"I would not recommend this retailer. I spent a long time on-line searching for a cheap price for a new Sharp LCD television. Cameraaddict had some of the best prices on many models. Their website is deceiving, however, as their televisions (unlike most other merchants) do not come with the pedestal stands that they are pictured with.
However, their prices are so low, that even after adding the pedestal stand, they still seemed to have the best price by approximately $60. However, after the surprise of shipping, the merchant's price is higher than the carry out price on the item with extended care warranty at a nearby Best Buy.
My problem with this company stems from the fact that the price I was quoted by their sales representative was $120 less than the value charge to my credit card. I was deliberately misled about the "total" charge. I called twice to ask what the total charge would be, since the invoice was not sent to my email address. Both times the operator gave me the "nontaxable subtotal" as its referred to on my invoice. The amount under "total" on my invoice was not quoted to me. In addition, the Four year warranty that I purchased turns out to only be three years. Consequently, I am disputing a fraudulent charge on my credit card.
Think twice before considering a purchase from this merchant. Make sure that you have an invoice in hand before agreeing to ship an item.
Regarding the return; I refused delivery of the item from the carrier. I am planning on refusing to pay for shipping charges, as the item I purchased ($1899 television) is not sold by this retailer. We will have to see how that goes with the help of my credit card company."
"I did my research before purchasing from this store. I read many of the Broadwayphoto or Bwayphoto reviews. I looked them up on the BBB website which confirms they are in fact owned by bwayphoto. Several other online stores are also operated by the same company.
I wanted a camera that has been discontinued and not available anywhere else; the Canon Optura 50.
They have them on the website for under $300. I decided to take a chance. I decided to circumvent getting an email asking me to call and confirm the purchase which seems to be followed by aggressive sales of overpriced accessories I do not need, at least according to hundreds of other buyers at bwayphoto's reseller ratings. I called to make my purchase, but I asked if the camera on the site was Japanese and, not surprisingly, it is. It says nothing about that on the web site, of course. They do not have the USA model listed on the site, so I ask if they have them. The answer is yes, they do, they are $349, about $70 bucks more than the Japanese model listed. I decided to wait, and called back the next day, the price changed to $399 but they let me have it for $349 after a little haggling. I then order the camera and expected the sales pitch for batteries and tapes, etc. I told the salesman I am replacing a camera and have all the accessories I need from the previous camera, which is true. That was it, no other pressure to buy. They charge $25 for shipping and handling, which is pricey, but it cost me $24 to send it back with insurance and signature confirmation, so maybe they aren't overcharging after all.
The camera didn't work, but they sent me another one as soon as they got mine back. They shipped the new one at no additional charge and this one works fine.
The factory warranty is not valid here, I called Canon, they only honor refurbished warranties if the device is sold directly through Canon. I brought this up to Cameraddict and they told me I would have a 90 warranty with them, which is the same length as canons.
I plan to buy a Mack warranty.
If I had gotten a good camera the first time, I would have very little to complain about, except the website IS misleading, but I went in knowing that. The camera does not come with a SD memory card, which the website shows as an included accessory. It would be useless to me at 16MB, when I can get a 1GB for $10.00 from microcenter.
My dealings on the phone with Cameraddict were perfectly normal. I might actually buy from them again, but I would like it better if the web site wasn't so deceptive. I did all my business on the phone, they do not have my email address, which I think is a better way to do business with them if you want to take a chance."
"This company is a total scam. I ordered my camera via overnight shipping and it showed up 2 weeks later. Once I got the camera it was defective. I had to pay shipping again to return it. Once the company got the camera back, they gave me the runaround for another 2 weeks. I finally disputed this charge with my bank. (THANKS WACHOVIA!!!)I find it interesting that they shipped out a new camera the same day my bank gave me my money back. Once the new camera got there I refused the delivery... I had enough of this over the course of a month with hours and hours on the phone with camera addict... read what the BBB says about them and the other companies they operate under... http://www.newyork.bbb.org/reports/businessreports.aspx?id=68047"
"Do not use this store unless you have in writing what you ordered and cost. I ordered a Canon camera with a real good price. I ordered some accessories and they switch products and changed the invoice so items were not listed individually. "

When I called they provided false info (like camera has Japanese only menu, need new battery right away, etc. and started to push new price on me for the "product for US market". when I resisted $60 price hike I was offered the same for just $30. I asked for confirmation E-mail, so I have "new" offer in writing, instead my order was canceled (and it's fine with me I'll never buy anything there!).
Compare to this e-bay is rock solid place to shop!"
"I was looking for the Tamron 17-50 mm lens for my Minolta 7D. After doing some online price search, I found that most of the retailers sell it for around $450, but Camera Addict's price was $307 for a grey market model, which is more than 30% off. Not believing if the price/stock is legit, I called and talked to a sales. He told me he has the lens in stock and suggested my to get the UV filter and 6 year warranty for a discounted $100. I asked if I can order online, he said yes but I wont be able to get the 'discounted' price for the accessories. I hung up, gave it a thought, and decided to place the order online just for the lens with $24 for 2nd day shipping. The next day I called them to check the status, and was told the order was processed and will be shipped out the same day. I was having a little hard time believing it. Later on that day I received an email with tracking number. Two days later I received the lens in new packaging(made for Japanese market, but I have no problem with). Spent the weekend test the lens with fast accurate focus and very satisfied results.
I think I got an unbelievable good deal from Camera Addict. The processing is fast and shipping is ontime. I can't speak for other people's experience from Camera Addict. Am I going to buy from Camera Addict again? With 30% cheaper from competitors and fast delivery, you bet I will.

"The purchase of a Pentax Optio W20 waterproof camera for $183.00 seemed to go very smoothly, until the company sales department called my wife to hard sell options to go along with the along with the camera. When she wouldn't give in to the hard sell, the sales rep then told her that the "offered" price in the on-line add was for a "Japanese Version" of the camera, and that our price would now be $225.00! This is an obvious "Bait and switch" operation, and these people cannot be trusted. I cancelled my order and will carefully watch for any attempts to misuse the credit card information I gave them ."
"Rip off artists! I ordered a Canon 30D camera from them, and they sent me an email asking me to call in and confirm the order. Upon calling, the sales rep Jessie asked, "Why did you order the international model? The menus are in Japanese." He then informed me that I had somehow agreed to some sort of terms and conditions stating that all their cameras are international models and that I would have to pay $200 extra for the US model. First, you "agree" to their terms when you place an order via a check box that's checked by default and easily missed. Second, I read every word of the terms, and there's nothing in there stating that their cameras are "international" models. Third, the product page itself on their web site says nothing about the camera being an import. Fourth, all Canon 30D cameras have multiple language menus. Even if the unit in question defaulted to Japanese, it would be a simple matter to change it back to English. When I informed the rep that I didn't see anything about "international models" on the web site, he immediately got very hostile and accused me of "trying to make a joke out of him." I didn't give in to his bullying and canceled the order."
"I received an email after I ordered saying that I should call to verify my order. When I did, they tried to sell me more stuff, which I did not want and did not buy.
I then received a call saying that there was a problem with my account. When I called they told me that the address was not on record with my credit card company. They gave me a number to call. That number was not a valid number.
I called my credit card company who called them and they were told that the address was OK.
The next day I got an email saying that the order was canceled because it was on back order but that I could buy a different model.
I have had this same problem before and this is an indication that their price is a phony."
