"I do not recommend buying from this company because they are unreliable and due to their lack of customer service.
1) It took them 3 times to get my order right. The first person didn’t enter my credit card verification number and my order sat on hold for several days and nobody contacted me. Finally I called in and found out what happened and provided the CVN. After another few days passed, they called me again to tell me they didn’t have my CVN and they asked me more questions because I wanted the item shipped somewhere other than my billing address. Another few days passed and finally the item was PICKED UP 1 WEEK AFTER IT WAS ORDERED.
2) Comparemaster.com reps are uninformed and will lead you on to make a sale. They advertise international shipping on the website, yet they know nothing about it. I had my item shipped to Canada. It was my first time ordering something from US so I asked them if I would have to pay any additional import fees. No, just the $10.45 S&H the girl assured me – Yes when I asked if she was certain. Of course the day before the item was to delivered I called UPS and was told I would be charged $111, 30% of the value of the item! Outraged, I called comparemaster again and the same girl said she didn’t know why I was being charged. Her manager there conceded the CSR was incorrect and told me to call order escalation a few days later (apparently they’re only open 1 day a week) and that they could reimburse the brokerage fees. The UPS delivery man advised me not to reject the package because customers often never see their money again. So I called order escalation a few days later and spoke to a general manager, who basically told me “tough luck”.
Clearly comparemaster doesn’t place any value on words."

"I ordered this on MONDAY, March 12, 2007 for OVERNIGHT shipping and did not receive this until THURSDAY, March 15, 2007. Why do I have to pay $58.00 for overnight shipping that took 3 days to get to me?"
"Well, if you really want to know... I placed my order on 2/18/07. The site advertises 1 day shipping and an email confirmation once the order is shipped. A week passed and no email. Another week passed and no email. I emailed customer service and never received a reply. I spoke with a CSR on 4 separate ocassions over 3 weeks. The first 3 times I was told my order was in NY and would be on its way soon. On my 5th call I asked for a Manager and was given a new phone#. I called this # early on a Monday morning and spoke with the rep who said he would get to the bottom of the problem with my order and call me back. After no response we called him back the next day and were told we could wait 1 more day or get a refund. We waited the 1 day and the order arrived on Wednesday of that same week. Lack of communication is my main concern here. No emails to explain the delay in processing my order yet my account was charged nearly 4 weeks before my order shipped on 3/13/07. Product arrived in good condition."
"It took over a month to receive a simple order of a 8GB memory stick from them. There were issues with tax, which a reputable company *should* be able to easily handle. I made four different phone calls with service people and/or order escalation people, they all told me the order should be there "tomorrow". Several days later, I wouldn't receive it.
I will give them credit for two things - everyone I spoke to on the phone was professional and courteous, and I did eventually receive the product (5 weeks after I ordered).
I understand mistakes happen. However, I shopped at CompareMaster because online price searches showed they were the cheapest retailer for the memory stick in question ($99). However, in the five weeks they took to ship the product, another online company started offering the same product more cheaply ($84). It would have been nice if they offered more than an apology, considering this.
I also paid almost $12 for shipping - for a USB memory stick to go from New York to Massachusetts! I wouldn't be so upset with this rip-off if the shipping didn't take five weeks.
In retrospect, it would have been better to have bought from the other online company. I'd have gotten the product much quicker. I'll make sure I do this next time."

"I have received my Tom Tom One and I am very happy with it. I am saddened to see that the same item is now on sale at several locations for much less money than I paid. Radio shack and circuit city have it for 299.00 while Office depot has it for sale at 250.00. Since I have had to unit for less than 10 days what is the policy on price match or return and credit. I look forward to hearing from you. I sent them 4 emails and have not had any reply from them. They now have the item at 264.00. The customer service really sucks! I imagine that if I had a defective unit I would be twice as angry. I trust that they are waiting till the time limit expires so the can tell me since i waited to long the time frame for return or credit has expired!

