"Cost Captain's reply, below, is completely false. I posted my review over two days after my order, not 24 hours. Had I waited, the review would have been worse. CostCaptain never replied to my multiple e-mails in which I very specifically said that I DO NOT WANT THE CD VERSION AND CANNOT USE THE CD VERSION. that is why I ordered the "PC Download" version. What did CostCaptain do? They send me a note saying that they have mailed the product to me. It is impossible to ship a download via snail mail. If they sent me the CD version, that means that they DID NOT provide me with the product I ordered. As I explained to them in multiple e-mails, I cannot use the CD version. CostCaptain is a joke.
I ordered the "PC Download" version of Quicken on CostCaptain. There was no possibility of error in my order; the receipt cleary states "Download version." Despite that, I have not received the required link or activation code to activate the software. In fact, I have received NOTHING in response to my numerous e-mails other than an invoice showing that they charged me. In other words, they took my money, gave me nothing, and refused to reply. I ordered the download version because I wanted to start using it immediately. Instead, I'm stuck in "waiting for someone to decide to reply to me" limbo.
So far, my experience indicates that CostCaptain is not a retailer; it is a phishing scam who steals money without offering a product."
"Cost captain hooked me up with the best price I could find on he Internet, and the shipping was really fast and di"
"It took over two weeks just for the product to leave for shipment. Far too long of a wait for the product to be shipped and delivered. Despite the fair price and good quality of product, I am reluctant to shop again due to lack of inventory and shipment flaws."
"I received my order promptly and in perfect condition. The price was great - very happy customer!"
"All went smoothly. Shipped promptly. Very satisfied."
"I am regretting my order with CostCaptain. I placed an order on 4 Aug 13, and as of 8 Aug 13, the online order status is still "processing." I have emailed twice, called twice, and left a voicemail once. I have not received any sort of response other than the automated, "We will respond in 24 hours."
If the order ends up shipping and arriving soon, I'll repost a more positive review. But so far the lack of customer service and length of order processing has me concerned. I am also worried about the complaints I have read with orders not being cancelled and refunds not being given for cancelled orders.
UPDATE:
It is 14 Aug 13 and I have not received my order. In fact, it does not appear to have shipped yet.
On 9 Aug 13, I spoke to a customer representative over the phone (I had to call over a dozen times). She told me that (surprise!) my item was not in stock when I ordered it, but that it could be shipped to me THAT DAY.
On 12 Aug 13, I received an email stating that my case was being elevated to the shipment manager since my order was sent off for shipping on 8 Aug 13 (before I spoke to somebody at customer service).
And again, it is 14 Aug 13 and I have not received my order, nor have I received any shipping confirmation from CostCaptain.
CostCaptain, you have not lost me as a customer yet, but if I do not receive my order by the end of this week, I am cancelling the order."
"Great prices Would buy from again"
"My item was listed as being in stock when I purchased it. I never purchase items from vendors when they are listed as out of stock because god only knows when it will come in. The money was immediately deducted form my account. I paid for the expedited shipping (1-2 days) and it didnt arrive. The worst part was that I knew I was taking a chance by going with this unknown to me business but they were the only ones that had this particular computer part in stock. I now realize that having that item in stock was probably a lie to get the sale. Nothing worse than misleading a customer to buy from you. I have now cancelled my order and requested a full refund so we will see how long this takes to happen! BEWARE"
"I'm going out of my way to write this because the people who wrote the bad reviews on this site scared me into almost asking for a refund, turns out things were just fine. The shipping was fast and FREE! Not only that but cost captain was the only vendor to sell my item under the damn MSRP. All other stores sold my item for 50 and above plus tax, I got it for 40 without tax. My complaint is that they e-mail customer response system is a couple days slow, it says they will get back to you in a day but it might be more like 2, their phone service is friendly and quick though. The only other complaints is the order was not processed until a day or two so I ordered on Wednesday night and it was not shipped until friday and lastly, the box was slightly roughed up in the shipping, maybe some bubble wrap would have helped. I recommend this guys IF you need the lowest price BUT you don't need the product RIGHT AWAY."
"Their online comment, "in process ..." for 6 days, with no other comment, was a bit much. If they had told that the item was on order and when it was due at C-C, I would have been inclined to wait. Nevertheless, I want to thank C-C for going to another supplier to complete my order. "
"Best price I could find. And free shipping. Fan is very quiet!"
"Processing took WAY to long. I placed the order on Friday afternoon and it didn't ship until 8 business days later. If only the processing and shipping went as fast as the payment, I would give them 5 stars. I was worried about the integrity of the seller."
"I was pleased with the prompt acknowledgement of my order, the detailed invoice, and the quick shipment."
"Since I was in urgent need for the new modem for our new home, I was concerned that there was no update for processing. I emailed the support team and was ensured that my order was important and being processed.
thanks for the help."
"Garbage. Took FOREVER to get the item and now out of nowhere they're trying to charge me $29 for "premium" membership that i didn't agree to or ask for. Obviously they're hoping some percentage of people don't catch it and they're using that money to subsidize the products they sell to get lower prices. That's extremely shady and I'd be surprised if it wasn't in fact criminal."
