"I purchased an ATI Rage Pro PCI video card from these folks last summer. I tried it in the computer I was going to use it in and got a beep pattern from the motherboard that told me the video memory was bad. I tried it in another computer and got the same error beeps. I sent it back to CompuVest on my dime and they said they tested it and that it was good. They charged me 15% restocking fee.

Trying to contact these folks is a pain and I really got the feeling that they have made a practice of selling knowingly bad parts and then saying that they test out ok then charge the 15% restock. Hey, you pay for shipping both ways they make 15% on a bad part they sell over and over again. What a deal for them.

"Last week I ordered a 3COM 10bps CF+ card for my handheld. After I placed my order, I did not recieve any confirmation email of any kind. Not only that, the order number given to me did not show any results on their tracking page. Although I was concerned, I finally recieved my card 5 days later. Unfortunately, the card does not work. Given their return policy, "fees" and unresponsive support, it's too much of a hassle to return this piece of junk."

"Ordered a Nomad IIc on Monday. My credit card didn't want to work, so they called me later that day. I called them back the next day and gave them the right credit card info, that was Tuesday. The Nomad showed up on Wednesday morning.

It was brand new, sealed in a retail box. The sales rep I talked to was friendly and knew who I was when I called. Shipping was very reasonable, $6 for UPS ground.

All around, a great deal. I wouldn't hesiate to buy again.

" Received a defective monitor. I tested the monitor carefully on 2 different computers, and I told them exactly what problems the monitor exhibited. After I returned the monitor, they said it tested good, and charged me 15%. I lost $62 including the round trip shipping. Read the other comments here. Dealing with these guys is a crap shoot. Its not worth it to deal with a company like this just to save a couple of bucks. If you feel lucky, buy a lottery ticket, don't order computer parts.
Also, I felt that their description of the monitor was misleading, and that I did not receive exactly what I ordered.

"The completely mis-advertised and sent me the wrong product. On the site, every indication was that my product was an LG Electronics GDR-8160B DVD-drive (which I specifically chose as they correctly displayed all the specifications on the website). Even the picture showed that it was LG and the invoice I recieved listed the product as an LG Electronics product. Instead I got some junky generic model that is type "Syko" whatever that is and made by Hitachi or something. Completely misled me and jipped me off."

"Do not buy anything from them. They have wrong description on the product to make it more valuable and sell it with high price. I have to return my mp3 player for this reason. When I asked to return the product, they want to charge me for shippings (twice). Finally, I talked this out and they agree to pay for shipping back. However, they pretend to forget about returning tax amount and wait until I ask to return it. It's horrible man."

"I have bought 4 video cards, video memory, 3 processors and
and 2 hard drives from Compuvest
over the last 3 years and very recently 2 more IBM hard drives. No problems. I have always been very satisfied with them ordering direct from their web site along with receiving prompt e-mails of order/shipping confirms from them. Their telephone service is not the best but I have always dealt with a guy named "Alex" who gives me great service. I highly recommend them. They do sell a lot of older "oem" and "refurbished" stuff, so one should make sure what they getting before ordering. On the other hand, what draws me to their site is their selection of legacy items.

"Order a Rio Volt 250. It didn't work when it arrived. There was not even a start up guide. P.S. To above, it was easy enough to get an RMA, though I have always believed when someone is sent a defective product, they should not have to pay the return shipping, the seller should. Also, the same order contained a ATI video card. They stated they sent me a Rage Maxx Fury, it was an ATI Radeon 7000. Best as I can tell, I get the better end of that deal, but they should be more careful.
Follow up (2) item was returned. It was processed in a timely manner but my request for exchange was ignored and a refund was given instead. FURTHER, though the item was sent back because it did not turn on for me, I was charged a 15% restocking fee. I inquired as to why and received this response...
We are very sorry but Compuvest takes no responsibility for the inability to use the products. According to our policy, not defective returned products are subject to a 15% restocking fee...

I consider the above an insult because I have rebuilt computers, have studied them since 1987, and worked with RIO products before. I should think I know how to put two AA batteries in and turn a product on. They only thing I got out of this was free shipping on the replacement item I ordered after they realized what I had requested. This is little consolation since I have already paid shipping to me and back. I will not be a return customer.

"I bought a video card and RAMs advertised as new from them. The video card is new in box, the RAMs are used, dusty and looked like dog pull toys.

This company is a ghost. Its warehouse in West Seattle doesnt exist. I lived two miles from the supposed physical address of this company and they denied me a local pickup on my order. So I went out and checked it up and there's no office, nor warehouse.

Recently, I sent an email asking about details of an video card with picture that says "Not actual items" left unanswered. A very shady business IMO.

"Ordered a USRobotics modem. The modem arrived with the wrong installation guide and the wrong driver CD. USRobotics verified that wrong guide & CD were sent. After several attempts, reached Compuvest and they started spouting off about not refunding shipping charges and charging a restocking fee when I return product at MY expense. Told them to issue a UPS call ticket and I would return the modem at THEIR expense. Also told them I want a full refund, INCLUDING SHIPPING. It was as if the guy didn't hear me. He started again with the canned return policy, etc. Called my VISA card bank and they will reverse the charges. Still willing to return modem if I get a UPS call ticket within 30 days. BTW, when I first called them, I got an answering machine that said to leave message & they would call back within 30 munutes. It had been over 4 HOURS, & they never called back. Will NEVER buy from them again."

"I too was another victum of their dishonest approach. I order a palm m130 based on their advertised low price. When it arrived it didn't work so i called palm only to find out that it had been registered to someone else and it was not new. When I called they hung up on me. I wish I read some of these ratings before I ordered. I am still waiting for my refund. This guys are clearly
untrustworthy. Maybe you will get lucky but it is not worth the risk.

"Compuvest has a very deceiving practice of not informing prospective buyers about key performing features on the products that they carry on their catalog. I went shopping for a PC display card with TV out feature,and in two separate instances they shipped the card advertised in the web, but with European PAL TV standard. Useless in America. When I returned the cards they kept a 15% returning fee and kept the shipping charges. They have not corrected the advertising, so unsuspecting American consumers will get these inadequate cards, which Compuvest probably got at a bulk deal, and is purposedly unloading it on unsuspecting american consumers.
I think this amounts to misleading advertising and fraudulent practice.
I have all suporting evidence of these complaints to Compuvest, and correspondence with OEM manufacturers confirming that these products are not for the US market.

"They sent me an obviously used video card (thick layer of dust on the fan) that did not match their description. It was supposed to be new and have different aperatures. RMA policy requires 15% restocking fee and store credit only for items returned after 14 days, plus the customer pays shipping. "
