"I ordered a Creative webcam from CompuVest and it was swiftly processed and sent to me with UPS. UPS claimed to have delivered the package and left at my door, but I did not receive anything. I contacted CompuVest and I got a response immediately. They followed up the issue very carefully while UPS was investigating what had happened to the package. Eventually the investigation completed and CompuVest mailed me a new webcam.

I received it today and it was exactly what I was expecting securely and carefully packaged. Overall I am very satisfied with the services of CompuVest. Things went wrong with the shipping from UPS, and CompuVest proved to be very reliable. I will buy from CompuVest again without hesitation.

"CompuVest provided excellent service for this, my first order from them. They processed my order quickly and had the product on its way the very next day. I had neglected to provide a discount code at the time of my order, but the customer service employee was able to apply the discount anyway and credited my account. "Ordered a replacement used Sony Vaio laptop like the one I own as they had one in stock. Looked reputable as after the order the stock no longer showed up on their site. I kept checking their site daily and it always showed processing. I go suspcious after it still was not waiting for me 10 days later when I got off vacation. Went to the site and again it shows "processing". I did a live chat and was told they tried to call me to verify the order was not fraudulent on Sept 2nd. They had both my business and my cell numbers, no to mention my email. No one at my business took a message to call CompuVest and my cell history reveals CompuVest never called my cell. This is a very lame story I received because the girl on the CompuVest chat said they'd have to credit back my credit card. That brings up the question why if they were checking fraudulent sales would they first charge the card and then try to verify it before shipping? The correct procedure, of course, would be to not run the card and call the owner before running the charge. As it was they had my money and did not even send the item. If I had not requested the refund I'm guessing it would have continued indefinitely that way. This is a shady business practice to be sure. I cannot recommend this merchant and, based on my experience, wished I would have never given them an on-line order."

"I had purchased from Compuvest before, and had been pleased with the transaction, so when it was time to purchase a replacement component subwoofer from my son's car, I contacted Compuvest. They had a fair price on a Kicker subwoofer (it was listed as NEW - Open Box), so I placed the order.

I received the item relatively quickly. I was a little surprised by the poor condition of the box, but I had ordered an "open box" item, so I wasn't too concerned, especially since my first purchase was also "open box" and I had no problems.

My problem occurred when I installed the item. The subwoofer is a little non-standard, in that it is a dual voice-coil speaker. As such, it has four posts to connect to the speaker wires. Since there was no user manual (not uncommon on an open-box item), I downloaded the appropriate manual from Kicker's website.

When I hooked up the speaker according the the instructions, I was disappointed to find the speaker did not work. I called Kicker technical support, and they had me run a few tests, one of which was to connect the wiring to each pair of posts separately, to isolate each voice-coil. We found that one voice-coil worked, and the other didn't, which would be considered defective. They suggested I return it.

I contacted Compuvest and received an RMA number, but found they had no more in stock, so I would have to settle for a refund. I had already investigated their return policy and found that return shipping would be refunded for defective items.

After confirming the item had been received, I emailed my return-shipping receipt for reimbursement. It was then I learned that the speaker had been tested and been found to be working, and not only would my shipping not be refunded, I would be charged a 15% restocking fee.

I explained how the subwoofer might pass a cursory test, since one of the voice-coils was indeed functioning, but if tested according to the owner's manual, it would certainly fail the test. Over a week went by with no response, and after repeated emails, I was informed that they would "make an exception" and refund the restocking fee. However, they would *not* refund the shipping charges (either direction) since the item was "defective".

Once again, I explained the Kicker technical support call, my testing methods, and even detailed how the new speaker I had purchased locally worked as designed, where the unit I was sold would not. I even asked to speak to the person who did the testing to help them replicate the problem. I was basically told that there was nothing they could do to refund my $33 shipping charges.

It was now becoming clear why the box was in such bad shape -- it would appear they've sold this speaker multiple times, and when someone that knows audio equipment finds it defective, they return it only to have it "tested good" and resold to another unsuspecting customer.

It's frustrating to be out-of-pocket over $30 for something that was supposed to be "new" (when it's clearly not), and then have the company who sold it have such little regard for their customers.

**** UPDATE ****
After seeing the ResellerRatings response, I contacted Compuvest again, and they agreed to refund the shipping charges as I had requested. As a result, I've bumped my rating up a bit to reflect that I'm now satisfied at the resolution of the problem.

"False advertising and slow refunds. They advertised their laptop as new, but it was an open box. So i cancelled the order and its been over 4 days now and i still havent received my refund."