"On the surface, this seemed like a reputable company to me so I place my order on Friday, 01/12/2007 for a $70 product (Draper Consul Tripod Projection Screen). I had to receive the product within three days because I was leaving town for a conference at which I needed the product (the screen was for a presentation). So I paid $95 for UPS 2nd Day air shipping. Feeling skeptical about the timing, I even called the Comparemaster 800 number and was reassured (turns out, lied to) by their operator that if I placed the order and paid for the premium shipping I would in fact receive it within two to three days (call it 01-17-07 to allow for the weekend and late day purchase on 01-12-07).
So on 01/12/2007 I paid for the product and requested UPS 2nd Day Air, paying an additional $95.15, to make sure I received the order within two to three days. As of 01/17/2007 (three FULL business days after order) I had not received the product.
On the morning of 01/18/2007, a few hours before leaving for the airport, I called customer service and talked to a Judy and informed her of the problem. I was about to catch a flight out of town and could not wait any longer for the shipment. I told her that I had to purchase the product locally and could not use the CompareMaster product which I did not receive until I returned to town 01/22/2007.
So this reputable company likes to boast about what hey call an industry leading return policy. The have an RMA process that must be strictly followed where they say to allow “7-10 days” after delivery of the return for processing and proper credit to my account (no problem, I could have lived with that). According to UPS, the returned merchandise was received by Comparemaster on 01/31/2007. As of February 28th (almost a FULL month after they signed for the UPS returned shipment), I still had not received any credit or any word from Comparemaster at all. It was not until 3/1/2007, a full month not “7-10 days”, after they received the return before I heard from them. This was after several emails and phone calls.
So they finally refunded the $70 for the product but refuse to refund the shipping. I paid more than the cost of the product to get within ‘2nd Day’ air delivery (would have accepted three days) and did not. I paid for a service that I did not receive and they refuse to refund for the service blunder.
This is pathetic. Bottom line; I paid for a service that I did not receive (UPS 2nd Day Air), I was lied to by their customer service rep on 01/12/2007, I waited a full month after they received the returned merchandise to hear anything at all from them and ended up with a “We do apologize we cannot honor you request”.
This is the worst online shopping experience I have EVER had. Comparemaster should be ashamed of this transaction. I am ashamed that I ever did business with them and hope others will choose not to for good reason."

"At first this internet company seemed to be really good. Their prices were reasonable and I loved the free shipping with a certain dollar amount purchase which we qualified for. Shipping was quick but when we received our product and opened it, we found it to be defective. I immediately called the company to notify them and have the item replaced but was not happy that we had to pay return shipping for a defective item. Customer service said they would have the manager "Manny" call us back to let us know about the shipping. After a week of waiting with no call, I called again and was told they would try again to have Manny call us back. After another week, I called customer service again and was told to be sure to submit for an RMA number before the month was up or we couldn't return the product at all and that again they would try to have Manny call us back regarding the shipping. Another week passed and Manny never called so I finally shipped the product back for $12 with insurance. We got another product a week and half later and an e-mail asking to let them know if we were satisfied with their service. I e-mailed how DISSATISFIED I was and again heard nothing back from them. Suffice to say I am very displeased with Comparemaster and would not recommend that company to anyone. Quite frankly, their Customer Service is practically non-existant....espcially from the manager named "Manny" who never bothered or had the proper manners to return our calls. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Comparemaster a zero. Shop elsewhere!
02/09- In regards to Comparemasters reply below (probably written by Manny)....First of all, why are you giving me this information AFTER I write a review?? Multiple times I requested a call back or some kind of acknowledgement to our questions and concerns and nothing! My complaint wasn't only about the return shipping, it was mostly about lack of customer service. Secondly, I think almost everyone would agree that a burnt pixel on a screen is a defect. Especially since I spent over $700 on the product. For that money, I expect a perfectly running machine. But I will be happy to check with the original manufacturer and find out about that myself and write my findings here. I will be back with that....
02/15- I e-mailed the Garmin manufacturer about the pixels and they e-mailed that a product with even ONE pixel burnt is defective and should be returned to the factory for servicing as it would not be operating correctly. So you can add LIAR to Comparemasters reviews! I can't stand it when a company makes things up to cover their you know what. If anyone orders a Garmin Nuvi 660 from Comparemaster, be sure to check the upper left quadrant of your screen for a burnt pixel since they will probably resell it to someone else since 'one burnt pixel' is not a defect according to them. Then be prepared to not get any customer service and then pay over $10 to ship it back. Unacceptable!"
