"Several hiccups along the way:
1. After I paid by credit card, they sent me a bill via PayPal (w/o warning they would do this) asking me to pay using PayPal instead. That causes 2 extra problems.
1(a). First, when I get my credit card bill at the end of the month I'm going to have to make sure that they didn't charge me twice by accident.
1(b). Next, it delayed shipping b/c they didn't send the PayPal e-mail until the next day, then I didn't get it until later that day, so by the time I paid it (again) it didn't get processed until the next morning. It's lucky I just happened to see their e-mail later the same day they sent it, otherwise it could've been delayed 3 days or more. Since they didn't warn me, I wasn't exactly trolling my e-mail waiting to make a 2nd payment, so it's just lucky that I caught it soon afterward.
2. Then it turned out that they oversold the item, so they couldn't perform their end of the contract. This was odd b/c it said they had 2 in stock when I made the purchase. Anyways, they offered a choice between 2 different replacement items, or I could get a refund. Neither option had better reviews than the item I ordered... I guess we'll see.
3. They didn't send me the "we can't perform" e-mail until 2 days after I paid (the 2nd time), so by the time I finished researching the 2 new options & made a selection, it was now mid-day Friday (I placed the order on Monday). As you can guess, they didn't get around to processing it until the next Monday (today). So a week after placing the order, all I have is an invoice saying that a replacement has been sent. I don't even have a tracking number. I have no way of knowing at this point how much longer it's going to take to get the item, or if it's really even on the way at all (a dubious assumption given Compuvest's track record up till now).
And I wouldn't even mind so much the horrible turn-around time if it weren't for the fact that they made no effort whatsoever to shore up customer satisfaction by offering a better grade replacement item, or some partial refund, or at least let me know they're going to rush delivery on the replacement, or something, anything. Most retailers try to help you in some way, Compuvest doesn't care at all."
