"Bought the Panasonic PV-GS150 from Butterflyphoto.com and then found this site. Was worried about the mixed reviews but had a great experience with them. I did get the dreaded confirmation email and phone call from Chris (tried to sell me the wide angle lens and the extended warranty), but after declining both, he said my stuff would ship out immediately by Fed Ex 2 day (I had paid for the cheapest ground service -- 7-10 days). Very polite interaction - he wasn't pushy at all. So - got my camera a whole week earlier than I expected and the only problem is with the manufacturer (Panasonic) vs. the retailer -- discovered too late the dreaded 3-red line problem under low light conditions in this type of camera that other Panasonic GS150 users have also encountered. Read lots of review sites on this camera and just never stumbled on this problem until too late. Hopefully, the manufacturer will act responsibly and take care of this defect.

an update: had to take the satisfaction rating down a notch. Don't believe them when they say they will get back to you if you ever have a problem/question. They promise a 24 hour response time and so far, it's been 2 weeks with no response to my emails. Clearly they don't really care about customer support/loyalty after they make the sale which is too bad becuase I was going to buy something else and now I don't think I would buy from them again."
"I order a Samsung LN-R328W from Butterfly Photo. After 5 hours of broadcast the TV started changing colors on me. Most noticable is black turning red. And the rest of the other colors seems like you are watching from an infared scope. I tried calling Butterfly Photo and they directed me to Samsung. Samsung's only option is to dispatch a technician. Technician will only come out if i submit a picture of the SN# in the back of the TV and a copy of the PO statement. After days of following proper procedure, i'm unable to get any help or service. I called BP again and they gave me the run around. 5 hours of a new TV and the technician which is ordering parts told me that he as to replace the main board on the TV. not even a day and it's major surgery? I wish there is some method for customers who are experiencing similar issues like me. If i decide to sumbit a complaint to the Consumer Affairs when will they get to this??
5-10 years??"
"I ordered a digital camera online with butterflyphoto after calling and talking with a salesman in person. The process went smoothly and I thought all was ok. Then I tried checking on my order today only to find that butterflyphoto had no record of my order. When I called they said that the order number, I had written down when I completed the order, was not valid. Then I called my credit card company to see if I had been charged, and they said there was a charge from butterflyphoto for the amount of the camera I had ordered online. This is a scam. I wish I had read so many of the other reviews about this scam company. Do not do business with butterflyphoto unless you want to be scammed out of your money!"
"You're the man, Mike...I recently purchased a Powershot Pro1 through butterfly because they were the lowest priced on Reseller's site and a trusted recommended seller. After making my online purchase, I decided to check out customer comments on Reseller Ratings' site. I was somewhat chagrined at first because of several negative comments. It made me wonder why Reseller was recommending them. After calling Mike, he assured me my order would go out on Monday. I had called on a Friday morning. To my delight, I got an email confirmation that evening saying that the product was shipppd that day, and after tracking the package, it was delivered as promised, not in 7 to 10 days as I had arranged, but i got it on Tuesday!! It was double-boxed and factory new. Purhaps some of the negative reviews are being written by less than honest reviewers, if you catch my drift. I will be calling Mike when I step up to the Canon 20D or Sigma D10(11?) dSLR sometime next year. Thanks Mike. "
"DO NOT BUY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!
I was charged on June 20th 2005 and as of August August 02, I still haven't receive the LCD TV I ordered nor the refund from them. Save yourself some time, go somewhere else!~~~"
"I chose Butterflyphoto.com to buy my digital video camera recently as they were the cheapest in the bunch. Their rating looked ok. The axiom you get what you pay for rings true here. I'll give the whole shaggy story, in case it prevents someone else from having to go through similar hassles.
After I placed my order, the salesman called and tried to sell me an extra accessory package. I kept declining until he tossed in a bunch more stuff and then free shipping. When I got the camera, not only had I been charged for shipping, but I had been Overcharged $100. I called customer service and they reimbursed me for the overcharge. The salesguy gave me a lame excuse for being charged for the shipping--he said I was only charged regular shipping, but he gave me free express shipping. It was a small amount so I didn't choose to quibble. Then I checked the accessories that I had been convinced to buy (included 2 lenses) and found that they were the wrong size for the camera lens (!) I called and they said there should be an attachment. There was none. I thought about returning the whole darn accessory package, but they were going to charge me 10% AND shipping costs. I asked several times for a compensation. I kept getting a run around, like "we already reimbursed you $100." I tried to explain that the logic of them paying me back an overcharge they made in error to begin with is not exactly a compensation for all the problems. I have tried to reach a supervisor--so far two messages out with no word back from him. I would never trust these guys, if I were you."
"Great pricing. Decent customer service.
I ordered a 50" Sony LCD projection TV from ButterflyPhoto. Their on-line price was very competitive and their TV shipping charge was reasonable.
I did receive a phone call from the customer service group to confirm the order and was offered cables, extended warranty, etc. I initially refused the warranty and cable and told them just to ship the TV.
