"Compu America took my order but did not process it because it turns out that they require I add my shipping address to my credit card account. They held my order without notifying me and I have lost 2 days on an urgent order. I have tried explaining to them that I do not want to modify my credit card address because I do not want to take any chance that important correspondence could wind up in an unsecured mailbox. I use my PO Box exclusively for all major correspondence, including my credit card. I also explained that if they would check with my bank they will find that my billing address matches the credit card information that I have given them. They are, however, intransigent and I find their position unreasonable in the extreme. I have now lost at least 2 days of income due to this missing merchandise. They claim they sent me an email about this matter but all I got was an email telling me that the order was pending. They could have at least picked up a phone and called me to tell me there was an issue. BTW - it took me an hour and a half and numerous calls to finally reach a supervisor who then told me that there was nothing she could do for me first unless I first change my credit card address information with my bank. My advice: avoid this company if at all possible."

"This company is HORRIBLE! Do NOT purchase from them. I was looking for some inexpensive memory and found compu-america using Google Shopping. Their online price was excellent. I watched the price for about a week - no change. On the day I decided to place the order, I called them to confirm price and stock. They had plenty of stock and the price was correct. Later in the day (after placing the order), they contacted me and told me that the price was wrong. It was an "old" price that "somehow" didn't get updated in the system. The "new" price was double! What a joke! From reading other reviews, it seems they do this quite frequently. I bid a tech job based upon the pricing I received. Now who's going to look bad? ME! I now have to go back to the client and tell them the price is double. I'll probably lose the bid. Save yourself the grief and purchase from a REPUTABLE online vendor."

"Ordered printer maintenance kit. Waited a week, called and asked why it didn't ship because it was listed as in stock, they said they don't know if it has shipped and that there's no way to find out. I waited another week, they wouldn't pick up the phone for a day, called back next day and they said it's out of stock and it won't ship for another week. When i asked to cancel the order they ignored me and just kept repeating the phrase "it will ship in a week." they were completely rude and lazy and ignored everything i told them until threatening to dispute the charge on my credit card. BEWARE."

"Shady company. Ordered brand new HP printer received obviously used one 4 weeks later. Called to setup RMA and was told that it was just aesthetics and they wanted to offer me money to just keep it. I said I had no faith in paying for a new printer and getting a used one. Long story short after arguing my case they accepted to take it back. Should have known, box was a mess when I received it. Customer service was very rude and argumentative. I would NEVER buy from them again! Not trust worthy and liars."

"good customer service; I changed my mind about my order realizing that being in New York and ordering a laptop from California was almost asking for trouble during shipping, I cancelled my order. The staff was courteous, prompt, and gave me no trouble at all. I I lived in California, I would consider ordering from them. They have excellent pricing too."

"Next-day-air turned into Next-Week-maybe, no call or email giving me the bad news. After being juggled for a while, I was finally told that Gateway wouldn't drop-ship me the computers and instead had to be rerouted through CompAmerica. Sounds like a tricky lie to me. I had to demand a refund of shipping fee instead of them offering it to me. BBB rating for this company? a big fat "F," and after doing business with them, I haven't been given reason to disagree."

"This must be a scam. Their price was 20% lower than anywhere else on the internet for the product I wanted, which was listed as being in stock. After 3 weeks of no response from them, I phoned in and was hung up on 4 times. Finally after threatening to cancel the order they said they might be able to ship today or tomorrow.

They are rude and unresponsive. BEWARE!

"BUY BEWARE!!! Ordered memory on January 13th, had heard nothing from the company as of January 22nd. Called support and was told the prices were wrong and they had to get approval for higher pricing to ship.... They had said nothing, sent no emails, NOTHING!!! Seems like bait and switch. these guys are a total scam!"

"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. The customer service is very bad. It takes forever to get the products. It got shipped to the wrong customer and they said it was not their fault (it's shipping department). Never called back as promised. Look like someone is doing a business in the basement. "BUYER BEWARE! Worst customer service ever, and Miguel never calls back. I purchased four HP Printers, one of which was damaged during transit and refused upon delivery. I immediately contacted Compu-America, spoke to Miguel, to inform them of the damaged printer and they asked that I email a copy of the packing slip and the tracking number for the printer that was refused, which I did. Miguel never called or email me. I called 2 days later about ten different times but could never reach him. I left voicemails and sent countless emails only to get no response. I finally demanded a credit. It is now Nov. 3 and I have yet to receive a credit. I will never do business with this company ever again. "

"To the Owner of Compu-america.com -

I am the owner of Access Computers Inc. On 9/11/09 we placed an order for merchandise for 3682.77 The order was cancelled on 9/23 because of non-shipment of the product. Our purchase order specifically stated that you were not to charge the card until the product was ready to ship.

