Absolute worst company I’ve ever dealt with!

"I normally only like to leave good reviews, cause I get people have bad days, or companies have glitches, but I can’t let people rent from this company without a fair warning! ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH! I paid extra for an SUV and then I’m told at the counter, in Mexico that they sold out of SUVs and only have small cars available. Also told the “insurance” I purchased through rentalcars.com doesn’t actually work as insurance for the car your renting. . . You still have to put down a multiple thousand dollar deposit once you get to the rental company which is what we had to do, put down $2800 dollars, not pesos. Tried calling rentalcars.com on multiple different lines with no success about the insurance, deposit and them not having an suv for me which I paid extra for. Lines either weren’t active or after prompting through everything it would immediately hang up on me. Accepted the car cause we had no other option, it was getting late and we still had 3 hours to drive. When we returned it days later the rental company then tried charging us extra money for insurance. Yes that’s right! We already paid for the car and insurance through rentalcars.com, as well as $2800 dollars deposit which is refundable if no damages, then we get back and they try charging us $200 for their insurance??? Luckily we spoke to the manager on site and he waived the money they tried charging us. Also the car we got was a real POS!!! Trunk lining was falling off, I had to fix it anytime I opened the trunk, the car had scratches ALL down the sides with dents and chunks of paint missing from it! This entire company is a complete joke! Pay the extra few dollars and book direct through a rental company! I would have rather walked the hundreds of miles we drove than deal with this company! Book at your own risk and at the expense of your check book!"

If I Could Give Them Zero Stars, I Would

"carrentals.com misbooked my reservation for the wrong month. I prepaid and went to pickup my car and was told that my reservation was not for that day. Upon contacting them for support in resolving the issue, I was told that my reservation could not be modified or cancelled BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR IT!!! I will not need a rental car one month from now. I won't even be in the country the rental was booked in any more at that time. They are keeping my nearly $200 and refuse to help me resolve the issue. They are crooks. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. This was booked in conjunction with Dollar Rent A Car who also refused to cancel or modify the booking and would not refund the money. They are losing the business of myself, my family and my friends forever. There are too many other options out there for this to operate a business in this manner and expect to receive repeat business."

They Rented Me a Car That Was Impossible to Pick up

"They rented me a car from a company that only rented cars to people who had just flown. They didnt ask me for my boarding pass yet still let me rent. The rental company itself does not let you rent without a flight ticket number.

I politely asked for a refund immediately. And was repeatedly declined. They shouldn't have rented me the car.

Terrible experience – do not bother!! Absolute scam artists!!

"Rentalcars.com is a second party provider who just take your money, they do not care about customer satisfaction nor reveal all conditions until after you have already made payment. Be warned that they state cancellation is free, it is not free!!!
I booked a car using the app and not until I paid was it revealed that you must catch a shuttle bus after waiting half an hour, then travel 20 min to your car. When I arrived, I was expected to provide a $1000 deposit for a one day hire which would take “minimum” 28 days to be reimbursed, Carrentals.com did not advertise this at all. I missed an important meeting that day, the sole purpose of my trip.
Their ‘customer service’ is delivered in the form of copy & pasted responses via email with no possibility to speak to a person to resolve complaints.
Save your money and time, don’t use Rentalcars.com

SCAM - DO NOT BOOK HERE

"This is the worst company to use for car rental. I recently booked my reservation in Jan 2020 for June 2020. it was supposed to be for 3 weeks. Things change due to illness and I needed to change my reservation, and I have been struggling to change or cancel. There is no phone number to call and they keep emailing whenever they like. It has been my worst experience. They don't let you cancel the reservation and keep making excuses. They told me to book another reservation and then they will cancel the first one. Still they did not and now I am tied with two reservations. I have been charged twice. It is very frustrating."

Tricksters Out To Get Your Money

"I reserved a car at Fox at San Francisco Airport. I realized I was going to be late and called them to ask what I needed to do to change my arrival time. They said there was no need to do anything, that my reservation would be in place. I showed up before the three hour window, but there was a long line and three people at the counter were all having long, difficult conversations with the clerks, mainly over the pricing. By the time I got to the counter it was past the three hour grace period so the contract was cancelled. I explained I was here within the time frame, but that I'd been in line over 30 minutes. They did not care. They offered to issue me a new contract at a much HIGHER rate. I tried to reason with them to no avail. They kept telling me it was my fault and practically called me a liar about calling in to ask what I needed to do to keep my contract. Another customer took me aside and said she was appalled at their treatment of me. She also said that twice she told them she did not want insurance coverage and TWICE they plugged it in to her contract. This is a slimy, unethical company. I then went to Hertz."

A fraud.

"A fraud, is nothing more than a comparator who tries to do business by insuring the cars of the companies agendas that you still do not have and if in the end you can not go for it, they will hardly refund your money because you have to notify 24 hours before and on the weekend That is when more people itch do not serve the customer. I get the impression that many of the positive opinions have put them themselves ..."

