"Made reservation for two passenger van specifically Opel Vivaro since there were 14 of us and lots of luggages. Avis declined my hard copy of the reservation which clearly had the pic of Opel Vivaro and explained in two areas of the reservation “Opel Vivaro or similar” and offered us Opel Zefir which was much smaller 7 passenger suv. Since we could not fit in them with our luggages we insisted on Open Vivaro but they declined and said we need to contact carrental.com with our issue. Finally we were forced to pay additional 150 Euro per day to upgrade one of the cars to what it was supposed to be. Send email to carrental.com and they claim the reservation was for Smaller Opel Zefir and when I sent them the hard copy proof of my reservation for bigger Opel Vivaro there were no response. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE IN YOUR RESERVATION WITH CARRENTAL.COM OR YOU WILL PAY DEARLY AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. They are scammers who will tell you anything you like to hear but after the sale there is not even a phone number you can call them

"May 13 i got a booking for July 21 to july 30. After booking i found out it is repaid for july 26 to july 29. I contacted them 20 times to work out with them to solve the problems but they still get my money for not refund me. They know i cannot use my booking but they still collect me money. What a rob! "Found a nice car for good price for 14 days, month after i ordered the car i get a mail that the car has been canceled because the system didn't register a letter in my name. No mail to change the letters or anything to let me know there is a problem, just one letter that the car has been canceled, when I call them they don't want to do anything to help other than rent me the same car for 4 times the amount. "BUYER BEWARE !!!! You cannot trust reservations made on this site. I made reservations 2 months in advance for a 12 passenger van for a family trip. A few days later, I called the pickup location to ask if they could give us a 9 passenger van instead of a 12 passenger van. Imagine my shock when they told me that what I had booked through carrentals.com was a 5 passenger car (Mazda 5). I shared the screen capture and reservation email details with carrentals.com customer service that showed booking for a 12 passenger van.
I was told that they would check with provider and because this was their error, they would find me a new reservation and provide it at the same cost as my original booking.
I remember thinking WOW ! what good customer service!
Boy was I wrong!
When I called back to follow up I was told to wait as they needed to investigate further. The stories kept changing. Ultimately after a month of chasing I was told that they were unable to make a reservation for me nor give me a credit for the difference in current booking costs (because prices had increased in the month).
The final ultimate kick in the mouth was when their customer service team sent me an excerpt of their boilerplate T&C and basically said they weren't responsible for any mistakes and that I was on my own.
I shudder to think about the disaster I'd have walked into on the first day of my vacation if I had not discovered their screw-up by accident.
Stay away from their platform if you want to be confident about your car rental reservation.

"I would leave a 0 star if I could. This company (carrentals.com) are scammers, liars, provide no customer support, and ultimately in the end cost me money with providing me no service what so ever.
Here are the details:
1: They booked me a car an hour drive away that showed to be available. My total was $88 for two days.
2: I am instantly charged $27 for their third party insurance.
3: I PAY $80 to get to the pickup location; an hour away, and surprise the car is not available.
4: I call carrentals.com to tell them what happen and they said we are sorry we can find you an other one.
5: They find the same freaking car, that doesn't exist, at the same place, that has 0 cars available. They tell me to go there. I literally ask "are you telling me to go back to the exact same place, that had 0 cars available, for the exact same car I just didn't get?" She said yes. They literally found the same broken deal on the website I found and told me to do it all over again.
6: I spend 15 min on the phone with the lady as she searched for an other car. She found 1 car, across town, for $180 total, $100 more then my original statement, after I have already paid $80 + $27.
7: I ask to cancel everything and for my $27 back. They said sure, right after this phone call you will receive a cancellation / refund email. That NEVER ever ever happened. They didn't even attempt to refund it.
8: I ask to speak to a supervisor, they said he was super busy and will call me back in an hour and a half. This also never happens
9: I had to manually call their hired third party insurance company to cancel it myself without carrentals.com's help after they told me they did it and the confirmation of the cancellation was coming to my email.
10: Oh yeah, at one point during this phone call the lady suggested I try going back to the website and doing it all over again.
Absolute nightmare. Horrible customer support. Scamming tactics in the sense they get third party companies sells so they get a piece of the pie for that, then don't help with those cancellations when requested.

"CarRentals.com is terrible. I agree with some of the reviewers below - they can be useful to see what's available, but they don't back up their reservations. I rented from them with Payless as the rental car company (I will never rent from Payless again). I reserved a car at $500, but when I went to pick up my car, they didn't have one in that size. I could wait an unknown time until that size was returned or take a larger car for $670. I didn't have much choice and took the larger car. CarRentals didn't go to bat for me, so the reservation I had was effectively useless. I would recommend going with the more established, and yes, more expensive, companies--strangely enough, you might end up saving money if you do."

"Carrentals.com has advertisements that state unlimited mileage but when I went to pick up the car they only allow 250 miles because I'm a local renter. Very misleading information and wouldn't do anything to help. NO Support from there customer service and wouldn't do anything to help me. "
"On 12/28 I reserved a rental car from Knoxville to New Orleans for 50$. When I arrived at the airport, I was told no such car exists. No big deal, sometimes miscommunication happens. I called the service line and was told that "availability is not guaranteed". What do you mean? You only sell car reservations. If you don't guarantee availability what exactly are you good for? I rented a car because I needed it. I was very stressed out and unhappy.
Ultimately, he told me to rent whatever car I could find and they'd refund the difference. I rented another car for 270$. I emailed Carrentals 3 times in January about my refund. The final reply I got stated that Carrentals never offered me a refund and that availability is not guaranteed. Unfortunately for them, I do have the resources to take legal action.
Mix ups happen but it is your duty to make it right, not mine to miss out on 200$. "
"Rented a car through this site, but the vehicle pick-up location was an hour drive away from the airport. The pick-up location changed during check-out and I didn't think to check if it would change, there was no allowance to change back to the requested pick-up location due to a web hiccup, and the rental agency couldn't do anything because the contract is on lock-down if you go through carrentals.com instead of them. If you use carrentals.com you are stuck because they don't allow changes, transfers, or cancellations and the car rental agency can't make changes due to contractual obligations to carrentals.com. It's a lose-lose proposition to use carrentals.com. "
"I went online and the ad stated $17/day for an Altima, I booked the car and was charged $67.79 when I went to pickup the car at Green Motion they said it was required to buy liability insurance and charged me another $121.12 so the actual daily rental fee was $47.23/day. I had to take a shuttle 10 minutes to pickup the car and drop it off and be re-shuttled back. This was such an inconvenience and I gotten ripped off. There is no full disclosure on the actual rate. So CAR RENTER BEWARE !!!"

When I've arrived there, a guy in a car rental told me that he doesn't have any cars even though he has 10 more confirmed reservations, so I had to take another much more expensive car in the other rental. But the worst part was the week later, when I've got a no show fee from carrentals.com which was twice bigger than I even had to pay for the rent.