As of today, 10/9/09, the credit has not been issued to our credit card despite several calls and emails by April - our purchasing manager here.

I have reported compu-america.com to the fraud department at Chase bank and have disputed the charge as well. I will be forwarding a copy of the incident letter from Chase to PayPal, Google checkout, American Express, Authorize.net, and the various broker networks as well.

"I called Compu America to ask about shipping charges for memory, as the >$20 shipping charge on their web site seemed high.

They answered immediately, and asked for the product number. As I read the number to her she had trouble hearing me, so while repeating the number slowly she looked it up without finding anything. I asked if she wanted the rest of the number, and she said yes so I finished reciting it. Again, she found nothing. This time, it was because she only entered the characters after the first ones, even though I asked if she wanted "the rest" of the number, not a different one.
She now understood, so I repeated the whole number and she found the product; but she talked about their return policy instead of mentioning shipping.

I asked again for shipping charges, and gave my zip code. Then, she couldn't find any information about shipping and eventually repeated the product number to verify it was correct, even though when she first found the product she described it and I said "Yes, that's it". She read the number but it was missing a forward slash. I have no idea how she found it without a forward slash. I told her it was missing the slash and she said I should have told her earlier because it's required to look up a product. I informed her I did, twice (during the initial number recital when she split it in two, and the second when I read the whole number), and she said "No you didn't".

That was enough. It's great the phone was picked up immediately but somebody who works via phone should pay attention to the person they're talking to.

"I completely relate to the other reviews. I placed an order on the 28th, $2500 worth in laptops I might add. After receiving the run-around for 2 1/2 weeks I finally cancelled it today. I canceled it because I was told they were on back order last week, this week they may be able to get them or they may not. Our business doesn't operate on "may be able to". Either you send them when I order them or you don't. And if they were on back order the website should have indicated as such. Or perhaps someone could have told me sooner. Very poor communication and customer service. Probably the worst I've ever experienced. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. "

"Wish I had checked out reviews on this company before ordering... Rarely have I ever had any problems with on-line orders.

On 6/21/09 I ordered a high end IDE hard drive from them (a 250GB RAID drive) for $101. I got a call that the product was discontinued, and that they had a replacement model ready to ship. I asked them if it was a proper replacement, and was told that it was.

What I received was a lower-end SATA drive that only costs $69. But guess what? They still charged me the full $101! Like I wrote on another review site, it's like I ordered a gas-powered Lexus, got a diesel Toyota, and still got charged for the price of the Lexus.

When the product came in, and couldn't be installed into our server, I was ticked off, but thought that it would be easy to get something else shipped out. I called the company on 6/28, and was told that Miguel would call me back. On 6/29, didn't get a call, so I submitted the info on their web page, since they don't actually give you an e-mail address. Whatever.

Still no reply. On 7/8, called to get my money back, since I found the exact units that I needed from somewhere else, for only a couple extra bucks. Was still told that Miguel was the person to talk to, but he wasn't in. I was assured that he would contact me.

It's now 7/14. Guess what? Miguel never called back.

After hearing the problems that others have had, this outfit seems pretty shady. I try to stick only with companies that I've bought from in the past, but the price they were offering was just too attractive. Now I know why. They get to pocket an extra $32.

Credit card company's giving them 30 days to refund our money, before it's automatically credited to the account.

All reviews that I've seen have either been one star, or 5 stars. Makes you wonder who really writes those 5 star reviews...

"I placed an order and the order confirmation came through fine. However after checking the order status online I kept noticing that it does not move away from the status of "Provisioning." I called their office and at first they told me they did not have access to the system that can tell me what the issue is. After repeated calls they told me that my order is waiting to be shipped. After checking the status again a week after I had placed the order I noticed that the order is cancelled. I then called them and they told me that they don't have the product and for this reason they have cancelled my order. I tried to get a hold of a manager or the owner named Farhad, but he never returned my call. They even have not returned my money nor did they send any email notifying me that the order was cancelled. Save yourself a lot of trouble and don’t do any business with them."