SCAM SCAM SCAM - I never even rented a car, they just sucked money from my account

"Be prepared for several hidden fees! They’ll say they’ll have a car for $10 a day, then insurance per day is double the price, the taxes are again double the cost, then you take an expensive Uber to the airport and you have to have a credit card with $500 open for a mandatory security deposit so you can rent a $10 car. HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!! I never got to rent the car and they offer no cancellation or refund. They literally just sucked a got amount of money from my bank account."

Horrible service, mis quoted from customer service and lied to by manager

"I called Carrentals.com on Saturday Nov 30th to rent a car and spoke with a Gabriel who then quoted me at 260$ tax in via Dollar Car rental. He said to just show up there and the car will be ready. I asked him at least 2 times if the price was really 260$ everything included. He said yes. Upon my arrival at Dollar, the rep says that Carrentals quoted me at 286.85$ (showed me it on his screen). He gave me his lowest price at 266$.

Later I called Csrrentals and asked to get a refund as I was quoted 260$ and asked for 30$ as a good will gesture for wasting my time. The manager Luis called me and upon listing to the call, he said Gabriel did indeed misquote me at 286$ At first he agreed to send out a credit of 30$ upon me submitting my receipt from Dollar car rental. After sending Luis my receipt, he calls me back to say he cannot refund me since I booked directly from Dollar and not with Carrentals. I told him that he knew this already as was the reason why I had to book with Dollar due to the misquote. He did not want to accept the fact that it was their mistake to begin with and he lied to me by telling me he would send out the credit and the next day change his mind. Very frustrating and this guy has bad judgement.

Very unprofessional and horrible staff! Bad 3rd party car rental company! They clearly lie to get you to book only to charge you more..don't waste your time as there are many more sites who have a better rep!

Attention Customers

"Attention customers,
Had to cancel my Booking with carrentals.com at the location they suggested me to pick up the car.
The lady at the front desk said that cancellation its been processed and the money will be returned on my account.
Called local company also carrentals.com and they suggest to submit online claim.
Submitted an online claim and got an email from carrentals.com that cancellation its been processed and approved but the cancellation fee was the exact amount of money they took as down payment from me.
Called local company and they said that no money has never been taken from them.
Very Dissapointed from the carrentals.com

Rip Off

"STAY AWAY, I rented a car on this website $193, I got to the counter for pick up, mandatory insurance 200 for five days, plus $200 deposit plus $20 credit card fee, plus other fees and taxes that you never heard of, so basically they give you cheap prices, and they catch you on the counter, I called carrentals.com, he was reading what he has to say because it seems it's very common NO REFUND, THEY JUST RIP YOU OFF $193, THAT SHOULD'VE GONE FOOD TO YOUR KIDS"

Pure Scammery

"They "reserved" a car for me in the LAX area. When I got to the rental Kiosk (USave Rentals), their version of events didn't match what I had paid for online. When I contacted Carrentals for a refund, they said it's not possible because they "reserved a car for me." Since I didn't even get the car, I don't see how they should get to keep my money. I filed a dispute with my credit card firm."

Charged twice, received an inferior car, no support

"I reserved a "Pay at the Counter" car and noticed I was charged at the day of the reservation. Carrentals said they don't know what the charge is about, refused to refund me, and told me to talk to the car supplier.

When I arrived to pick up the car, the supplier said they don't see the previous charge either and demanded I pay again for the car. I did, under the assumption it'll get sorted out later. Then the supplier provided me with a very low-end manual transmission car, while I ordered a high-end automatic car. I contacted Carrentals to resolve the issue but they did nothing and I ended up having to use that car during my whole vacation, which was a nightmare.

Before even picking up the car, I sensed something was wrong and asked Carrentals to double-check everything's ok with the reservation and that I will be receiving the exact car I ordered, and they confirmed I will. Apparently they didn't.

After my vacation, I contacted Carrentals numerous times and haven't been able to get a refund for my double charge nor for the fact I received an inferior, barely-driveable manual car. They simply don't care.

"Zoom Car Rental Service is misleading to the customer and asks more than the advertised price at the time of pickup in the name of additional price as a special insurance cost even after I had the collision coverage. The car company never disclose the asking price on their website or never show up while booking the car online.

SCAM PRICE

"When we created the booking, the details said "UNLIMITED MILEAGE" in ALL CAPS and BOLD font. However, we were contacted AFTER IT WAS TOO LATE TO BE REFUNDED that we would have to PAY for ADDITIONAL MILEAGE per day if we planned to leave the city we rented in. When I asked why we weren't notified, we were told it was "under a link" that WASN'T EVEN INCLUDED IN THE EMAIL. Your listings are FALSE ADVERTISEMENTS and I ended up paying THREE TIMES MORE than what other car rental places offered. Paid $360 for a rental just to travel to Austin, Texas, and back. A private jet ride would've been cheaper. "
