"I ordered an OEM Pentium 4 2.8GHz processor with 800MHz FSB for $260, a very good price, and the best on Pricewatch.com. The day after placing the order I received a call from Computer Brain trying to sell me a warranty on my processor. This is to be expected, as many online resellers are pulling this scam nowadays, so I told them to add a 1 year warranty for $12 to avoid the product suddenly becoming “out of stock”. This brings the total of my order to $272 plus $24 for 2nd day air shipping; the final total is therefore $296. The next day a charge for $284 AND a charge for $308 were on my credit card from Computer Brain – no news yet on whether this will be easily cleared up. The processor shipped when expected and arrived on the 7th (because of the July fourth holiday it was delayed). However, to my surprise I had been sent a 3.06GHz processor with a 533MHz bus – not the bus speed I wanted but still a faster processor, so I figured I would try it. Upon further inspection of the processor, I noticed that some pins on the bottom were bent, which is unprofessional, but fixable, until I noticed that at least 2 of the pins had actually been broken off, rendering it useless. I called them and they didn’t offer any hassles to refund my money, they gave me an RMA number and told me there would be no restocking fee that they usually charge (on an OEM processor, non-the-less). I haven’t had time to ship the product back yet as it just arrived today, but I hope to get my money back, for both charges on my card without having to call my bank."
"Worst online experience in my life. Ordered a Motherboard and Fan, the motherboard was defective. Got an RMA and sent it back requesting it be replaced. The tech claimed that the CMOS jumper was not set correctly (which I know was bull) and they sent it back to me, almost the very same day, and assesed $35 fee without even telling me of the charge (I had to find out through my bank. I called and complained, they said sorry about the lack of communication. I got it back and it still did not work. Sent it back to them demanding my money back and they have failed to call or email me when to expect my money. I've since arranged a dispute on all their charges and will file a complaint with every online rating site and with the Better Business Bureau and I encourage everyone not to be swayed by their cheap prices. They are a horrid company to do business with."
"These guys are a bunch of liars! I ordered a Pentium 4 2.4mhz processor from them on 5/10/03. On 5/15/03, I called them to check the status of my order. They told me that my order was shipped on 5/14/03(if that was true, its pretty late as it is). Then a few days later, I received an email telling me that my order was shipped on 5/16/03(which is a day after I called in to check the status). Today is 5/21/03. Its been 11 days and I still have not received my order. As a warning to all shoppers, DO NOT SHOP WITH COMPUTER BRAIN!! These guys not only lied about when they shipped my order, they purposely delay sending it! Never again will I consider ordering ANYTHING from you!"
"What a horrible joke of a company, stay away, very far away"
"I got a good deal on the Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz, 533FSB-supported processor, but they called me and said there was a problem with my order. They claimed that I was buying an OEM processor and for 35 dollars more, I would get a warranty and a heatsink/fan with my processor. I told them to forget the whole thing and they backed off and told me I could have the entire package deal for $190 (including shipping). I agreed to those terms and ended up with a hell of a deal. Just be careful if you deal with them."
"I ordered a SuperMicro motherboard from this company and I REGRET doing that! After I placed my order they called me three days later saying that my motherboard was a OEM motherboard (The website did not say that when I placed my order) and they charged me more 35 dollars to get a retail box! And two days after that I called them and they havent even shipped the motherboard, and when I was fed up with this I decided to cancel the order they said that would have to pay more 35 dollars to cancel it!! I did not cancel it because I am tired of wasting my money with them! And today (a week after I placed my order) they still havent shipped it!! DONT BUY FROM THIS GUYS!! "
"I placed an order with these folks on Monday, April 21 @1:39PM EST for 3 Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboards. I chose this company because they were the cheapest vendor on pricewatch that didn't appear to be obviously trying to rip me off by: selling non-retail motherboards, charging me excessive shipping, requiring I buy a CPU etc.
I did not check reseller ratings, and placed the order. When I did check this site, I immediately got very scared, as I have never seen a rating so low. In my case, buying 3 of a product that was listed as being "very cheap" is usually asking for trouble.
However, at 8:15PM EST I received a tracking number for my purchase, and today (Wednesday, the 23rd) I received the product. I received exactly what I asked for, at exactly the price agreed on.
As a reference point, I purchased CPUs and Memory from New Egg (who would not sell me 3 of these motherboards for some reason) on Monday @ 12:19PM, and received a tracking number at 11:15PM EST.
I feel this vendor deserves "very satisfied" for their timliness and accuracy.

"I ordered from this company over a month ago. Like others here, I received a phone call questioning my choice of shipping, despite that I answered this question while ordering.
