck with this seller. On Sunday night I ordered my Panasonic FZ5 for $435 with free shipping (it was going for $500 most places). Monday morning I had an email and voicemail to call them. I called back and talked to Sam, who tried to sell me accessories, which I declined. (They are accessories I need but I purchased them somewhere else for a better price.) He gave me the sales pitch but when I said no, he said okay and to call them if I needed help with the camera. It was shipped via Fed Ex 2-day that day, and they emailed me the tracking number. I had my camera by Wednesday night, and everything seems to be in order. The camera works great."
"Order was placed on 4/5, then got multiple emails and phone calls asking me to call back at ext. 246. The csr Sam was rather pushy, after I refused to purchase any accessories, he agreed to ship the item immediately.
Their webiste provides absolutely no tracking information. So I called back today (4/14) for the order status, and was only shocked that they haven't been able to ship it, while my credit card was charged on 4/7!!!
They said they will ship it today or I can cancel the order without any apology, and of course, I went ahead and got it cancelled. Will never do business with these suckers."

"Ordered Fuji s5100 at best price from legit dealer on Tues at 8 PM got it Fri afternoon, 2 day air at ground price! I got the e-mail re card security number, but my internet down and I called late, said they found number from previous order and item was shipped. I was never asked to order anything else.
I've been recommending this company to friends, family and patients sincemy first experience with them in Dec. I just wish they sold cars:)

"Placed an order for Canon Optura 60 on 4/5. Got an email on 4/6 asking me to call. Had to go through a rather pushy sales pitch from Sam (ext 246), who was also not very friendly. I told Sam that we do not need any accessories. He then said the item will be shipped via USPS without tracking or insurance. After I hung up, I checked their shipping policy again, it clearly stated "All orders are shipped via FedEx, and when available, the tracking information will be emailed to you as soon as your product ships." Called back, our unfriendly Sam insisted that unless I paid $10 more, they will not ship my order via FedEx. My husband decided to pay the extra $10 in order to get the tracking. I, on the other hand, really hate to be lied to, called their customer service, talked to Daniel (ext 252). Told Daniel what was going on, he confirmed that all orders are shipped via FedEx and we must have misunderstood Sam (sure!). But, he did promise to credit the $10, ship our package via FedEx within the next 24 hours, and have a talk with Sam's manager. Well, I now hope we will receive our camcorder in good condition -- you just never know what will happen when you are marked as the "trouble makers".
Update: Received the camcorder via FedEx 2-day in good condition on 4/8. The packaging could be better -- not enough packing material. Also confirmed that the $10 shipping charge was refunded. We have not tested the camcorder yet."

"First time shopping for a camcorder, so I immediately gravitated towards the low-priced venders found via google. AMPhoto, Genius, Infinity, etc. Then I called Butterfly and was impressed. Yes, he tried to sell me a service policy, but heck why not? I said no, and he said fine. Paid for 3 day shipping, but they sent it 2nd day fedex. Overall a GREAT experience!"
"Placed purchase for Panasonic PV-GS150 and received the "dreaded" email asking me to call. Talked to a John at x210 who asked to verify my 3 digit number on back of credit card to verify I was card holder. The expected questions arose regarding battery life and digital card and also discussed comparison of digital still versus video. Explained the camera was for our Parks Department and that were also looking at one for our Admin Office and that was the end of the conversation. Polite, professional and respectful. I am a government procurement manager, so feel qualified to rate this firm (and sales rep) right now as very high.
3/30/05 - First 24 hours of the promised 48 hour shipping cycle after placement/verification of order: Order shows still "Being Processed"
3/31/05 - 3 hours shy of the promised 48 hr. shipping turnaround, I received my FedEX tracking number. So far- so good!
4/4/05 - Camera arrived via FedEx. Got caught in local terminal over weekend - not fault of Butterfly Photo! Stick to your guns regarding upgraddes, be polite and no problem - saving money too! Nice job Butterfly !"

"Purchased a Canon 20D/17-85 IS USM kit. Web site should use a confirmation page after entering address/payment info to allow users to check for typos/errors. Followup sales call was not too pushy, politely declined other sales pitches. Expected item in 10-14 days, received in 2 days (suspect low end shipping is always 2day). Item arrived with warranty card , however box look like it had been ripped up & repackaged (no shrinkwrap, but perhaps there isn't any to begin with). Camera/lens/accessories appears to be new (not refurb). Other than box issue, purchase was satisfactory."

UPDATE: It is now 1 week since I have made the purchase, and still it has not shipped. Not only that but I have called twice a day, and no answer. I have also tried emailing, and no response. "Ordered a Panasonic camcorder from Butterfly, first-ever from one of "those NYC places." Must say I am pleasantly surprised. Placed the order overnight on a Tuesday, called them on Wednesday to confirm order. They did sell me a set of filters for about half of what others online retail them for (no idea of how good a deal it was) and threw in 2-day shipping for nothing. Had camera on Friday. Well-packed, fast shipped. Spare battery DOA, but called and got return authorization quickly. Will see if they are as helpful on the malfunctioning battery. Would definitely order from again. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. But I was pleased with the deal they made me and their speedy processing. "

EVERY time i called, they assured me it SHOULD be shipped within the next few days and, because of the delay, they've upgraded shipping to "expedited". "Ordered by phone Nikon 8800, Charged to my credit card same day. Four days later no fedex number, no email confirming order,called every day to get fedex tracking number. Each time they kept saying ships out next day. Cannot check status of item because online status check requires your credit card information. You call and they won't give you a reason why it has not shipped. I thought the ratings where worth the risk obviously not. Very poor customer response. Called AMEX to put order in dispute. I would not recommend this store for this type of sales practice"