However, after doing some more on-line research on TV warranties and bulb-replacement plans, I decided to add the 3-yr extended warranty (decent price via RepairTech).
My only issue was that I was told the TV shipping would be upgraded to Fed-Ex group...but the TV was actually delivered by another freight carrier (total shipping time was 10-days)... The TV arrived in perfect condition and the shipper even helped me get the TV into the house.
No complaints. Great pricing, accurate ordering."
"I read many of the reviews here before actually going to purchase with butterfly. They had the best price around and thought I would take a chance. I wasn't let down. The ordering my Canon 95 was simple and quick. Delivery took a little longer then expected but i guess that was on fed-ex's part. A sales rep did contact me to confirm my other and then, politely, to tried to sell me a larger SD card, a set of rechargeable batteries, charger and carrying case. I refused politely and that was the end of that."
"I'm please with the the store's service. Great service.
I ordered a Sony Camcorder PC1000 on Sunday. They have the lowest price (914.00). I received an email to call to confirm the order on Monday. I called Justin and was asked to buy accessories which I declined. I asked whether he can express shipping the camcorder because my trip started the following Friday. He said he cannot warranty the item will arrive on time. I received the camcorder on Thurday 2nd day fedex without additional shipping charge.
I had a wonderful trip with wonderful video and images.

"Horrible company! I ordered a projector from them Monday (7/18) and had to call back Tuesday to confirm order and listen to sales pitch for accessories. Apparently they didn't make a note of it since the same guy (Marc) called me back on Thursday when I promptly told him again to just send the projector. On Friday the order status showed it still "processing" so I called and left a message and also sent an e-mail. Apparently they didn't get these since the same guy (Marc) called a third time (Mon 7/25) trying to sell the same accessories. At that time I was worried that the projector wouldn't arrive before a 2-week trip but was assured that a signature wouldn't be required on deliver. On Tues (7/26) I called to cancel the whole order but they sent it out that day, and again assured me a signature wouldn't be required. First through third delivery attempts (FedEx Ground) were made while I was away, Wed-Fri (Aug3-5), since a signature was required on delivery. FedEx held the item and I had to drive 25 miles to pick it up at their facility when I returned (Aug15). The package was fine and everything was there in new condition. My experience with Butterfly Photo was terrible though. I don't recommend buying from them. The rating for them on ResellerRating is higher than it should be, probably because they've put people up to inflating it!!! However, I guess if you want a bunch of calls and to have to wait 8+ days before they send out your order, it might be worth it."
"Not shipped when promised. Rude customer service.
Waste of time!"
"I ordered the Canon Rebel XT online on Saturday July 16th. I called them on Monday morning the 18th to confirm the order. They said they had recieved it and it was processing. They do not process orders over the weekend.
Monday afternoon I get an email from them asking me to give them a call. I called and they double checked whether I placed the order. They asked if I needed an extra battery or a memory card. After saying no, he said Ok, your order will ship in the morning.
Thursday morning the 21st I get the camera, it's brand new, unopened, and the packaging is excellent.
Would I order from then again. Most definatly."
"I purchased a Panasonic PV-GS250 camcorder based on an attractive price and immediate availability. 3 days later I received an e-mail from one one of the salespeople asking me to call them regarding the order. I called immediately and left a message. I didn't hear back so I called again the next day and was told that the order should ship that day or the next. 2 days after that I still hadn't received an e-mail confirming the shipment, so I called again. I was again told that the order was being picked and should ship that day. By the following day I still hadn't received a shipment notice so I called and was told that the order was being delayed because their inventory of GS-250's had to be sent back to Panasonic. Not once did anyone contact me to let me know what was going on."
"Customer service did not pick up the phone and I was waiting at least 20 mins per phone call. They do have a bad attitude. I will not suggest people to buy from them."
"My assessment can best be made by comparison. I purchased online two Casio EX-Z750 cameras, two camera neck chains and two Casio batteries as one shipment to the same address from Butterfly Photo, but was charged for two separate shipments. DigitalFotoClub charged me nothing for shipment of my Nikon D50. The Butterfly shipping time is 7 to 10 business days for ground service whereas DigitalFoto shipped UPS ground service and delivery was made in four days. The Butterfly tracking system is also inferior, slow to show status and very little information. I tried twice to email Support for clarification of the status of my order but my emails were returned with the message that “the user mailbox is exceeded”. Emails to the Sales department inquiring about my order were met with stony silence. At the time I was in Italy, so I had to make three expensive international calls to Support to get information because US 800 numbers called from abroad are chargeable at normal overseas long distance rates. Once on the telephone their sales reps are brusque to the point of rudeness and their promised shipment dates turn out to be sheer fiction.
This first experience with Butterfly has been totally unsatisfactory and under the circumstances, I would not recommend it to anyone. I chose it because of an advantageous price differential but it is simply not worth the appallingly bad customer service.
