"Terrible! CompuVest substituted shoddy parts for what I ordered from their website. Different brand than what I ordered -- What they substituted and sent didn't work. The parts I ordered and what shows on their website I know works fine (I already have some of these parts) -- it's the shoddy parts they substituted without even asking me that don't work. Quite a surprise when I opened the box. I immediately emailed CompuVest and then called them by voice-phone to give CompuVest the opportunity to rectify the problem and send me what I have ordered. They refused when I reached CompuVest by telephone today. The junk parts they substituted are throwaways for me and now I have to re-order from someone else. My tough luck. Don't you have the same. Avoid CompuVest and their questionable business practices."

"What a joke these guys are. As the last guy said, don't ever buy hard drives from them. I bought 2 40.0 GB Raptors, so called WD400GD, which WD claims never was made. The site never mentioned it being refurbished, and it came with more dents than a golf ball, not to mention a lunar sized crater on one.

The one with the crater took about 3 or 4 tries to even detect properly, and when I finally installed Windows died during a Check Desk. From then on the drive was being recognized as a WD400BB, which kind of makes sense since the WD400GD was never produced...I would call this one a modification failure.

Their customer support I would rate next to zero...showing no disregard whatsoever for my position, saying that I was the one who bought it and that they have no quality control over their products, they just sell what they were sent my the manufacturer. I noticed they changed the description to read "refurbished" after I bought the drive.

This is my first time and last time dealing with these jokers."

"WARNING DO NOT BUY FROM THEM - ESPECIALLY IF HARD DRIVES

Compuvest is a B stock vendor. As I learned, they sell close-out, defective, and refurbished goods, but advertise them as "new".

Purchased two hard disk drives:

73GB SCSI MAXTOR 10K RPM U320 8B073L0 4.4 SEEK 8MB 68PIN

After receiving I noticed serial numbers were vastly different (normally they are close in numeric range when buying from same vendor). Items also looked used.

Called the manufacture, Maxtor Corporation, and had them lookup serial numbers. The support person, Don immediately said, "send them back to whoever you bought them from", because, "those drives are evaluation units". He also said, "they do not have a warranty".

Received RMA# from Compuvest, however, they did not credit me full purchase price and shipping amount (charged me 15% restocking fee).

Tried to resolve, but they insist they did everything right.

They did nothing right. Maxtor knows their drives: they are used, repackaged EVALUATION UNITS with no warranty!

Note: these drives (with exception of evaluation units and non-Maxtor branded drives) come with a standard 5-year warranty. Compuvest says 1-year warranty. Not possible! Maxtor does not sell this type of drive with 1-year warranty."

"Ordered a utility disc online at 8AM, received the generic computerized response that the order was recieved, but nothing after. I checked the status at 4pm, nothing showded up in the order status, so I called- the item was not in stock, they might be getting it soon. Dissappointed I explained that I needed the item asap, the rude, unfriendly phone rep snottily asked what I wanted to do, so I told him I want to cancel the order, he said fine and hung up on me. Will not order from these people again"

"Online ordering was smooth and efficient. Low price on item, and was in stock (according to website). Checkout was efficient. UPS tracking provided the next day.
Received items - WRONG ITEMs. Called customer service, left a voicemail. Emailed support, was informed that they don't have live support. Explained issue over several emails - his reply was OK. Requested RMA for return - they required 15% restocking fee. Gritted teeth, kept wrong items; will sell off on ebay. Will not buy from them again! Horrible customer service; shipped wrong item; refused return without heavy penalties (order was around ~$600)."

"The item arrived very quickly and works great. I was leery because their website (and invoice for that matter) are riddled with spelling errors and other unprofessional signs. Also the website doesn't clearly define what you get -- i.e., "bulk" apparently means a non-retail package without drivers (which you must download).