The ordering process listed various warnings for inexpensive shipping options, seemingly in an attempt to encourage the customer to upgrade to a higher cost shipping option. I choose a lower cost option, as I see no reason for offering a lower cost option if it's not suitable.
It's now been over a month since I placed my order and I've yet to receive anything. I haven't been charged, so it would seem computerbrain has refused to honor my order at the price given on its' website.
I will never order from this company again and I wouldn't have in the first place if I had checked here before ordering. I strongly suggest not using this company. In my nearly 10 years of ordering products online, this is the worst experience I've had thus far. You can bet that I'll use resellerratings.com before placing future orders online."
"(written June 28) I wrote the following review a couple of months ago. Things have changed. Pricewatch clamped down on these scams. The worst offenders are gone! Others, like Computer Brain, have gotten their act together. Since they are close and FedEx, I've used them three or four times recently with excellent results.
OLD REVIEW: This store operates the "shipping scame" common to most of the low end cpu stores. They waited 18 days from the time of my order to send an email saying they were "concerned" that I had selected "uninsured" shipping.
Reputable stores that offer USPS shippng just fill the order, ship it, and you get it! This (and most of the first CPU 10 stores on pricewatch) are running a lowball scam. Avoid them like the plague!"
"Not only does Computer Braindead not know how to process an order, they ALSO do not know how to use a fax machine. This is unfortunate since all of their "free shipping" orders require the buyer to fax a waiver to them. What's the waiver say? To paraphrase, "We, Computer Braindead, authorize ourselves to ship out any ole piece of trash off our dusty shelves to you, the buyer. If the piece of trash does not work, you're out of luck. We have your money. We win."
Oh- did I mention? The waiver has to be sent TO YOU. You cannot download it. So- place your order, pitch a tent by the phone, setup campfire by the fax machine, and make repeated calls to Computer Braindead requesting they fax you the dang waiver. If you can sift through the broken English to make out a "we send it right now", wander over to the fax machine [campfire], turn the brat, and come back over to the phone and call them back because they didn't send it.
This company is so lame, I laugh outloud at my stupidity, trying for 2 days to get that fax. What's even funnier is, I cancelled the order and the following day, I got the fax. Dorks."
"Ordered an Asus MB on 2/18 recieved it on 2/25. Had some problems with it and called tech support, they where not able to help me with the problem and did not seem to want to try.
(turned out not to be a MB problem, wheew).
I am glad I did not have to RMA anything. Would rather do business with NewEgg."
"I will never ever order from these idiots again. I placed an order online on the 9th of March. They call three days later to get me to buy the extended warranty, which I don't want. That's why I ordered the XP2100 without the warranty, to get the price. I call them on the 18th of March, Oh! we just shipped it today, which means I can't cancel my order. What a ripoff this place is"
"Ordered processor. They call my on friday when I am not home. I don't get a chance to call back untill today and they are trying to sell me a waranty and oem box. I said I don't want extra waranty that is why I didn't choose it. They say ok it will be 2 days untill it ships. I should have been reciveing it in mail but they havn't even shipped yet. Imeaditly cancled order. wish I would have found this site before I ordered from this company.
Thanks alot now I have to wait longer untill I can use my brand new system."
"DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!
I placed an order for an XP 2600+/333 on Jan 10. After reading up on the 333FSB chips, I decided to go with the 266 chip, so emailed them on Jan 14 asking if it was possible to switch chips if the order wasn't packaged yet. No reply. On Jan 16 I emailed again asking what "ship within 24-48 business hours" means, telling them I was uncomfortable not having heard from them in 6 days. I told them if I didn't get a reply by 1/17, I'd cancel the order. I even used return receipt for the email, which "Al Lakhani" read, but didn't reply to. So today, I cancelled my order. No communication whatsoever from them, at least not yet. Wish I had seen this site before! Now I will always check first!"
"Buyer beware! This company is made up of scam artists who don't know waht art is! I didn't know about resselerratings.com until after I ordered an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ on the 31st of December. I waited and emailed them on the 5th of January 2003 asking them about my order status. On the 6th I got a call from them, and immediately I remembered what I read about them here. I called them today, the 7th, and they tried their bait and switch scam like they tried on so many. It made me so mad, they wasted a good week of my time.
When I called they said that the OEM processors were delayed in shipping and that they had a tray version available or the retail version. I asked them why they don't have something that says if the item is in stock or not in their website, and the lady repeated that they had the tray version or the retail version.
The day before I called, they changed the prices on these processors, and changed them on Pricewatch. So I asked the lady why they changed the price of the exact same product if they don't even have it in stock. She said she didn't know anything about that and she just knew the order was delayed. I told her to cancel the order.
From now on, I'm checking here before I buy anything else online. It'll save me a lot of headaches."
