"Wow, what a terrible experience. I searched google shopping for part U4545E (HP Care Pack). It showed compu america as having the lowest price of $762 plus $14.58 shipping (even though this is 100% electronic delivery, but whatever, still cheapest at $)
They called me at least 4 times the next day telling me that that price is wrong and it really costs $100 dollars more and I should accept their new price because others charge over a thousand. Today, the day after they told me they don't have it at the advertised price, if you Google the same part number, they still show up LYING about the price they are selling it at.
I read reviews that talk about the same experience before placing my order with them but never imagined that I would have the exact same experience too.
What this merchant is doing is fraudulent. They advertise the lowest price, call you back after you place an order with them, and try to get you to pay a higher price thinking that you will just say OK to it, because you just want to get the item and don't want to deal with searching and re-ordering again from somewhere else.
They are abusing the Google's shopping service."
"I ordered a UPS component (network card) from them which was supposed to come with a bunch of listed accessories/items. I only received the item bare in a box with none of the other items. 4-5 phone conversations later, they have continually failed to follow-up with promised information (calling me back to see if they had the accessories, which partners might have it, when they can get it to me -- and eventually they were supposed to e-mail me with RMA information that never showed up).
It also took ~3 weeks for me to receive my item, and even though I was told by e-mail at the time of the order that a tracking number would be made available to me, I never received one. I called to ask about it and was told that "it shipped from another location so tracking information [is] unavailable"
This crappy experience has reinforced my belief that you should stick with merchants who you have positive past experience with - in my case I wish I stayed with refurbups.com as I have continually had a great shopping and customer service experience with them."
"We ordered a phone from these people. The web price was $491. The day after the order was placed, they called saying that there was an error on their web page, and that the correct price was $549. As the price was still good, we accepted.
We order some other phones from them. This time the web price was $149. The day after the order was placed, they called saying that the web page was in error, and that the price would be $199. This was too many "errors", too close together. In fact, this pattern suggests fraud.
AVOID THIS COMPANY."
"I purchased couple of items from Compu america. I received my orders with a little bit delay but it was exactly what i ordered and in a very good condition. So far I'm happy with them. The guy I talked to on the phone was very polite and helpful to me. He told me they are improving the shipping department to process the orders completely on time. Hope that happens soon."
"I am a very busy real estate broker with a large staff. Compu America has been unbelievable responsive to our every computer and network needs. We couldn't imagine anyone else servicing us at a higher level."
"Sell what they don't have; takes forever to get my money back! They buy and dropship/resell all kind of used stuff- so awoid by all costs!"
"BE FULLY WARNED! Do NOT buy from these people! I ordered with them since they advertised overseas shipping and an unbeatable price on the server part(s) I needed. Well, after many emails and long-distance phone calls with custserv, it took more than a full month after the initial order to actually confirm that overseas shipping was possible, and then they made me cancel and redo the order since they wanted to charge "extra" shipping for overseas, which turned out to be an eye-popping arm and a leg for just the shipping alone, with no apparent rhyme or reason to pricing. I of course, cancelled everything almost 2 months after my first order out of sheer frustration and distrust. On top of this, I used a new email address and I started getting spam mail after this ordeal. Sorry I couldn't find anything nice to say but this was my experience with Compu-America. Too bad you can't choose zero stars below."
"After reading all the "horror stories", I was a bit hesitant to purchase through them. I am glad i didnt judge them on what I read! I was pleased with how well they communicated with me through the entire purchase of my printer, and it continued all the way to the end. I got my printer at a great price, and I am glad that I gave them the chance instead of just brushing them off because of a few comments."
"I ordered a scanner on 6/18/12, The site said delivery in 5-7 days. 10 days later I got a call saying the only one they had in stock was still new but out of the box and they wanted to know if I would accept with a $20.00 discount. I accepted. 5 days later it has not arrived. I called to see the status and they couldnt contact their shipper at first and had to call me back, but the end result was it had not shipped yet."
"Buyer Beware - Placed order with Compu America on 06/05/2012. 2 days later bank contacted me about possible fraudulent charges and cancelled card. Contacted Compu America after new card issued and re-placed order. 10 days later and bank has called again reporting more fraudulent activity. Makes you go hmmmm."
"Poor. I ordered product on a Monday and had to follow up on Friday to check status. I was told they're a really "big" company and it take 24-48 hours just to process an order. What??? They tried to give me the bait-and-switch after they realized my item I ordered was not available. I even called them before I placed my order online to confirm availability. Frustrating.

"All I can say is, don't waste your time with these guys. I have been on the phone with them several times a day for the last 3 days. I ordered 4 Procurve switches, and after a week of waiting I called to see what the holdup was. They said they had faxed the order to their warehouse, but apparently they (the warehouse) never got the order. So they placed the order again, but as I found out today, apparently for only one of the switches I ordered. I finally have a tracking number for the one switch they sent out. Honestly I have no idea what I will actually get. I cancelled the order for the other 3 switches, because I'm not taking anymore chances. FWIW, although they were never rude, they never apologized once when they identified these issues.
They seem to have a big problem actually fulfilling orders - from having the items in stock, to communicating with their warehouse to get the order shipped out. On top of that, I wasn't notified that there was a problem with the order. So if you are depending on something arriving by a certain date, you better call daily and verify things are on track."
"These guys took my order for 8 units, at a very good price, sent me one ($240 each). Then three weeks later I called to check on the status of the other units. THEY SAID THEY HAD A TRUCK COMMING ON MONDAY, BUT THE PRICE JUST INCREAED BY $100 PER UNIT ($340 each). I informed them that I would report this on line, and that they could cancel my order."
"I work for a top tier law school, and we needed to get a bunch of enterprise level hard drives. We placed an order for 6 - 2 TB drives, then another order for 6 more of the same (to avoid delays of going through the P.O. process here). We got a call shortly after the second order, warning us we made a duplicate order. We told them this wasn't an error, please process. This extra care made us feel good. Then, I saw all the negative reviews and got a sinking feeling. We decided to wait and see what shipped before we did anything. We received the packages within a few days. We inspected the well packed drives, and they seemed legit. After adding 10 of them into the NAS, & adding them successfully to the volume we decided to post the pos review."
"I ordered two harddrives, they needed to be identical as they go in a server and the RAID function needs them to be the same.
I was invoiced for two. I got emails saying two were shipped. Only one arrived. I contacted them via email and they said:
We had only 1unit available & charged you only for 1
Sincerely
Nikki

My issue is that if they only had one, they should have contacted me or sent me a revised invoice or done something, other than surprising me the day I was to upgrade the server by opening the box and finding only one there. I asked for an RMA number to return the one so I could get two identical from someone else. No response.
